TUI BLUE Atlantica Sea Breeze

We have just arrived home from the Atlantica Sea Breeze after an 11 night stay. The hotel was generally very good, food great with very good variety, helpful staff everywhere, grounds beautiful and no need to reserve sunbeds. The room was a bit basic and noisy as the walls were paper thin and we could hear people speaking in the next room. The balconies were very close to each other with no partitions so no privacy whatsoever. If you didn't want to see the entertainment there was absolutely nowhere else to sit.

On arrival at around midnight the hotel reception looked pretty decent. Walked along corridor to room which is quite dated. Entered our room which was ok. It was clean and was serviced every day. Glasses in bathroom had covers on but glass had white residue in the bottom . Toilet seat was loose , fan didn’t work and shower door over bath leaked. We were in room 001 on ground level nearest the main road. Advertising it as a partial sea view is quite literal. It is very partial, take binoculars . Very good view of neighbouring car park. The room was quite noisy due to being above service entrance. There is a bar across the road which had very noisy karaoke and entertainment. Take ear plugs. We paid Tui £137 for a late checkout room. Don’t pay this it’s a rip off. Pay at hotel as it’s only 90euros. The outside areas of the hotel were ok. Pool toilets could do with a bit of attention.Plenty of sunbeds and plenty of space. Nice little cove nearby which has sunbeds for hire. My wife went snorkelling which she said was amazing the further you swam out. Pool bar serving poor lager and very strong cocktails was ok. Staff taking orders and delivering to your sunbeds and regularly collecting glasses. Food was just ok. Quality was decent enough but choice wasn’t great. Desserts were pretty generic with things like some sort of dessert with some crushed up biscuits on plate described as Oreo cake etc, and previous evenings desserts renamed for the following daytime buffet. Best food we had was when we ate out. The food was on a whole acceptable but probably the poorest all inclusive we’ve encountered for choice. The hotel is about 5km from Protaras so is quite far out but the buses from directly outside the hotel are pretty regular and take about 10 to 15 mins to get to centre and all fares are 2 euros. Hotel staff on a whole were very pleasant and friendly and mostly very helpful. They were the best part of the hotel. There were daily activities provided by the staff which were fun to join in too. We had an ok stay at this hotel but due to being a bit far from centre of Protaras, the room views and the food choices we wouldn’t stay here again or recommend.

