Mary Royal Suites

I travelled to Crete with my wife at the end of May, staying for 11 nights in a one bedroom apartment on a self catering basis. We had never been to Crete before so wasn't really sure what to expect, although we did our research and the reviews for the hotel were exceptional. When we arrived we were more than surprised at the cleanliness of the hotel, I know the reviews were good but we weren't expecting THIS good. From the outset the reception and bar staff were so approachable and helpful, Sophia, Maria, George to mention a few. We were shown to our room, a room with a balcony overlooking the rear pool....it wouldn't have been out of place in a 4* or 5* hotel, to say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. The bar is usually run by George who is such a nice person and more than willing to accommodate any drink you request. Many a time we shared a drink or two in Georges company. Sophia and Maria (apologies if I have any of the names wrong) are such lovely ladies, nothing is too much trouble....they are a credit to the hotel. The beach is literally a 3 minute walk away, it has a lovely beach bar serving snacks and drinks, there's also another restaurant which is attached to a hotel. It has a little more choice with food but more expensive. Rethymnon is beautiful with it's winding Greek streets with plenty of bars and restaurants. We preferred the town to the harbour but it's all so beautiful. It's well worth a visit or 2, we used to get the bus there and back, it only cost just over 6 euros for both of us.....Don't get off at the University, it's nowhere near the center!!! We are already looking to return the same time next year, many of the guests we spoke with have been back year after year....9, 10 years in a row, that's how good this Hotel is.

Excellent hotel beautiful friendly and very helpful staff. I highly recommend this place its location is perfect for beach, restaurants and local grocery stores. A short bus or taxi ride into Rethimon town which is stunning.

The owner, Kostas, was very kind to let us check in late at night. We called after midnight due to unexpected circumstances, and he even offered us a complimentary breakfast on the first day. The rooms were cleaned and the towels changed every day. The staff and receptionists were all very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Upon departure, we received a beautiful gift – a bottle of olive oil. Overall, we had a very nice stay and would definitely recommend it.

Our 7-night stay at Mary Hotel was an absolute joy. We arrived quite late at night but were instantly made to feel welcome. Our room, as everything else, was spotlessly clean. Air conditioning was excellent and room was serviced daily with clean towels. Reception staff was outstanding, offering help and advice with charm and warmth. A special thank you to Sophia, who helped make our stay exceptional. We looked forward to breakfast every morning with fresh home-made pastries and a fantastic selection of fruit, local cheeses and eggs. Once again, the warmth of the daily greeting and attention to our individual preferences was touching. Mary Hotel and its delightful staff exceeded all expectations - very highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel. Amazing family and staff Rooms cleaned daily. The bedding changed mid week. Lots of holiday makers returning year after year. We had a lovely week I had an accident while there the staff couldn’t do enough to help making appointments for me asking if I was okay Very good location 5 minutes from the beach. And 5 minutes walk from tavernas also not hilly for those with walking difficulties For those who are looking at this hotel do not hesitate to book it Only 12-15 euros in a taxi to rethymno which is also very nice lovely cobbled street a harbour I can honestly say that this hotel was by far the nicest hotel I have stayed in in Greece Would definitely return
