We’ve had again a great holiday in this resort. You can find food and drinks everywhere. Big thanks to Carmen for the heartwarming welcome in the main restaurant. 😘 It was great to seeing a lot of people from last year - Ben, Alan, Giorgia 🥰. And so many people I don’t know the name of. They still remembered us from last year - so that’s a good thing I guess 🙈. Toni left the dolphin bar unfortunately, but Leonardo did a good job. 👍🏼 Thumbs also up for Bella - she’s greatt ! Hope to see you all next year. ❤️

We have spent 2 weeks here, and will bullet point our experience: Positives: * staff are great - engaging, chatty and very helpful * Rooms are very clean, as are facilities generally * There is so much choice for relaxing - multiple pools/beach loungers/ cliff loungers with direct access to the sea * Facilities are fantastic, tennis/padel/ 2 gyms, pools, watersports (although expensive in comparison to local options) * Food - I believe it’s 22 hours of unlimited food, buffet is of a good standard generally - the 3-5pm availability of gyros is great. * Drinks - at the lobby bar - it is premium spirits and great cocktails. * Kids club - the facilities/area are fantastic - airconned, shaded outdoor softplay, baby facilities, toddler waterpark, and the staff are absolutely fantastic. Overall, for the price we paid we’ve found this to be a great hotel - however next years prices, we’re not sure. If you want to stay at the hotel, and have your needs covered/have small children, not wanting to leave - absolutely book this hotel! The following negatives/points to improve on are our views only - and fully appreciate everyone is different/looks for different things on a holiday. Areas for improvement: * the waterpark. Whilst a great addition, and loved by kids and adults alike, it is also an area of injury, ha. Our 9yr old son took all the skin off his thumb at the bottom of one slide, and the the slides are now quite painful on your back - you can feel the joins, and will come away with scrapes. * Ants. There are ants everywhere - while I understand these are a global pest, I feel they could do more to alleviate then in your garden/communal areas - we have been bitten daily. * Food. Again, this is personal, we felt the food could be improved. Especially at the al a Cartes. We found the service to be slow and the food disappointing. We loved the fact you cannot serve yourself at the main buffet (for hygeine reasons) but found the offerings lacking in flavour, and meat options to be tough. An area we liked but felt could be hugely improved was the poolside late night offering (from 22.30 onwards) they serve gyros meat, pasta, rice, chips and nuggets, but no tzatziki, pita, anything that would go with rice… we felt pizza would be good (honestly the pizza here is amazing - and we don’t normally like pizza! Ha) and a few more nicer offerings. * Greek coffees 🤣 again, this is very niche, and our personal bugbare - we love Greek frappes/freddo cappuccino/freddo etc, and the only places you can get these prior to 10am are the main buffet breakfast restaurant. Just feel you should be able to access these from early morning. * Entertainment. I will caveat this section with the entertainment staff work so hard! They do the kids club/ the pool activities/the kids disco AND some of the shows. However, the entertainment we found very disappointing, the mama Mia show especially. Whilst we rarely stay/book hotels for these shows, it’s something to consider if you do. * Kids club. Again. Niche. The hotel is very German centric (so if your German, excellent!) but our son often found he was the only English child there, again, staff are great! And speak all languages required. they offer a variety of activities (PlayStation club, daily activities and movies) however - we felt like the ‘inbetween’ ages - ie 8-11 could do with a tweak, as seemed quite ‘young’ for this age group, and as a boy - they rarely piqued his interest. * Pool areas. The pool areas are very clean, however they are SO slippery! We saw daily children and adults alike falling over - feel like the surrounding areas would benefit from some non slip treatment. * Drinks. The quality of drinks massively varies depending on where you get them. Cocktails from the main lobby bar are nearly always excellent. However the main pool bar are awful. (Also wine is not served at all bars fyi) * Location. This absolutely cannot be helped by the hotel, and is again something we as a family found tricky. So not sure it’s fair to pop in here - but will for people like us who deep dive into reviews. Location wise the hotel isn’t in the best spot on Crete (we have done Crete a few times, but always chania side, this was our first time Heraklion side) we hire a car everytime we come abroad to explore, and went to the Rethmyno side, which is beautiful, but a 2 hour drive, so something to consider. I would say this side of the island isn’t as pretty. Overall, hotel wise - a great stay, and would recommend for people who like to stay in the hotel, with small children. Honestly the staff are fantastic. A few things to note - there is no room service (due to ants) and if you are celebrating, you must use a outside company at additional cost to decorate the room (€40 for the balloons in photos) no cake allowed in the room. We have enjoyed our stay, but would not return mainly due to location.
