Zeus Ydoria Resort

My husband and i spent a week at the end of October and our stay was really good. Hotel was modern, clean and staff we couldn't fault, always a smile. Considering we were at the end of the season the food was plentiful with enough choice to not get bored. Even the entertainment was still on right up to the last night we were there. Lots for kids to do there that we could see with the slides and splash pool and 3 other pools too. The only thing I could say would be an improvement is a mirror in the room (only one is in the bathroom) and possibly a chair. Overall fantastic stay.

Overall enjoyed our experience here. Few pointers for improvement would be the room was in need of upgrade especially the showers they were just small shower heads to hold and try to wash yourself and your hair which wasn't easy doing that one handed with a shower in hand. The shower curtain wasnt long enough to keep the water inside shower area either. The snack bar man was extremely miserable every day and there was limited options for vegetarian. We found the buffet often with so much fish or pork dishes would be nice for some more variety. This would not stop us returning as the location was excellent for walks to the beach, local shops and close to rethymno which is beautiful. The entertainment staff were great with the kids and reception staff always helpful. Quizzes went down well with everyone and the flumes were great fun too. We had mostly nice weather but noticed the lack of indoor bar when weather not as good.

We’re still enjoying our 10 day stay, and we honestly couldn’t be happier. The hotel has a lovely boutique feel, with quite a few pools to choose from. We were told the hotel was fully booked, but you’d never know it. There are always sunbeds available, and we’ve never struggled to find a table in the restaurant. Everything is really well organised. The food is great, with plenty of choice, and the hotel is spotless. The WiFi is also excellent throughout the hotel. Our swim up room is genuinely five star, with lovely little touches such as the really nice shampoo and shower gel, as well as a nice bottle of wine. What really stands out is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, from the lifeguards and cleaners to the restaurant team. They’re all brilliant with children, and you really feel that nothing is too much trouble. Our daughter absolutely loves the kids club and insists on going every day. We’ve had wonderful weather throughout our 10 days, and with such a lovely hotel and fantastic service, we really couldn’t ask for more. I’d happily recommend it.

We came here at the end of September, after a very long transfer and arriving at the hotel we were greeted with some hot food which we found nice. We stayed on the second floor, the room was basic and needed a lick of paint and maybe something on the walls to brighten it up a little. One thing I didn’t like, only 1 mirror in the room and this was in the bathroom, so I was unable to get ready when my partner was using the shower, a floor length mirror in the room would be ideal. We also had no storage for cases or a chair to sit down, the rooms aren’t very soundproof and you can hear everything going on around you when you’re trying to sleep. The room and entire hotel was clean, and there were always plenty of sunbeds (I don’t know if this is because the weather was poor). The food was good with plenty of options and being replenished all the time. There are a few shops and restaurants nearby, however not much to do in the vicinity unless you got on the bus or a taxi to rethymno which I do advise doing as it’s a beautiful place. Bar staff very friendly and remember drink orders after a couple of times going up. We had rather bad weather during our stay, and there’s not much to do when the weather is rainy, I feel like the hotel would benefit from an indoor area with a bar so you could sit inside of an evening. Entertainment was poor and very repetitive and didn’t start until 10pm which we thought was a bit late for it to just be starting. Overall the hotel is nice but could be improved massively, we wouldn’t stay here again.

Rooms were ok, but it was noisy at night, despite not much going on in the evenings.. Breakfast good. Snack bar for lunch was served by the most miserable man on the planet. The gyros were nice if you could get them but he disappeared each time you wanted serving and most other hot food ran out too. There were some nice dishes at dinner, which was very crowded when we were there On a plus, there were usually beds available by the pool, which was well kept and nice, but I guess we were unlucky with the weather at the end of September too, so I wouldn't recommend coming here at this time of year.
