Flegra Palace

If you book room 515, you can wait fantastic view to the deep blue sea and amazing mountain range on other side, you get beautiful sunrise every morning and cosy sunshine first in the morning. Room has 2 tv-s, nice big toilet/showers/make up area. Balcony was always clean, very close to nature so you sence sweet sence of flowers and trees nearby. Bed was comfortable and well equipped with extra pillows. Sleeping was nice and quiet, absolutely no loud music or drunk people, very happy with that experience. Hoter breakfast was compact but there was everything you need, egg, bacon, beans, mushrooms, 5-6 different cheese and ham, coffe, sweets etc. Hotel is short walk from town, for those with high heels there is 2 taxis in town. About 5euro per trip. Hotel staff is professional, had answers for every question, recommended small daytrips and had good sence of humour. Around hotel is about 10 very friendly cats, they are really sweet and gracious.

The gave us a room that was very noisy and never replaced it. We couldn't sleep at night. If you get there don't take room 604. The breakfast was the same every day.

Flegra is located about 10-15 min walk from the main 'strip' where you will find plenty of restaurants and bars. It is also a short walk from there to the beachfront where there are more restaurants and shops. We did notice many were closed due to being off season but were enough to get by for a week. There is a discount market (like a mini aldi/lidl) about 5/10 mins from the hotel where we got drinks and snacks from. The walk to the supermarket and strip were fairly well lit and and had a pavement so felt safe when walking back after dark. Flegra was lovely...a small resort but quiet, comfortable, clean and modern. The rooms were quite small but adequate for 2 adults with a balcony or terrace. They were also equipped with a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. There was an on site restaurant/snack bar but we generally ate out in the town each evening- definitely recommend Il Forno and Capri Pizza! We were on a bed and breakfast package and the breakfast was plentiful- lots of choice which I was pleasantly surprised by- pastries, toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt and a cooked option. We generally didn't bother with lunch..just some snacks! There were plenty of beds around the pool area although only half got the sun all day. The pool was lovely but one of the coldest I have ever experienced! I got in a few times but literally for a few mins and back out to warm up and dry off lol! We arrived at the hotel around 2pm and was told the room would be ready in 15 mins so we sat and waited round the pool- after half an hour stil no update so we asked again- we were told another 5 mins. This ended up being an hour so didn't get into our room till 3ish. I later realised check in was from 3pm but would have rather been told this on our arrival as we would have left the bags and gone for a walk rather than wait around! A very pleasant week for a bit of autumn sun- weather was around 20-25c most of the week with some cloudy days. Would deffo recommend Flegra to others - a lovely hotel!

Fantastic hotel, loved that the rooms are cleaned daily & fresh towels. Breakfast was great, good choice & tasty. Staff on reception excellent, bit hit & miss on bar staff purely as often they would be busier talking to other rather than taking orders. That being said there was one stand out member of staff Constantine “Cotstas” always friendly and attentive plus quite funny. Had an issue with the shower as it just whipped round & round due to poor fixing in wall, did mention it first full day but nothing was done. We managed & the cleaning ladies were so good didn’t want to make a fuss. Definitely would recommend great location & aside from little bits top notch.

We stayed here for two weeks as a couple in their mid twenties. It has a boutique feel about it and has lovely grounds with lots of flowers and olive trees. The rooms are cleaned every day to a high level and have everything you could need including a fridge big enough to store litre bottles in which was handy for storing bottles of water etc. There are two supermarkets a 10 min walk away. If you appreciate a lot of wardrobe space you may find it difficult as we stayed in an executive double room and it had no drawer storage and the wardrobe was open plan (like an exposed rail). We found this fine but others may have issues. There is also no iron in the room but the reception were happy to provide one when we asked, on the basis you return it after use. There were no noise issues in the room we stayed in and we had a lovely balcony view over some olive trees and flowers, for those who want a private balcony I would pay extra to ensure this as ours did look over other buildings and their balconies. The spa was closed during our stay which was disappointing as we were hoping for a massage and the beach club affiliated with the hotel (Mare Nostra) is not included and very expensive in comparison to other very good options for beach clubs in the area. The pool is lovely and very scenic, cleaned well every day, although the chemicals used did turn all of our lighter coloured swimwear yellow (I would recommend taking darker colours). People did reserve sunbeds every day but on the days we went out and came back at lunchtime, there were still beds available, just not in the prime area for sunbathing. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold foods and was enough to fuel us for the day, but with us staying for two weeks we did opt to go out for brunch sometimes for a bit of variety. The set up at breakfast caused a lot of unnecessary queues, as the coffee machine, juice, toast station and cutlery are all in one area as you enter the door. This could be solved by moving the coffee machine (which was the cause for most of the queuing) to the other side of the room. Quality of food in the pool bar is very good and so are the cocktails. Prices vary, some things are similar to what you’d pay in town but others such as coffees cost you six euros and a lot of the time they were half full? There is a great coffee shop down the road, a ten minute walk, called coffee island which we went to instead most days, with high quality coffee for around 3 euros and lovely staff. The staff make this hotel 5/5 as they are incredibly helpful and friendly and everybody always seems busy making the experience as good as possible for the guests. The surrounding area is great, there are plenty of very good quality options for evening meals, lunch and brunch, as well as beach clubs and bars if you want something more lively. You should walk into the old square as well as the main area. The 15 min walk was no issue for us but I could see this being an issue for families with small children or people who are not as able, as the walk is along a busy main road and is not very well lit with street lights. We did not see any taxis when we were out and assume this may be an issue if you had called a taxi to get into town from the hotel, with no way of calling one to get back - uber is not a thing here. But again, this was no issue for us as we enjoyed the walk after a meal. We felt very safe in the surrounding area and everyone we met was friendly and it was clear they took pride in their work, from the hotel to bars and quality of food in restaurants. We would come back and definitely recommend!
