The service at the pool bar was appalling. It was incredibly slow despite taking into account the amount of tourists and their orders. During lunch time, orders arrive after 40 minutes. Also, when I checked the ingredients from the menu, I pointed out that several of them were missing in my pizza. The manager offered to bring me a chicken sandwich and dessert instead, but it wasn’t the same. I’d much rather prefer my pizza to be exactly as I ordered it. To add more, I reserved a table at an à la carte restaurant, BBQ and seafood. The fish was undercooked (raw in the middle) and they didn’t bring appetisers until we mentioned we’d been waiting for half an hour. Also, the waiter mixed up our orders. During breakfast, you practically have to wait for years until anyone brings you coffee or juice for the kids (you ask, you plead, you request - nothing). I spoke to the manager at the reception and the food service manager, they assured us that they would speak to the staff and make sure to make our stay as pleasant as possible. But at the end of the day, nothing has changed. In addition, at the pool, there’s a lifeguard and a towel guy who’s supposed to help guests open umbrellas but they don’t come to you until you ask for their help three or four times. Even though it’s their job, they pretend not to notice you calling them or ask extra questions like “Why do you need me to open an umbrella for you?” It’s just rude. It might seem like a friendly gesture, but first and foremost they should do their job and make sure the guests are comfortable. A few days before my friend’s birthday, I specifically asked the guest relations personnel about the hotel’s gift offerings. They included flowers, a fruit basket and a cake. I reminded to bring a fruit basket to our room before the birthday but my requests went unheard. It’s clear these people don’t care. Yesterday, the bartender at the lobby bar took my friend’s phone from the table while we were in the middle of a conversation. The atmosphere instantly shifted and she became angry demanding her phone back. She even expressed her dislike for such behaviour. It’s baffling why these incidents occur. Is theft of personal property common at the Baron resort hotel? We hope not. We hope these are isolated examples of uneducated behaviour. What’s more, the smell of sewage in our room is very disturbing. It has gone progressively worse in a few days and at the end of our stay, it is just awful. No toilet brush in sight either. On our departure day, despite our willingness to pay any price, they refused to extend our room reservation. At the spa centre, we requested permission to, at least, shower and change but were again denied as it wasn’t allowed since we hadn’t had any massages there. This is the first time I’ve encountered such problems at any of the five-star hotels in Egypt. Usually the hotel management goes to great lengths to offer excellent service but not at the Baron Resort Hotel. Overall, the service was terrible. I believe I made a mistake choosing this hotel and I won’t recommend it to anyone. I am very disappointed.

Most of the hotel facilities and equipment require maintenance, and staff service and overall professionalism need significant improvement.
