⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ UPDATE — SECOND VISIT, SEPTEMBER 2026 Last year I ended my review with: “I can’t wait to come back!” Well… we came back. 😊 And after our second stay, I can confidently say that Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma remains a very special place for our family. Everything I wrote last year about the beautiful beach, exceptional cleanliness, excellent food and drinks, and outstanding service still stands. But after our second visit, I realized that the real luxury of this resort is its people. A few people deserve a very special mention: Helmy, at the bar by the kids’ pool — absolutely exceptional. I almost always saw him working there alone, yet everything was always perfectly organized, clean, calm and comfortable. He remembers what you like, notices what you need and does everything with genuine professionalism. This became our favorite bar in the resort largely because of him. Thank you, Helmy! Romani — probably the waiter with the best smile in the world! 😄 Always positive, warm and genuinely happy to see you. His energy makes your day better. Ali from Benisuma — a true professional. Excellent service, attention to detail and a natural ability to make guests feel special. We sincerely hope that one day we return and find Ali managing all the restaurants — he certainly has our vote! 😊 And a very special thank you to Mahmoud Basiony, Front Office Manager. During our stay, my Crocs disappeared from outside our room. The shoes themselves were not important, but they had a collection of charms with great sentimental value to me. Eventually, the Crocs were found on the beach — without the charms. Mahmoud could easily have considered the matter finished there, but he didn’t. He personally got involved, asked me for photos of the charms and organized another search. A few hours later, he came back with all of them. That meant much more to me than the monetary value of anything that was lost. You learn a lot about a hotel not when everything goes perfectly, but by seeing how people respond when something goes wrong. Thank you, Mahmoud, for personally making sure this story had a happy ending. We travelled with small children, including our five-month-old baby, and Ras Soma remains a wonderful place for a family holiday. Since we genuinely love the hotel and plan to return, just three small suggestions for making an already excellent experience even better: Families with babies could be informed if their room is directly beside an area with loud evening music until around 11 PM, particularly when similar rooms are available in quieter areas. A better baby-cot option for very young babies would also be appreciated. When we asked for an alternative to the wooden cot provided, the staff tried to help, but the solution could be improved. Finally, it would be helpful to make it clearer that the coffee-machine capsules placed beside the complimentary tea and instant coffee are actually part of the chargeable minibar. These are suggestions, not complaints, and none of them changes our overall impression. After two visits, I can say with even more confidence: the people are what make Steigenberger Ras Soma special. Thank you to the whole team, and especially Helmy, Romani, Ali and Mahmoud. ❤️ Last year I wrote, “I can’t wait to come back.” Now I can say: We can’t wait to come back again! 🌴❤️ ——— ORIGINAL REVIEW — 2025 ——— A true paradise! 🌴✨ The beach feels absolutely heavenly — even though there are plenty of guests, the smart layout of everything makes it feel calm, private, and relaxing at all times. The service is outstanding: every waiter and bartender is genuinely welcoming, always asking if you need anything, and never saying “no” to a request. Even if what you want is located on the other side of the resort, they bring it to you with a smile and without hesitation. Cleanliness is impeccable. Every public restroom is spotless and dry, even the ones right on the beach — not a single drop of water anywhere! The food and drinks are of the highest quality, with excellent restaurants and a wide variety of delicious options. This place is truly perfect for a family holiday — a combination of comfort, beauty, and world-class service. I can’t wait to come back!
We have had a really good time here at Ras Soma. Great atmosphere, very welcoming and attentive members of staff throughout the resort from reception team to entertainment staff. There is a place for everyone and two different pools. We enjoyed being around the Active pool which had many activities to get involved with. My particular favourites were playing waterpolo with animation staff Andy and darts with Leona. Would highly recommend coming and would like to come back again.
Once you arrive, you feel like home. Warm welcoming along with fresh and tasty welcome drink, the reception team are very welcoming and helpful
Sheraton Soma Bay Resort delivers excellent service, beautiful facilities, and a relaxing luxury experience. I highly recommend it to families, couples, and anyone looking for a memorable Red Sea vacation, and I would happily stay here again.
