Do not stay here this is a 3 star at most. Had to change rooms smelled like cat urine. Rooms are way outdated, mildew in shower. Staff not friendly and horrible mystery food. Our travel company booked us here or I would have checked out and gone somewhere else.

There were lots of good points to our stay and I'll start with them: - the staff were mostly great, efficient, and friendly - beautiful sea view from our balcony - hotel grounds are lovely, and full of friendly cats (helps if you're a cat lover of course) - short walk to the beach - breakfast was excellent and varied Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially if you have older children or teenagers: - the rooms are dated and worn looking. We had a big damp patch in the wall/ceiling in the bathroom, while the sofa bed smelled very musty, as if it had gotten damp recently and never quite dried - at peak times, it was difficult to speak to the receptionist due to queues (possibly short -staffed?), and the restaurant could get very busy with servers unavailable as a result - both indoor and outdoor pools were very cold and difficult to spend much time in - it's advertised as having an arcade, but this seemed to consist of two shabby pool tables, one virtually unusable as it's on a slight slope so the balls roll, with broken cues and no chalk. Air hockey machine was broken and the one other game was badly worn and in need of maintenance - the advertised entertainment at the pool bar didn't happen at all on the one night we tried to stay for it - after that, we found our own evening entertainment down in Agia Marina or in Chania - communication with the hotel before our stay was difficult - I emailed the address on the website twice in the run up to our holiday and never received a reply. I asked the travel company I booked through to try, and they also didn't get a reply (the request was about a dietary requirement and thankfully it wasn't a problem as the dinner buffet was pretty good and varied, at least for adults...my 11 year old son did not love it, and we ate out instead a few times as a result) Overall, I think couples might enjoy the more adult vibes of this hotel but I wouldn't recommend it for families and don't view it as a four star establishment due mainly to the rooms and the lack of communication in advance.

Really pleasant stay, details were clear on arrival at reception and we were kindly shown to our room. The room itself I did not like, quite dated with tiles on all floors which felt cold and sink in the bed room because of the small bathroom however, balcony was nice but could do with more privacy between rooms. Pool grounds were fantastic with pool chairs being great quality and always available. The staff were very efficient and entertainment was amazing, really recommend the Cretian night. Food was nice although not a lot of variety. This hotel is great value for money, highly recommended. I also recommend the little fun train Highland experience, its amazing and not just for children! Just be aware this hotel is on a steep hill and to get to the lift - you have to walk halfway up the hill so not an easy trail!.

Im solo traveler, I came in the middle of September, the location of Theo Hotel are great, the bus stop is very close so you can easily take a trip to Chania Town and see beautiful Old Town, also from Chania you can take a bus to another city Rethymno, the staff are friendly, excellent customer service from reception, bar staff and restaurant , always happy to help you with anything you need , the hotel is located on the cliff but have own lift so no issues to get downtown where you have local taverns and lots of small shops , thank you Theo Hotel for pleasant holiday

If you like spending 4star plus prices for at the best 3 star hotel this is the one for you . We booked a room with a garden view on arrival was taken to one of there least modernized rooms of the hotel that more resembled cell block h. Our garden view was a banana plant that litterely covered our balcony which rose up from a car park . Not exactly a garden view . On complaining on a few occasions was told it was a garden view . When asked if the manager would come and explain the view was told either he was busy or not at the hotel . So we never got to speak with the manager . Which we found unacceptable. We paid a price to get what we thought would be a lovely hotel and room . But left very dissatisfied that one the room wasn't fit for a 4star plus hotel and two the manager couldn't be bothered to come and see us. We also stayed on a half board deal. Now we have stayed on this sort of deal everytime we go away and know really what to expect but with this hotel found after a few days the food to be very similar every day. And not the hottest . Bland and basic . The only positive I could say is that the reception area bar area and pool area are lovely with great views. Also majority of the staff were friendly. Summing up we are not people who moan about things . But after a hard year and deciding to pay more than we would normally do . Was very let down by this hotel and its manager .
