Pickalbatros Royal Moderna Resort

Another amazing return visit to the RAM, this time as a family of 15, age ranges 4 to 60. As a couple we have been visiting the Moderna for over 15 years, it has developed a lot over this time with new water parks, room modernisation and continuous improvement in food choice and quality. For us as a couple we have outgrown it a little, as it is now more appealing to families, however, there are many quiet areas for those looking to relax. Large modern rooms with flat screen tv, and lovely shower. Our room cleaner Ahmed SaIed (room 1516) was so lovely, the room was spotless with daily towel art. Majority of staff professional,  friendly and go the extra mile, especially Waleed Ali and his team at the Beach Bar and Mohamed Adel in the Fish Restaurant who provided the ultimate drinks service. Always polite, friendly and very smiley. Food quality and choice is great, the best we have had at any Red Sea Resort. There is a new Indian chef and an Italian chef coming to join the team to improve the authenticity of the dishes. So many different restaurants to go between, does have a chaotic feel at mealtimes but does cope well with the high capacity. Numerous bars to sit at, the lobby bar was usually quiet, waiter service was hit and miss. The beach bar was a favourite and ran by the best barman Waleed Ali. What a credit to the hotel, professional, friendly and ensures all his team work well under pressure.  Drinks quality is not the best but normal for Egypt, wine and beer is ok, spirits like paint stripper. Entertainment in the day was ok, the normal aqua gym, darts, volleyball etc. Bikes to ride, tennis, Padel ball kept the family amused. Our biggest disappointment was the night time entertainment which mainly comprised of Mr Hotel, Mrs Hotel and Ibiza type music etc, not a lot of outside acts were bought in. There were only 3 mini discos in 2 weeks! We have had a lot better entertainment at other hotels. Also, the programme wasn't accurate.  Where are the singers, Egyptian Folklore/acts, fire shows,  violinist, pianists, cirque du soleil type shows, chart music which we have experienced at many Egypt hotels? Lots of pools, the large pool near the beach is heated. 2 children's waterparks and one for all ages. The gardens are beautifully maintained. The infrastructure of the hotel is starting to look a little tired in places, the garish yellow/red pathways and pier are in need of some TLC. Smoking continues to be a big problem for us, we want to sit and eat, have a nice drink outside without someone lighting up next to us.  Every outside area is a smoking area!   This has been a very difficult review to write due our long association with this hotel, but ultimately honesty is the best policy. We still believe it offers many 5* facilities, but the price Increases put it on a par with many of the exclusive 5 stars hotels nearby.  Prior to leaving the RAM we were invited to a meeting to discuss the issues we had. Guest Relations were excellent and convinced us that improvements were being made to all of the above.   If you are looking for good food, friendly staff , family focused hotel with waterparks this maybe for you. Despite our concerns this is a great hotel and we will continue to return without hesitation.

Hotel is lovely and great for families. The food is good and there is plenty of choice. There is always chips, pizza and pasta for fussy eaters. But there was always differnt varieties of meat every night. The staff are absolutely lovely at this hotel and go above and beyond. Waleed behind the beach bar is amazing and the other guys behind there are super friendly. Mohamed Adel in the fish restaurant and Italian restaurant has been amazing. Mr Osama the food and beverage manager has also been great. The beach is lovely and the pier is great to swim off. Rooms are lovely and our cleaner was so great. Entertainment isnt the best there was alot of Mr Hotel, Mrs Hotel and Couples instead of there being actual shows on. Information about entertainment was also very hit and miss you would get told something was on and it wouldn't be on. Apart from that the hotel is lovely and we will be back.

My family and I have just returned from 2 brilliant weeks at this hotel . The place is kept immaculate by the constant hard work of all the staff , the food is very good just a little repetitive which you kind of come to expect at any all inclusive to be fair . The only negative I would say would be the entertainment was very hit and miss of an evening. The stand out for me would be the staff most are good but Muhammed and ali at the relax pool bar went above and beyond, so much to the point that my son was sobbing on the way to the airport about how he missed them already and hoped to see them again. This is truly a wonderful hotel. From the staff to the whole hotel in general we loved it. This was our first time in Egypt and we will defo be returning. We highly recommend this hotel. We were in the block by the quiet pool and the barman Mohamed was a wonderful man. Also Hany in the restaurant. Thank you for a special holiday.

We visited Egypt for the first time and could not have picked a better, family friendly hotel. The hotel was kept immaculate and clean. Every worker we cane across were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Big mention goes to the staff down at the main family pool. Scooby from the animation team, was a firm favourite of our 10 year old. The activity program was perfect with aqua zumba, football, volleyball, foam parties, pool parties and darts. Osama from the bar at the pool, excellent service, remembered each of his customers and their preferences and never missed the children out. Ahmed Atef, one of the lifeguards. Always there offering to help with any problems, swapping beds and umbrellas. Making sure everything was as it needed ro be. Fabulous customer service and friendly. Always greeted with a huge smile and a "good morning". Muhammad from housekeeping (didn't get his surname but he was doing room 3349 8th-15th April 2026). He introduced himself on our first morning, checked we were happy with the room and made some fabulous towel art. The barman in the sports bar. Very friendly, remembering us each time we went in and had a laugh with the boys. The food was fantastic, lots of choice and flavours. Highly recommend the tandoori oven and the outdoor grill.