We stayed for 14 days in August / September. Generally, we were very impressed with Steigenberger. It has many wonderful aspects, most notably the staff, who are outstanding. However, we would say there are several areas for improvement before this can be treated as one of the elite hotels in Hurghada. We stayed at Serry Beach earlier in the year and Steigenberger fell short of the exceptionally high standards we experienced there. The positives: - Staff are absolutely amazing. Always with a smile, all so hard-working (10-12 hr shifts, day in, day out), and to a man / woman, all eager to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Special mentions for our housekeeper Mahmoud (Room 1156), lifeguard Mohamed Ghabril, pool waiters Abdelsaleh and Hosanh, Ibrahim the manager at Maya, Head Chefs at Arabesque (Samir) and at Cabana, Mohammed, the entertainments guy, Waer Ali, manager at Safari, Mohammed and Ahmed, waiters at Safari. If there is more than one Mohammed at Safari, it was the one with a wonderful smile who told us he had worked something like 75 days without a day off! Their work-ethic and wonderful customer service is really awe-inspiring. They made us feel like family. Sukran Habibi!! Pools - wonderfully spacious sunlounger area. Pools lovely and clean, great staff all around the pools who cannot do enough for you. Friendly, helpful - but not over-bearing, they are all so good at their jobs. Entertainment team also do a great job of bringing the energy with aqua-aerobics and such. Great to watch and enjoy even if you are very lazy like us and like to do as little as possible whilst on holiday. Food - generally of a very good standard. We particularly enjoyed Maya Restaurant which is on the beach. This has a lovely setting with music being played by a violinist under fairy lights. The food is also outstanding here. You can make reservations for all the ala cartes on an unlimited basis, which is great and means you do not have to endure the buffet restaurant (this restaurant was rather characterless although the choice and quality of food was generally very good). Room - very nice. We had a beachfront room with a lovely panoramic view of the sea and beach. Unfortunately though, there is construction on one side of the hotel and so half our view was of a building site with noisy trucks to and from all day. A little disappointing that the hotel didn't tell us about this when we checked in. Cleanliness and aesthetic - the resort is spotless throughout. There is zero rubbish and empty glasses / plates are cleared away immediately. The pools were visibly cleaned every night. The indoor areas are all brand new and visually stunning. The lobby area is beautifully designed in a contemporary Arabian style and it is likely the best hotel lobby we have ever experienced (and we have stayed in many 5-star resorts around the world). The fragrances in the air are beautiful also. Now the negatives: - - Although the food quality is generally good, we experienced a few bad meals at Cabana and Benisuma. The meals just weren't right in our view - for example, the Linguine Alfredo was dry and bland. When we reported this to a customer services lady who approached us looking for feedback, they immediately called the head chef down to apologise. He assured us he would look after us if we came for dinner the next night - this was a real nice touch and showed us that the hotel really do care about customer experience. The chef welcomed us the following evening and ensured he cooked our meals with love and dedication which was an amazing thing to do. The same happened at Benisuma. It is just a shame that sometimes the quality of food isn't what it should be - perhaps the 'second' chefs are not good enough or sometimes there is just a drop-off in care taken. I think the resort really need to ensure 100% quality control is taken to a new level before they can consider the resort as truly elite. At Serry Beach, the head chef was out at the buffet every day, stood monitoring his chefs and ensuring 100% satisfaction of paying customers. - The beach is not very inviting. The sunloungers are blue and ugly. The multiple windbreaks are also not very aesthetically pleasing either (dirty white plastic). If you look at the pool area and the beach area, it is like looking at 2 different resorts. - The evening entertainment. Poor and repetitive. They have a singing act on for 30 minutes, then a dance act (under the guise of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' or some other outdated theme) and then the singers for a further 30 minutes. It is unbelievably flat and there is little to no crowd involvement. The stage is tiny and the way the tables are set-up does not lend itself to a good vibe. I think I heard Abba songs every single night - you expect a bit of Abba on holiday of course but not twice a night for 14 nights ! This is the only evening option. The area around Maya should be used as a beach-bar area with more seats and waiters there - perhaps have live acts on there for the sunset session. Or have an adults-only cocktail bar at the beach. Just different options so you can mix it up. As my partner said, they would better having no entertainment at all than this boring and repetitive 'show' every night. Most of the guests would generally slope off to bed by 10pm as it was so flat. - The Minibar is not incuded which was a real bugbear of ours. We have never been to an AI hotel before where Minibar and coffee pods were chargeable. It really just seems a bit petty - so you can drink limitless amounts of coffee, soft drinks, beer, cocktails etc at the bars - have 10 at once if you so wish - yet you can't have a can of beer, nice coffee or can of pop in the room without paying extra? Just smacks of penny-pinching and that is not AI Luxe! We only had a few soft drinks from the Minibar as we knew it was chargeable - i think the guy on reception was as embarrassed as me when he invoiced us for 6 euros for 3 cans of pop! All seems a bit daft in a supposed high-end 5-star AI resort. .. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at Steigenberger. There is much to love about it. The staff are the stand-out performers - they really set you at ease and make you feel like a valued customer every day. We are very grateful to each member of staff who made us feel so welcome. The hotel has definite room for improvement but is certainly on the right lines - and they listen to customer feedback which is very important. We hope to return one day.
