Cleopatra Luxury Resort Makadi Bay

The Cleopatra is a lovely all inclusive resort situated around a 30-45 minute drive from Hurghada Airport. The resort itself is large, clean, and well maintained with a number of pools and its own beach. The pools each offer a different atmosphere depending on your mood; there is a relaxing pool where you may enjoy a quieter day, a heated pool which offers music, and then the main two pools which offer an obstacle course, the pool bar, and an array of entertainment from the entertainment team. The beach was quite rocky and we would recommend bringing rock shoes, however swimming in it is so worth it with all the fish! We didn’t even have to go off the end of the jetty to see a pufferfish. When we initially arrived we were given a twin room, however the minute we asked for this to be changed to a double, reception promptly helped us with our cases to a new room. We booked a standard room however the room was large and spacious with a full walk in shower and a balcony large enough to host family yoga. Our room was cleaned daily by Atef who was wonderful; he greeted us every time he saw us and often lay rose petals and flowers across our newly made bed. Between Atef and A Hakim, nothing was too much and they always ensured we were happy and enjoying our stay. During our stay we booked a couple of excursions with Oscar; we chose quad biking in the desert and a snorkelling trip on a glass bottom boat. Oscar was very helpful with arranging our trips and he offered all of the information we could have possibly needed. We also had a photoshoot with Gerhard from the Magic Life Photo Team. Gerhard arranged everything for us and his colleague Mohammed took us for the shoot in a variety of locations with outfit changes. Gerhard went through the pictures with us the next day and helped us create an amazing package of memories for a reasonable price. We booked a trip to Luxor through GetYourGuide and the hotel ensured everything was secure and even gave us a large packed lunch each to take with us. Nothing was too much to ask for, and even when we felt ill, the pharmacy staff were very helpful and gave us advice and medication to get us back to enjoying our holiday. Throughout our stay the entertainment team offered multiple shows, karaoke nights, beach parties, foam parties, etc. We enjoyed all of these and loved their focus on healthy activities and keeping people active through their stay. The team offer yoga, aerobics, zumba, and the hotel itself offers a range of sports and its own running track with maps through the resort. The food in the restaurant was also enjoyable and varied with each night offering a new themed menu and each guest getting 2 a la carte choices (fish and Italian) per week stay. Whilst we didn’t partake, there was also the option to have a romantic candle lit dinner on the beach. We loved our stay at Cleopatra and we will definitely be back!

We stayed for 7 nights at Cleoptra, in Makadi Bay, Hurghada. The hotel was friendly and accommodating from the moment that we arrived (which was 4am due to flight delays). The atmosphere throughout our stay has been amazing and all of the staff at the hotel have been friendly and have gone over and above to help us when needed. Our room was excellent, with a lot of space and all of the amenities you would want from a hotel. I cannot fault the rooms at all. The cleaning staff were brilliant and went over and above to make our stay special, especially Atef who helped to make our stay much more memorable by going over and above every day. The hotel and the facilities are spotless. There are a number of different locations within the hotel for people to relax and do activities, with multiples swimming pools and bars for day time relaxing, and multiple bars and restaurants for the evening. There is also different entertainment options each night to choose from. There are also a number of teams within the hotel to help with additional activities. The entertainment team at the hotel is very friendly and always looking to keep people entertained. Specifically, the Magic Life Photo team were brilliant and gave us some great memories to take home. Gerhard and Mohammed were very friendly and brilliant with us and did everything they could to make our experience more special. We got a video, digital photos, a photo album and 2 posters for a very reasonable price. We would recommend that all guests staying at the Cleopatra do the photo shoot as they will make this experience very special and provide you with memories to last a lifetime. We cannot thank them enough for everything they did. We also booked some excursions through the activities rep at the hotel, Oscar. He was always very friendly and gave us a great deal to do quad biking and a snorkeling trip, which were both very good value for money and provided a great day out for us. The bar and restaurant staff were excellent and always went above and beyond to get you what you needed, whenever you wanted anything. The food and drink options are excellent and there is a massive variety of food and drink available. I would recommend this hotel to anybody, whether it be couples, solo travellers or families and we will definitely come back in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Cleopatra Luxury Resort and were particularly impressed by the beautiful, immaculately manicured gardens and spacious grounds. The resort is very well laid out, and despite its size and number of guests, it never felt overcrowded. There was always plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Our room was a good size, clean, comfortable and provided everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. One slight disappointment was the swimming pool situation. The resort is advertised as having eight pools, but during our stay we were only able to use three of them. Given the size of the resort, it would have been lovely to have had access to more of the advertised pools. The kids’ club was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our holiday for the kids. Another huge highlight was the snorkelling. Having such easy access to the sea via the jetty was brilliant, and being able to snorkel and see the marine life so conveniently really added something special to the holiday. However, we felt the cost of renting life jackets was excessive, particularly for a resort operating on an all-inclusive basis. This is something we feel should either be included or available for a much more reasonable charge. Unfortunately, there were also some areas that fell noticeably short of the five-star standard we expected. While some members of staff were welcoming and helpful, this was certainly not consistent across the resort. We appreciate that cultural differences in communication and service styles can play a part, but if a hotel markets itself as a five-star luxury resort, a consistently warm, courteous and hospitable approach should be a fundamental part of the experience. This is an area where we feel further staff training would make a significant difference. The gluten-free provision was another major disappointment. Across the restaurants, the options were extremely poor, with the gluten-free bread in particular being so hard that it was practically inedible. For a five-star international resort catering to guests with different dietary requirements, we expected considerably better quality, variety and understanding of gluten-free dining. Our most disappointing experience, however, was my wife’s birthday meal at the Vista Mare restaurant. We had hoped this would be a special evening, but unfortunately several things went wrong. The wrong birthday cake was provided, the pizza was undercooked, and what should have been a memorable celebration became a frustrating experience. What disappointed us most was the way the situation was handled. Rather than acknowledging the problems and trying to put things right, we found the manager to be rude and defensive. Mistakes can happen in any hotel or restaurant, and we are generally very understanding of that. What distinguishes excellent hospitality is how those mistakes are dealt with. A sincere apology and a genuine attempt to rectify the situation would have completely changed our impression of the evening. Overall, Cleopatra Luxury Resort has a great deal going for it. The beautiful gardens, enormous and uncrowded grounds, comfortable accommodation, fantastic kids’ club and excellent access to snorkelling were real highlights of our holiday. However, there are areas where the service and dining experience do not currently match what we would expect from a five-star resort. With improvements to staff hospitality, dietary provision and the way guest concerns are handled, this could be an exceptional resort.

Would definitely recommend him for some photos!! Booking Spa treatment with Mohammed was not so good as after booking treatment, he was not so helpful so wouldn’t recommend him but rather go to the spa directly! Same for beauty Salon! Hotel is isolated and need a car to get to the nearest shops! Beach not so pretty but okay! Thanks to the amazing staff. We had a good stay!
