Mary Hotel

Ten out of ten for our stay at Mary Hotel! Everything was perfect from the lovely room, with a queen sized bed and a balcony overlooking the pool, fantastic room servicing on a daily basis from the delightful, friendly cleaning staff, two fantastic pools to choose from with plenty of sun loungers regularly available, and a lovely air-conditioned lounge where we could catch our favourite football team! The staff were always helpful and super friendly and we were made to feel so welcome. The hotel is perfectly situated in the village of Platanias. It is a minute’s walk from the main strip where you can find a multitude of restaurants, souvenir shops and a couple of good supermarkets, or three minutes in the other direction and you are at the beach. Despite its proximity to the action, the resort itself is extremely quiet. When you fancy, you can hop on a number 20 bus to Rethymno and spend time exploring the delightful old town. If I had one tiny niggle it would be that the gym doesn’t have a rowing machine, which my husband had hoped to use. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would recommend it wholeheartedly to everyone.

Wonderful stay. The whole place was spotlessly clean, all facilities you could need. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and their knowledge of the island trips and transport was amazing. Would definitely come again

The hotel is in a great spot, close to the beach and plenty of restaurants, with a handy car park for the hire car. It was about a 20 minute car journey to Rethymno Old Town and there was a regular bus from near the hotel. The hotel has a really calm, relaxed atmosphere: small, quiet and easy to unwind in. The staff were friendly and approachable, and their recommendations for places to visit and eat were genuinely helpful. Our room was modern, spacious and well equipped, with two ceramic hobs and everything you would need for simple cooking. Having a Lidl within walking distance made stocking up easy. The main bed was very comfortable, and the sofa converted into two single beds for the kids, with a proper door separating the rooms. Both swimming pools were peaceful and we never had to compete for sunloungers. The gym looked well stocked, although I did not use it. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice, including local dishes- the kids were very happy. Although it is a bed and breakfast hotel, the bar serves lunch and we found that the food was just as good as the nearby tavernas. The barman also makes a great selection of cocktails and happy hour made them better value. Overall, it is a lovely hotel and a great base for exploring the Rethymno area. I would happily stay there again.