Holiday review On arrival, first impression was really good. Reception staff really pleasant and suitcase taken to our room. Reception staff were great throughout. All staff were great to be honest and work hard. However, we got out of the lift on our floor and immediately noticed the drabness of the walls and carpets. It looked like an old council building. The walls need painting and the carpets needed replacing 10 years ago. They're falling apart in some places and are very worn, with dark worn away patches infront of each room and old carpet grippers on show, some of which were trip hazards. We initially booked a partial sea view room but had to change the dates due to a change of circumstances. So on rebooking, we were limited to booking a superior room. It was quite small but with plenty of storage and hanging space. The bathroom was tiny, as was the bath. The shower was over the bath and it was quite tight. Also, quite often, there was an unpleasant smell coming from around the toilet. But it was kept very clean by the cleaner. To advertise a superior room I'd expect a bigger room. But all we got for the extra cost was a bottle of wine, some apples, slippers and a bathrobe, which is clearly not worth the upcharge. But the bed was so comfy and huge! With daily cleaning and fresh towels. Pool bar... the waterline directly beneath the pool bar was filthy, with big brown scum marks beneath the bar. The pool bar seats were as bad and they had clearly never been cleaned. The rest of the pool was fine and it was nice to cool off in the pool. Sun beds... we preferred to sit on the grassed area overlooking the sea. This was a nice place to sit. However, many had black mould on the bed frames and a lot of mattresses were full of mould, soaking wet to sit on and falling apart. We used to look for the sun beds with the newer mattresses, otherwise you're immediately sitting in a wet patch. Gross. The mattresses need replacing now! However, there's plenty of sun beds either around the pool or on the grassed area so no need to fight over the beds and you can always have a lie in. It was lovely to sit and look out to sea with the lovely little beach beside you. If you want to enter the sea from directly infront of the hotel, you'll need water shoes because it's very rocky and treacherous. But it's good for snorkeling. Entertainment area ... Entertainment area was squashed at the side of the restaurant and you couldn't really see the act from the seats beneath the gazebo thing because there's no real stage. The sound equipment and lights are very basic and need updating. However, the silent disco was good fun. The Robbie Williams act was... NOT Robbie Williams. Just some guy who turned up to sing a mixture of songs with an unorganised act. Not sure if that was his fault or the hotels? The Blues Brothers act were good fun though. The girl who did the rock anthems act was also good. Food... food on the first day (Sunday) was awful. Cold cooked breakfast and the evening meal lacked choice and again, was practically cold. At this point, I was dreading the food for the rest of my stay. But it did get better. The Greek and Indian nights were better and the lunchtime bbq was a good quick option, but the food is certainly not up to the same standard as as other Tui Blue hotels. There's not even any fresh orange juice, just cordial. Alcoholic drinks are very weak and probably watered down, with way too much ice! But i still enjoyed the prosecco cocktail and he wine was fine to drink. On the beach, the sea water looks really sandy and you can't see very much, but swim out a bit and it becomes crystal clear. It's not a private beach as it's shared by 3 hotels and is open to the public, so does get busy but is a lovely little cove and very nice to swim in. The rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels and over our 10 day stay, there was 2 bed changes. But, there's a shortage of plugs in the room with no plugs beside the bed, and no USB plugs at all. I think there was 2 plug sockets in total. You're limited when you need to charge phones when also using the hairdryer etc. This needs updating. The bed was a good size, plenty of room and comfortable with decent air con. The staff all work very hard and most are so friendly and don't stop. However, one of the waiters in the upstairs bar was quite frankly, weird. He was definitely a new member of staff. He came over to give out popcorn but stood there for about 5 minutes, repeatedly tell my very shy daughter "I love you, I love you" telling her that she looks like she exercises, whilst making lip smacking kiss noises. It was inappropriate and really embarrassing. So much so we avoided that bar if we saw him. Maybe he was struggling with the language barrier? Who knows but it just made us feel so uncomfortable. We ate at the sushi bar one night which was a nice experience. We also visited the Culinarium restaurant which was lovely to be waited on. The food was ok but the puddings were the best. On another separate note, locals would turn up and occupy the sun beds down on the grassed area near to the beach front. I saw it happen a few times where about 5 or 6 would just turn up and take over the sun beds being very loud. I also saw locals sat around the hotel pool, using the pool, going into the restaurant and also being served drinks while sat outside the restaurant. This seemed to happen of a weekend. It's a bit annoying for a paying guest that they come and use the facilities for free. The hotel need to get to grips with this, but I think, from what I saw, the locals knew the head waiter, and it was him who authorised them to use the restaurant and pool. So that's why they do it. A late room check out is until 6 o'clock in the evening and costs €90 per room. This is a bit steep but with a late bus pick up we decided to go with it and we're grateful we weren't sat around the lobby all day. It felt like we had an extra day on holiday. There is building work going on either side of the hotel with high cranes in view. However, i only really heard construction work going on for about 2 or 3 days. I had a nice relaxing time, looking out to and swimming in the sea, but we booked this partly because it's labelled as a Tui Blue, so albeit we knew the activities and restaurant options were limited, we felt safe that the product we were buying was of a certain standard. Unfortunately, this hotel is not what I expected from a Tui Blue hotel at all, as it was very old and tired in many ways. I also think the star rating system needs reviewing as I'd only give it 3 stars. To summarise, I know I've mentioned a lot of negatives, but I did have a pleasant enough stay. But would I stay here again? No. It wasn't worth the money we paid at all and although the hardworking staff make it work, it's an old fashioned, out of date hotel that needs a good bit of modernisation.

We have just returned from a week's holiday at this hotel. We went to relax and recharge our batteries, which we managed to do. The entertainment is low-key and perfect if you want to join in or not. We were pleased to see we got dressing gowns and slippers, as we were not sure if we would be getting them. All the staff are welcoming and professional. Reasons for 4 stars: Our room was good enough for what we needed. We are used to having a walk-in shower rather than one in a bath, but it wasn't an issue. It's a shame that so many rooms face the sides of the building rather than the sea, but again it wasn't a big issue. As a non-smoker, it feels like almost all the outside spaces (e.g. eating in the restaurant, the tables in the main bar on the terrace, and the sun loungers) are for smokers only. There is nowhere to go without having to be around cigarette smoke all day, which spoils the holiday for us. We have been to hotels where there are specific areas for smokers, and this makes the experience much nicer for us non-smokers. The food was a lovely mix, and it was great trying different dishes. One comment is that most of the chicken was slightly overcooked, but I can understand why this might be the case. My 5-star experience - the Aegeo Spa team The spa treatments with Giovanni were fantastic. I always go for a massage when on holiday, and Giovanni took the time to help me understand why my muscles were so tight. He taught me breathing patterns and ways in which to relax. I am sure this will not be the experience that most people will have, but it turns out to have been something vital for my well-being. The spa reception team also helped in this whole process. We loved the thick sun lounger cushions as they make it so much more comfortable when lying there most of the day. Thank you to all the staff for making our week a pleasant experience.

I had 2 messages (wish I had found him ar the beginning of my holiday) with Giovanni - he was very knowledgeable about the body & could find the true cause of pain in your body - FANTASTIC!!!
