This is a wonderful old fashioned (in a good way) hotel with a traditional welcoming vibe. We stayed in a studio for three which had all the amenities for making tea/coffee and a good size fridge and a kettle. Beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful but the star of the show is Chrisoula who serves breakfast, lunch and drinks by the pool. She is worth her weight in gold. The pool is huge and surrounded by olive trees for shade. People come back year after year and I can see why, they are greeted by staff with delight and joy. The hotel doesn’t serve evening meals but there are several good restaurants nearby, we ate mostly at the Meltemi which has a lovely terrace with views across the bay, good service and excellent food. I recommend the salmon and the mushroom risotto, my husband loved the the jack daniels marinated pork ribs and the tomahawk pork steak. If you’re put off by the distance from the airport don’t be! We had taxis provided to and from the airport and the drive was very pleasant with spectacular views of tiny churches, olive groves and of course the mountains of Crete. We had a great holiday and thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful two week holiday at this Hotel. Got off to a bad start, arriving at 03:30 in the morning to find that reception was closed and noone was around. Saw that there were messages for other late arrivers stuck on the glass doors of the reception area, but nothing for us. Had to ring up Jet2 24/7 helpline, who turfed Nikos, the manager, out of bed. He wasn't expecting us and had no knowledge of our booking. He put us up in a spare room for the rest of the night. In the morning, we met him again and everything was sorted out and we were given a lovely room in the main building, so all was well. Nikos is a great guy and speaks perfect English. The room was quite charming in an old fashioned way, it was like going back to the Greece of 25 years ago, but it was comfortable and everything worked. The bathroom badly needed updating, but it was usable and there was plenty of hot water at all times. We had an inland view over the gardens and out towards the mountains behind. It was very quiet at night, the AC worked well. there was a deep matress toper, and so we slept very well. The breakfast was more than adequate, but all the hot food was barely lukewarm. To be fair, there was a George Foreman type grill that you could warm your bacon and sausages up on if you wanted. The coffee machine worked well and there were big mugs available. However the layout of the buffet needs a rethink. The pool is fantastic and the pool bar, is excellent. Run by the tireless bundle of energy Chrisoula, it opens somewhere between 11:00 and 12:00 and you can get all manner of drinks, icecreams and food is available. Later in the afternoon, Nikos number two takes over until the early hours. He is a rogue and a charmer, with a very dry sense of humour, the place would not be the same without him, and along with the rest of the staff, he will make sure you have a good holiday. Makry Gialos town centre is a 10 minute walk away if you get a move on and don't dawdle in the many shops and supermarkets on the way. There are plenty of bars and restaurants there and in nearby Analipsi and we had some really good meals. The beach is two minutes away and is a long stretch of sand, perfect for sand-castle construction. The sea is easy to enter as there are no pebbles and the bottom is sandy. The Hotel has a good collection of Sun Umbrellas and beach mats that others have left behind, that you can use, but there are plenty of "sets" available on the beach, some of which are free as long as you buy your drinks and snacks at the beach bars. I would thouroughly recommend this Hotel and can see why people come back year after year,
