Pical Resort, Valamar Collection

Very nice hotel, great staff and big rooms. Food is very good. There are some Little things that still need fixing (reception does not pick up the phone, there should be more options for Drinks in the all inclusive). Great big Programm for Kids!!! It is more on the expensive side, but worth it!

Never again The resort is beautiful in many respects, however 5* includes service. Our first experience at reception was good we arrived an hour earlier than check in and our room was ready. The receptionist gave us a map of the resort and explained about the different zones, we were surprised at how complicated the zones were and charges for different loungers in different parts of the resort. We booked a double but received a twin room. We accepted this as the rest of the room was lovely. We quickly changed and headed to the pools. We were quite confused about what loungers were included in the price. We had spent a significant amount on the accommodation so it was a shock to find out that all beach loungers you had to pay for and the pula pool. Additionally there was no adult only pool. We didn’t see this as a problem when we booked as we travelled on 8 September and believed most children would be back at school, this wasn’t the case. I can honestly say it was like one large crèche - very noisy. There were virtually no loungers available and then when we eventually found two my partners collapsed, tipped up and he hurt his spine on a concrete. We reported it to the young man manning the towel desk, he apologised but he never asked us to point out the bed that was faulty (to avoid others experiencing the same issue ) so we suggested he come look and take it out of service. Eventually a lifeguard came over offered some ice but seemed ill equipped to deal with the situation. We couldn’t find one other bed in the whole resort. Feeling a little disappointed we returned to our room and headed to dinner. The half board option provided access to the 4th floor buffet restaurant - the food was excellent. The biggest problem is the majority of waiting staff. They are too busy circling each other to provide service to guests. We rarely got offered a drink instead having to flag waiting staff down. Towards the end of our week one waiter got rather aggressive and demanded the wristband to take to the till ahead of receiving any drinks - this was not usual as we normally paid when we had finished and the waiter would bring a small device to tap. He could see we were not comfortable and proceeded to return to our table 4 or 5 times saying it wasn’t him it was very political - needless to say we were unable to enjoy our meal. The resort had absolutely nothing going on of an evening (exception one evening). We wandered into to the bar near reception a couple of evenings. We walked up to the bar and were asked to take a seat and then would be left up to 20 mins to be asked for our order. We watched other couples wander in sit down and leave out of frustration. The bar staff seem to argue and debate with each other and not even acknowledge guests. The whole resort could do with some customer service training. Our biggest pleasure was leaving the resort and heading into the old town of porec where there were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. I’ve visited Croatia multiple times and Porec previously but this was without a doubt the worst hotel I have stayed in for service.

The Pical Suites Hotel was truly the best hotel we have ever stayed in, and we stay in many 5 star hotels all over Europe. I was slighty worried that the family atmosphere and children's facilities would prevent us relaxing and really enjoying our stay as a couple, but it did not. Also we wouldn't usually stay in larger resort type hotels. But this resort is different and very special. The Suites hotel has every last detail thought through to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable, modern decor, beautiful balconies and views. The pool is stunning and the pool furniture is such high quality. The pool bar is a fantastic place to relax and have a drink. The breakfast in the Paranzena restaurant was incredible, innovative, healthy and had everything you could want and more. The service at breakfast was outstanding. We stayed just B&B and just ate around Porec. We did have a meal in the Pical beach restaurant Fogo but didnt realise this was an outdoor restaurant only and it was too hot for us that day with no aircon. But i'm sure it would be lovely in cooler weather. Location is perfect for Porec and we took the little train into the town every day as it was so hot for walking. We really enjoyed our stay at Pical Suites and cant wait to return again soon.

Very nice staff. Best swimming Amenities. Nikola is very good training. Me and wife learnt swimming with him. The buffet should include some variety and include Asian, Thai, Inidan and Mexican
