Nana Golden Beach

It was our first visit to Nana Golden and Crete. Overall all we had a wonderful holiday although a few discrepancies at the beginning of our holiday regarding our room as we felt it wasn’t the upgrade that we paid for. We mentioned it at the beginning of our holiday to reception and was told we get what we are given. A few days later we spoke to the Tui rep who escalated our concerns and within hours we got a positive response from the hotel management team and they immediately rectified the problem and changed our room. The Hotel has plenty of activities for all ages and lovely pool areas to choose from and the beach was good , plenty of water sports to choose from. My husband enjoyed the jet ski ( an extra cost but worth it) and we enjoyed swimming and snorkelling in the sea. The A La Carte restaurants are a nice change from the main buffet, easy to book when you arrive via the QR code, the buffet had plenty of food choices and the staff were always welcoming. At lunchtime we had plenty of different areas to choose from to eat , our favourite was the Poseidon restaurant and the pool area there too was lovely. As we were seafront room we had the opportunity to have breakfast every morning at Thalassis which was by the beach. The staff were always very welcoming, made us feel at home and always went the extra mile especially Konstanina , Haris always made sure we had tea and coffee available, nothing was ever a problem, a lovely start to our day,, thankyou. Different evening entertainment, the music in the evening at the Anemis bar was nice and the karaoke bar was fun. The hotel grounds are kept very clean and tidy and the gardens dotted around are very pretty. Our room was cleaned every day to a high standard. I think we will most likely return and even be happy to bring our family too.

Firstly we did find ourselves in potentially the smallest sea front room (720) at 18m sq. and without a full length mirror, something important to my wife and part of the mandatory items for upgraded (~£500) sea front rooms. Fortunately half way through our stay we got the room next door which was closer to the 30m sq. advertised room size and had the mirror which made a difference. The space was key though, as I literally had to dodge my suitcase and rucksack every time I got in and out of my bed. Everything else was great though as the staff couldn’t do more for us everywhere we went. The jewel in the crown was the Thalassa daily breakfast. Konstantina is one of the nicest women you will ever meet and her staff, particularly Harris and Maria (and all the others) worked tirelessly. Having such a good start to the day really set the tone for the remainder of the day, so thank you Konstantina and the Thalassa staff. There’s so many options here and we tried most of them. Orama bar could maybe do with some additional advertising and listing when live music was on or not. We enjoyed a couple of evening there but it was a shame it was so few people knew it existed. Our favourite lunch location was Poseidon. We preferred the adjacent pool area which also provided good access to the sea for snorkelling. Rooms were cleaned very well daily, Malia is an easy walk. There were so many reasons why we enjoyed things here more compared to recent Mexico, St Lucia and Dominican 5 star holidays but the stand out reason was the staff, like Konstantina, the way they all help each other out, including in the Artemis restaurant and so many appeared to be happy and give us warm greeting. We’d love to come back basically.
