Dore Boutique Hotel

From the very first moment we arrived, we knew we were somewhere special. The first impression at reception was absolutely wonderful — warm, welcoming and professional, with staff who immediately made us feel genuinely looked after. The hotel itself is simply stunning. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, and our room was absolutely gorgeous. It was comfortable, stylish, immaculate and had everything we could have wished for. You could truly see the care and attention to detail throughout the entire hotel. And then there was the food… absolutely incredible! Every meal was delicious, with so much choice and everything beautifully prepared. We genuinely looked forward to every meal and were never disappointed. A huge thank you also goes to the amazing entertainment team, especially Maurizio. The entertainment was fantastic every single day, and we had so much fun every evening. There was always a great atmosphere, and we honestly enjoyed ourselves night after night. Maurizio brought so much energy and personality — he was one of the highlights of our stay! The restaurant staff deserve a special mention too. They were exceptionally polite, friendly and attentive, always with a smile and ready to help. The bar staff were absolutely wonderful as well — warm, welcoming and incredibly friendly. And Sofia, one of the young girls working at the hotel, deserves a special mention. She was genuinely lovely — so kind, friendly and always happy to help. People like her make a holiday even more special. ❤️ In fact, every single member of staff we met contributed to making our stay unforgettable. We felt welcomed, appreciated and looked after from beginning to end. This was without a doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed in. What made it so special wasn't just the beautiful hotel, the amazing food or the perfect cleanliness — it was the people. The atmosphere, the service and the genuine warmth of the staff made this holiday truly unforgettable. We left with amazing memories and one very clear thought: We cannot wait to come back! ❤️ Thank you to the entire team for giving us such a wonderful holiday. You were absolutely amazing!

The hotel is in a good location, a short walk to restaurants and shops etc., as well as the beach. A positive for this hotel is friendly staff who provided great service. The restaurant food was good, but as noted by some other reviewers, the choice is somewhat limited due to the small size of the hotel. Somewhat disappointing was our room (215) classed as a sea view room, which we had booked. However, the view was not a full sea view, it overlooked waste ground and some nearby properties with a very distant partial glimpse of the sea. The room itself was large with comfortable beds, and very clean, but unfortunately, being north facing, doesn't get sunshine anytime during the day or evening. The pool bar doubles up as the main bar and during inclement weather there is insufficient seating, compounded by the hotel using part of the bar area as an extension of the restaurant. There is another bar adjacent to the swim up rooms which all guests can use, but this wouldn't be any use if it was raining. It would be nice if there was a separate bar area away from the restaurant for pre and post dinner drinks, as I personally don't the configuration they have, works.

The food was good. Salads so fresh. Yes I’m fussy about meat so I didn’t eat a lot of it but it was still something for me to eat everyday. My husband ate everything! Desserts were amazing. Did we go out one or two evenings? Yes. But that was because we wanted to get out of the hotel and explore. Swim up room - amazing. We had the sunny side. I would be sad if I didn’t have it. So email in advance and ask. We did - they said they would try and accommodate depending on the availability and they did have one. Although there is plenty of sunbeds around the main pool even if you haven’t got one of these rooms - no sunbeds wars here, which is great Atmosphere - excellent. We met so any different people from all over the world. I think because it’s a boutique (smaller) hotel it was brilliant for meeting people. Entrainment - I enjoyed it. We had quiz, karaoke, Greek singers and dancers (which we really enjoyed) Location - okay it wasn’t much going on around this area at late September. But I heard from locals it’s a lot more lively until early September. But we didn’t come for that anyhow. The hotel was close enough so we could venture outside, visit different bars and other restaurants (me gusto beach bar - excellent for food) before going back to the hotel for drinks. Also, very close to the beach. And a trip to Chania on the bus for 2.40 euros each way is worth it. We had a lovely day out. The service - Excellent. Everyone is amazing and so lovely and friendly. Yes I am coming back to this hotel. This is such an amazing hotel. The service, the people I met at the hotel and the locals we spoke too - this was one of the best holidays we have had. Everything is just great. Don’t hesitate - book!

