Aurora Oriental Resort Sharm El Sheikh

This was our first trip to Egypt. We had a brilliant time. The hotel is great, yes the bathrooms are a bit dated, but everything is spotless. The grounds are beautiful and theres direct access to the beach. We found the food to be delicious, everyone found something to eat each meal time and the staff, especially Mahmood, we're excellent (make sure you tip them, they deserve every penny). The entertainment was great, the new team got everyone involved and there were several special events, including a foam party. We went on excursions and used Tito travel, we were really well looked after. We also had photos taken at the hotel, the photographer, Islam, is so talented. He took the time to interact with everyone and got some beautiful images that we will treasure. We will definitely come back, the only thing we wish we could change is our length of stay, we only visited for a week, but we wish we'd done 2.

Lovely holiday with friends. Here are my thoughts:- Very tired hotel in areas, cracked tiles in bathrooms and corridors. In the restaurant had to wait for the bar staff to empty beers into glasses from bottles, this caused long queues. When we said it’s ok we’ll have the bottle we were told we would have to pay. The beach is quite sharp sand so don’t forget a pair of beach shoes. To snorkel you have to walk to the end of a long pier but it’s worth the walk. There is not a lot of entertainment on the night but the hotel is situated in a good position for you to walk to some bars, shops and restaurants outside. The drinks in the hotel are ok with a good selection but if you like Bicardi they do not do it so I bought it in the airport 2 x £25 and took it in with me. The All Inclusive does not include the specialist restaurant or the sports Bar to my partners disgust so we had to leave the hotel to watch England play. The food at the beach bar and the pool bar is very poor and the same most days. We didn’t have any trouble getting a sun bed but parasols was a different matter and they are short in supply. The sun is very strong and you need to have one. The coffee machines in the restaurant are probably the best coffee I have had in a hotel and I’m old so had a lot. The drinks/cocktails are very nice also with a good selection. We really enjoyed the quiet pool but some people still take children and I don’t think this is fair as you cannot keep them quiet especially on their holidays. Parents think on, we had kids before and now don’t want to hear them whilst we are away. We went on two trips. The Sharm Discovery trip was well worth the money at £25 we went to 5 places and got a three course meal at the end in Soho Square. We also did a buggy trip [ can do quad bikes] in the desert which is fun.

Overall a great hotel in a fantastic area with lots of great eateries and shops. The food was really good. The pool areas were great. The only thing was the room which was a bit shabby and definitely needs a refresh, but you didn’t spend long in your room anyway as you were enjoying the amazing weather. The beds were excellent though and slept great. A big shout out to Melad the pool barman, he was a legend who would do anything for you with a smile and helped me with the local lingo as well. Also, the breakfast omelette chef Mo who was always happy and cooked amazing omelettes! On the whole it was a great week away. The local area had great eateries like Mango Chinese, Hard Rock Cafe and especially Arab Bucks which done amazing pizza and cocktails at ridiculous price and didn’t scrimp on quality. Come and see for yourself!

First time at this hotel. Will definitely return. Absolutely amazing. The cleanliness to the grounds. All staff were lovely and work so hard. House keeper called Farouk cleaned room lovely, looked forward to seeing what towel art he could leave me every day. I tried my best to do the same didn’t quite work out. Will definitely return had the best time ever.

Just arrived back after 11 night stay. This was my 4th visit in just over 2 years unsure about returning for a 5th time due to some niggling issues that should be addressed as per below. • Waiters taking drinks and plates out of your hand when you are 5 feet away from your table,they think they are being helpful but they are not. I would rather then take drink orders from the table instead of when you are walking back from the restaurant bar and almost at your table then they take from you to walk to the table. • no room to freshen in if after check out. I have stayed in many hotels and all offer the service of a room to freshen in once you have checked out. Here they have stopped and it forces you to pay to keep the room on just so you can shower and get dressed after swimming if on a late flight they need to address this as a few other guests mentioned this to us also. • poolmen/lifeguard keep asking when are you leaving (going home) and advising that you need to top them before you go home. Overall I did have a nice time, barman Muhammad makes really nice drinks. Pool always clean. Food always a good selection but some things have changed since my first visit and it's not for the better, I am considering trying new resorts next visit this is due to the above issues and have really put me off the Aurora for a 5th visit
