ALL staff so helpful - reception staff were exceptional- any question/query was sorted, not forgetting the staff at bar round pool - always welcoming! Rooms big, bed was comfy, clean room but not a lot of hanging/storage place for clothes, we managed, but very tight hanging. Bathroom was on small size & due a bit of refurb - but again manageable, but think the whole room we were in (112) was due for a little makeover? balcony was small, as aircon unit took up some space & leaked water on floor of balcony, pipe was taped up, but leak was underneath, had to watch out in dark so as not to slip in it, did report it, plastic piping replaced but still leaked. Climbing plants on wall outside balcony attracted mosquitos in evening so take plenty of repellent as also needed when out in evening. 1st week food was good, then in 2nd week seemed to cater for whichever nationality was in majority, we like greek food, but as said, we both felt choice depleted then. we ate out a lot that 2nd week after checking daily menu. Breakfast was OK. The sunbeds were plentiful & set around pool in grass areas. The hotel is family run & they were always around. Very clean. The local village is small, quaint, some lovely restaurants & cafes/bars. Rethymonm 'old town' short taxi ride or bus ride was lovely, lanes draped in flowers & shops plentiful. Harbour was good to explore. Enjoyed our stay, very peaceful, but would have given a '5' but for balcony & food choice for us.

Great hotel, kind of boutique hotel just a bit larger, outside the crowded Rethymon but easy to reach from there. Nice garden and pool, Very clean. Lovely people, seems to me it is one big family, all with passion for the hotel and their guests. Good buffet in the morning and evening, we had half-pension. Drinks are not to expensive. They made a path through the dry river to reach the beach, beach is then only a few minutes away.

We ended up at the May Beach Hotel due to our original hotel being cancelled 10 days before. However, the May Beach hotel was perfect, the family ran business made sure our stay was everything we hoped for. We had a lovely room, decorated in a modern style with a comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. The bathroom was on the small side but we managed. We were all inclusive, the food was excellent, always plenty to choose from throughout the day. The drinks menu was what you would expect for all inclusive, however the cocktails were disappointing as served in regular glass with no fruit or decoration which would have been nice considering we were on holiday. Be aware that all-inclusive drinks are only served until 11pm and after that you have to pay. The location was perfect for the local village, which was a 10 minute walk, where there was plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. A visit to the old town was either a cab or bus ride away and we visited this area twice. The beach was just down a short pathway and easy to locate. The family were always present and worked along side their friendly and helpful staff to deliver excellent service and a feel good vibe. On the whole we had a quiet, relaxing and enjoyable stay at the May Beach Hotel.