My friend and I have just departed from a 10-night stay at the Dore Hotel. This was our second visit, having first stayed here in 2023. The Room We paid for a sea-view room in the main/original building. It was almost the same room we had last time, just at the other end of the corridor. We were directly above the bar, but with the balcony door shut, you couldn’t hear a thing. We had everything we needed, and whenever there was something we required, reception were always happy to assist us. The only downside was that the window in our bathroom was difficult to close. We liked to open it after showers to ventilate the room, so this was a little inconvenient. We spoke to quite a few people about the swim-up rooms and, at one point, considered upgrading. However, we heard that one side of the swim-up rooms doesn’t get any sun at all, they also wanted to charge an additional 300 euros… so ultimately, we didn’t feel it was worth it. The Food We are both quite picky eaters, but we always left the restaurant with a full stomach. Breakfast and lunch can be a little repetitive, with many of the same foods available each day, but there was enough variety to switch things up. Dinner was definitely more varied, with something different each evening, we had Greek food, sushi, fish and chips, soups, pizzas and Chinese food and many more. There were only two downsides for us. One evening, I was the only person in our party to eat the quiche Lorraine, and I could tell it didn’t taste right. Unfortunately, I was then sick that evening. On another occasion at lunchtime, some of the peppers appeared to be mouldy. Other than those two instances, we ate everything without any issues and generally really enjoyed the food. Drinks There is a wide variety of alcohol available as part of the all-inclusive package. We aren’t massive wine or beer drinkers, but we do love mixers and cocktails, and we really enjoyed the selection. Some of the cocktails can be quite sweet, but we liked them all! The Entertainment The entertainer, Maurice, is a one-man band, and we really have to praise the effort he puts into everything he does. The energy he puts into the games and the time he takes to speak to everyone is really lovely. For us, the highlights were the Greek dancing, live music performance from the lady with the saxophone, bingo and quiz nights. We aren’t big dancers, so on the evenings when we just wanted to relax and socialise, we sometimes felt a little ‘pestered’ to get up and dance. We spoke to several other holidaymakers who felt the same way. We also only did the aqua aerobics a handful of times. We would have happily done it every day, but we realised it was the exact same song and routine each time, which made it difficult for us to stay engaged. Location This was one of the main reasons we came back. The hotel backs onto the main road through Agia Marina, is within walking distance of the beach, and the bus stop into Chania town is right outside the hotel. It’s incredibly easy to get around, and we would definitely recommend taking the bus into Chania rather than a taxi. Staff This was the second main reason we returned. We would like to give a huge thank you and our appreciation to the restaurant staff, bar staff and everyone working behind the scenes, including the room cleaners. Everyone was polite, friendly and funny, and you could tell that looking after the guests was always their top priority. Luggage As we had stayed here before, we knew there was an ample luggage room which was locked and secure. When we were leaving, we were quite disappointed to be told to leave our suitcases in the corner of reception instead. It’s only a small thing, but we wanted to be honest about our experience. Overall, we had another really enjoyable stay at the Dore Hotel and wouldn’t rule out returning again. We would happily recommend the hotel to others.

Great Stay at Dore hotel, Lovely welcome and then upgraded to swim up pool. Swim up pools on the left of the photo are in the shade all day and the ones in the right are in the sun all day. On arrival we paid the Tourist tax which was 70 euro for 2 of us for the week. Had good drinks and good food whilst there so no complaints from us. The staff are ALL lovely with shout outs to Sylvy, Stelios, Alexandra particularly but all very helpful and understanding. The beach is only 5 mins walk away with the sea being warm and shallow and lots of beach areas to chose from. Like others the local bus is only 2.5 euro pp to Chania and well worth a visit or two. Muero the hotel entertainer is a lovely guy always trying to get you involved in his games and aqua arobics. Does a few nights enertainment s well. Our fav night was the Saxophone and singer who came to entertain us. There is a TV in the bar that shows footy of other sports if you ask at the bar so that was a good find. We booked this hotel 6 months ago due to the reviews and we weren't let down . Cheers All at Dore
