Blue Marine Resort & Spa

Had a great stay at The Blue Marina Resort & Spa. The hotel was lovely, exceptional clean and all the staff we engaged with were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the ground floor with a private pool, fantastic views, plenty of space, beds very comfortable, water and soft drinks supplied daily and a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival if all inclusive. The evening buffet had a good choice of food, and although we’ve seen some reviews complaining about the selection, we personally had no issues at all. There was plenty to choose from and many different things to try throughout the week we stayed, more importantly, what was there was very tasty, the dessert section was lovely with many different sweet treats. Breakfast also offered a good variety, boiled, poached, fried and scrambled eggs, and the cooked tomatoes really were tasty, pigged out on those most mornings! and we had one meal at the Italian restaurant, which was lovely also. We’d also read some reviews complaining about the drinks, but personally we didn’t have any problems with the spirits or cocktails. The draught beer was probably only passable for me, but that’s obviously down to personal taste! And as someone who prefers craft beers more than lagers that’s just my preference. We really enjoyed the beach area. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of space and it never felt overcrowded while we were there. It was a lovely place to relax and spend time. We didn’t spend any time by the main pool area but on passing it never looked overcrowded either with plenty of space for everyone. The snacks down on the beach were also good. The staff deserve a special mention. The bar staff were very friendly and, in fact, all of the staff we encountered throughout our stay were friendly, welcoming and helpful. They really did contribute to making our stay such an enjoyable one. The location was also good for us. A taxi into Agios Nikolaos was around €12–€15 each way, or you can get the bus for just a couple of euros. From the bus station, it’s around a 15 minute walk into the main town area. We also took a trip to Kritsa, which we’d definitely recommend if you enjoy exploring traditional Greek villages. You can get there by bus for just a couple of euros, although the bus times didn’t work particularly well for us, so we decided to get a taxi in the morning from the hotel, which cost €28, possibly cheaper if you are already in Agios Nikolaos. We arrived around 9:30–10:00am when it was still fairly quiet, explored the village and then returned by bus in the afternoon. There are lots of lovely narrow back streets to wander around and explore, along with plenty of little shops, cafés and places to eat and have a drink. Overall, we had a really enjoyable and relaxing holiday at The Blue Marina Resort & Spa. Of course, everyone has different expectations and preferences when it comes to holidays, but based on our own experience, we were very happy with the hotel, the food, the beach, the staff and the overall atmosphere. We’d happily return and would have no hesitation recommending it to others looking for a relaxing Greek getaway.

We stayed at the hotel for 10 nights and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was excellent, with a great choice and consistently high quality. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, particularly the team at the beach bar and the third-floor bar, who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The only downside is the hotel’s location. The town is around 8–10 minutes away by car, so we found that hiring a car would have been more convenient. As we didn’t have one, we used taxis to and from the town, which cost around €13 each way. That said, this was a fantastic hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would definitely return and would happily recommend it to others.
