Pickalbatros Golf Beach Resort

Needs some refurbishment to bring up to 5*. Our room was located in block 32 of the Royal block. The grounds look lovely and the blocks look impressive from outside. Our room was large and had 2 double beds and a single within the same room. The room had dated furniture but was fine with TV and AC. The bathroom again large had a very large bath but the whole bathroom suite needed ripping out and replacing. There was cracked floor tiles, the sealant round the bidet was broken and missing. The toilet had marks around the seat and around the fixing. The jack & Jill sink unit had buildup of stains and again you could see where the sealant had come away and the sinks had dropped. It wasn’t a cleaning issue it was because it was very old. The bath panel was loose and again had stains on the floor and on the panel and massive amounts of old sealant showing. The shower was not very powerful but did have ample hot water everyday. The shower pole and curtain had seen better days and the curtain was ripped and old. There was a light in the bedroom that you switched off at night but would still have a dim light which would not go off. It was above a picture and when you looked it appears to be loose from the wall. The AC was needed as it was 34 at night but it was so noisy and rattled tried to adjust it and only 2 settings worked but both still as noisy. Reported to reception the issues with the light and the AC and they said they would send someone but we did not see any change to both. The Ahmed the cleaner did a good job and the room was cleaned every day and had clean bedding and towels and plenty of bottled water. The food in the main restaurant was plentiful with lots of different dishes but nothing was as hot as you would like especially the chicken dishes which after trying avoided. The tagines were very nice. The breakfast again basic but also included mash potato some morning. You could request omelette or fried eggs but as the chefs didn’t understand much English sometimes you didn’t always get what you ordered or you would get someone else’s on your plate. There was also people who would just go to the front of the queue of people and be served instead of being told to wait their turn, the food became repetitive very quickly and was like eating in a school dinning room. We are not fussy eaters but after becoming ill I tended to go for the pasta when I did eat in this restaurant. The pool snack bar was much better. You have to book other restaurants which we did but had to cancel the Tagine due to being poorly with an upset tummy. We did book the Japanese which is not included in your all inclusive but was worth every penny. We had the filet steak Teppanyaki which was cooked in front of you to your liking. The chef and the waiter was excellent and the food was delicious the best meal we had. It cost for 3 of us around $25 each which was great value. The pools look impressive but when you are in them there are lots of loose or Brocken tiles the pools need some cleaning as throughout the week the royal pool started to become slippery on the steps into the pool and started to look a bit green. The hand rail and some metal steps are very loose or broken. The lifeguards were all very friendly and helpful and did a great job watching the pool. They are a credit to the hotel especially the ones around the Royal pool. The bar staff around the same pool do appear to be less enthusiastic in their job and only seamed to want to serve people nearest the bar and would not walk round the whole pool taking orders very often. One barman spent more time on his phone or switching the music than he did serving. When they did eventually come down to the child’s area they would just take one order at a time if they had a note pad they could take more orders that way people would get the correct drinks they ordered if they got them at all, we ended up getting our own drinks as we felt we was an inconvenience to them even though we would always tip when they did bring us drinks. The bar staff in the lobby bar especially Karim was really friendly and did an amazing job making sure everyone had drinks and was always smiling he is an asset to the hotel. The beach/reef was full of beautiful fish which was only accessible by lots of steps so if you are less able bodied you would not be able to experience it. There isn’t really any beach it’s built on the cliff and has different levels of deck. The Spa in the hotel is lovely and definitely worth a visit especially the Turkish bath and massage, Nadia was really good and kind and made sure I was happy all the way through. We spent a week here and it was our first visit to Sharm we usually go to Hurghada we always stay in 5* hotels and feel this one just has great potential but doesn’t come close to being a 5* based on needing refurbishment in areas. The Aqua park at the sister hotel was very good and the seating around the slides were great and very comfortable and would be good if available at the other hotel. We had a good holiday but would be unlikely to return

This place has some of the kindest, funny and endearing staff in Egypt despite their managers. Bar staff, restaurant, pool staff and housekeeping are all amazing and made our holiday here great. Hotel was nice, rooms large and clean, pool areas and choices brilliant. Buffet nice but a special shout out to the Lebanese restaurant and Tagine, both served great food. Now for the BUTS… We were one of about 4 British couples/families staying here, 90% of guests are Russian. I wouldn’t normally call out a nation but the other guests from other countries were lovely, they didn’t barge into you, push in front and demand something when you are already being served, steal the omelettes that you were having made for you ( that has to be the worst one obviously). The noise the first couple of nights was terrible, screaming, shouting till 3am and their kids running up and down the corridor at all hours, thankfully although still not quiet at night this did calm down. Final whinge was the way managers treated staff. Last night we saw one berating Karim and another bar staff for no reason other than he was clearly doing it to impress a VIP who had a reserved table nearby. Said VIP totally oblivious to this and not even looking despite the manager making a big show if his telling off, puffing chest and staring over hoping to get his attention. Shamless behaviour and not a good look in front of guests who have all the praise for the staff and after that display of poor management no respect for them. Saying this please go visit the hotel for the venue, food, the Staff and their kindness they really are worth it.

Scam workers epically finance staff and front disk . BUT if you pay them $ under the table things might work .i left the place (rude ) photo of two guys (so bad )scam . They charge me extra after ( watch your card ) Сплошной обман, особенно со стороны финансового отдела и администраторов на стойке регистрации. НО если заплатить им «мимо кассы», дело может выгореть. Я ушел оттуда — хамство и полнейший отстой.

Very good hotel a special thanks to the barman at the pool and restaurant and at the animation team all the staff made our vacation incredible
