Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this hotel. I paid almost triple the average rate for my room through Expedia. The room was advertised as sleeping four people, but my reservation showed one adult. When I called the hotel, I was told the room could only accommodate one person, so I booked another room directly with them—which was actually about $200 cheaper. After arriving, I also spoke with other guests who had received significantly better rates. The pricing, however, was not even the worst part. I booked a safari through Alex Group, a separate company operating inside the hotel. The next day, I asked about an island trip. Because I was speaking Arabic, the employee told me, “We can’t take Egyptians.” When I told him I have an American passport, he responded positively and said Egyptians “make it dirty.” I could not believe I was hearing such a discriminatory and disrespectful comment. Your nationality does not determine whether you are clean, respectful, or well-behaved. I also had a friend visit me after 10 PM. Reception told me she could not go to my room and pointed to two other women who were supposedly being told the same thing. I respected the rule and stayed with my friend in the lobby. Shortly afterward, those same two women were allowed upstairs. When I questioned the receptionist, he suddenly claimed they were residents. He also refused to give me his full name when I asked to report the situation. My biggest concern was safety. On two nights, around 2–3 AM, a woman repeatedly knocked on my door, tried to open it, and stayed outside my room for around 30 minutes. The hotel later told me she was mentally unstable and that her family was staying next door. If the hotel was aware of the situation, why was nothing done to prevent her from repeatedly trying to enter another guest’s room in the middle of the night? Overall, I experienced discrimination, inconsistent rules, poor professionalism, and serious safety concerns. I paid a premium price and expected much better treatment and security. If I could give -5 stars, I would. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel.

A truly memorable stay at the Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna. It started with a warm welcome on arrival at the reception. The attention to detail throughout my stay was outstanding. Staff members across all departments were professional, kind, and consistently helpful. The food was excellent, with every meal prepared to a high standard. What made the experience particularly special was how the team managed to make me feel genuinely at home, comfortable, welcomed, and well cared for. Although the hotel would benefit from renovation, this did not diminish the quality of my stay. I left with wonderful memories and sincere appreciation for the staff.
My husband and I just spent a wonderful week at the Movenpick Resort & SPA El Gouna, and it completely exceeded our expectations! We wanted a relaxing yet memorable escape to celebrate our anniversary, and El Gouna turned out to be the absolute best choice—it’s so clean, peaceful, and totally different from the bustling center of Hurghada. The Resort Experience. The Movenpick property is stunning—spacious, beautifully landscaped with palm trees, and right by the lagoons and the Red Sea. Our Deluxe Sea View room was spotless, very comfortable, and waking up to the view of the blue water each morning was pure bliss. The staff was incredibly welcoming without being intrusive. We spent our lazy days lounging by the infinity pool, walking along the private beach, and enjoying the incredible food at their restaurants. The breakfast buffet had a massive variety of fresh pastries, fruits, and made-to-order omelets that kept us energized for our adventures. Exploring Egypt: Trips & Recommendations. While the resort is relaxing enough that you never want to leave, we wanted to see some history. On past trips, we learned our lesson about overpriced hotel tours, so this time we decided to look for a local agency. We found Sheriff Egypt online (you can easily look them up by name in a search engine), and I am so glad we did! Their prices are significantly lower than what our hotel tour guides were charging for the exact same packages, and the level of service was top-tier from start to finish. Here are the specific excursions we booked with them: Private Cairo & Luxor Day Tours: We booked both Cairo and Luxor as customized individual programs. Having a private guide made all the difference—he spoke fluent, beautiful English, knew all the historical details inside and out, and tailored the pace entirely to us. No rushing through crowds with a giant tour bus! Plus, for the long drives, they provided a brand-new 2026 model microbus that was extremely clean, air-conditioned, and comfortable. Hurghada City Tour & Museum of Antiquities: We also wanted to check out the local culture, so we took a guided city tour around Hurghada and visited the Hurghada Museum of Antiquities. It was fascinating to see ancient artifacts up close without the overwhelming crowds of the capital. If you are heading to El Gouna or Hurghada and want a mix of luxury resort relaxation and well-organized, stress-free sightseeing, book your stay at the Movenpick and reach out to Sheriff Egypt for your trips. We’re already dreaming of coming back!
