Grand Park Hotel Rovinj is undoubtedly a beautiful hotel in a superb location, but unfortunately the service during our stay simply did not match the level you would expect from a hotel charging these prices. Our arrival and check-in experience was underwhelming. There was little sense of occasion or particularly warm welcome. The room itself was attractive but surprisingly small, and the balcony arrangement provided less privacy than expected, with staff passing by without notice. Around the pool, the restaurant areas looked tired and were not kept as clean or well presented as they should have been. There were occasions involving cigar smoke and a dog nearby, and there simply did not appear to be enough staff actively managing the area. Those that were there worked hard, but they need better management and more of them. The sunbed situation was particularly poor. Beds were not consistently reset when guests left and some appeared effectively reserved for long periods. At a genuine five-star resort, staff should be managing this proactively rather than leaving guests to sort it out themselves. The pool towels are way past their sell by date. We also took the hotel’s trip to the island, which wah hyped up, but a major disappointment and frankly a waste of time and again felt poorly organised. There was inadequate guidance about what to expect, some umbrellas were difficult or jammed, djdnt feel special.in the slightest. Breakfast was excellent — probably 10/10 for the food itself. However, even at breakfast the service was inconsistent. I could go on and none of these things individually would ruin a holiday, but taken together they matter. This hotel is priced and marketed in the luxury category, yet too often the service felt closer to a Hilton than to a Ritz-Carlton which was.my expectation at this price point. Guest relations did try and address my concerns and made some kind gestures , and for that i thank them and my rating raised accordingly. The building, setting and breakfast are excellent, and Rovinj itself is wonderful. But at these prices, beautiful architecture is not enough. Management needs to raise its game considerably if Grand Park wants to deliver the level of service its prices suggest.
It was the most amazing hotel. We had a fabulous stay there for my husband’s 70th birthday celebrations. Rovinj is so pretty we loved it.
Want the wow factor? Just walk in to Reception where the glass windows overlook the most spectacular view of the heart of the town centre where the church of St Euphemia sits proudly at the top of the hill. The rooms are quirky in style, with industrial cement walls and an Emperor bed that is like sleeping on a huge pillow, gorgeous bathrooms with a huge shower head and Molton Brown toiletries. We had a balcony with a seaview and was worth the extra - the balcony is a great size. Breakfast is one of the best you will find anywhere with a fabulous choice of cold stations and a menu for everything else delivered fresh and hot. We dined one night in the Terrace Restaurant, Expensive but food was good although there are so many incredible restaurants within Rovinj you can walk in to most of them but the really good ones do need a reservation. Had cocktails at the hotel on the terrace - great views again. Plus the pool area is fabulous. A 50m pool that flows inside to out and was beautifully warm. A colder pool with views across to Rovinj town that made you just stand and stare. Great food by the pool and they replenished towels on a regular basis meaning that you never had to really sit on a wet towel for long if you didn't want to. Will we be back - we really hope so. Probably one of my favourite hotels and destinations in the world - and we've been all over!
Our second stay was exceptional, we are very happy with everything hotel offers. By far- the best breakfast ever, and the staff was extremely polite.
We came across this hotel by chance and having never been to Croatia decided to give it a try. We arrived at the Hotel entrance which had a fleet of Bentleys outside which you can hire or simply take for a test drive. Entering the Hotel the view is stunning over looking the Marina and Town. Check is was extremely warm , inviting and friendly it felt like we were returning rather than our first visit. Room was lovely with a fantastic view and a big thank you to the House keeping staff spotlessly clean throughout our stay. Patricija the Concierge was just brilliant. She explained everything about the area and the Hotel, arranged a Sunset Cruise and restaurant booking nothing was to much trouble at all. Sophia who is completing an internship was just lovely and welcoming every time we saw her. She always helped with any queries we had and will be a real asset to the Company I am sure. We ate at the Pool and the main restaurant...Food and service was great and breakfast was always a pleasure to sit and enjoy. We took the speed boat to the island opposite. The Grand Park has its own section with lovely comfy beds and brollies separate to the main area. They have their own Grand Park staff who make sure everything is kept immaculate and towels are changed etc...its a cash less island so everything can be recharged to your room which made it easy. Overall the Staff were a real credit to the Hotel. Pool is just lovely, yes beds are saved and this could be managed a little better however we could always find a bed and brolly. Staff always made sure fresh iced water was available and bringing cold ice cream around was a lovely touch. The infinity pool is great, however if you want to get your lengths in the indoor/outdoor pool is massive and will keep the keenest swimmer entertained . This is a delightful Hotel beautiful designed and positioned, run by Staff who really care about their guests and ensure everything is on point every time. Well done we will defiantly be back.
