Mitsis Alexander the Great

We stayed at Alexander the Great Beach Hotel from August 10–16, and unfortunately, our overall experience was quite disappointing, especially considering the price we paid. The biggest issue for us was the food. For an all-inclusive hotel, the choice at the buffet was surprisingly limited, and, more importantly, the quality of the food was very poor. If you are Greek, you will most likely be particularly disappointed, but even if you have simply visited Greece before and experienced the wonderful Mediterranean cuisine, you will probably find the food here far below expectations. Another disappointment was breakfast. There was no option to order a proper coffee, and, incredibly for a hotel in Greece, Greek coffee was not available at all. For us, this was a very strange and disappointing. Fortunately, we were given a renovated pilot room, which was quite good overall. However, even there, some repairs were clearly still needed. For example, the shower door was not properly fitted, resulting in water coming out into the bathroom every time we showered. There were also some maintenance and hygiene concerns around the hotel. At times, there was a strong sewage smell in the gardens outside the hotel, and occasionally we noticed the same unpleasant smell around the reception area. The tennis court was another disappointment. Although it was supposedly operational, there were two holes in the ground, which made it unsafe to use. It was only cleaned the day before we left, despite us staying for a full week. Overall, it is a big shame that we paid so much for our stay and did not feel that we received anything close to the value for money we expected from an all-inclusive hotel of this level. On the positive side, we consistently encountered welcoming, kind, and helpful staff who genuinely tried their best to support the operation despite the shortcomings. A special thank you to Vana at the entrance/parking area, who was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay. The beach was also very nice, and we were able to find sun beds every day. It was also great that we could get fresh beach towels every day. The snacks and lunch served at the beach were actually much better than the main buffet! There was also a golf cart shuttle available to take guests up and down to the main area of the hotel from the beach, which was very convenient. Many thanks to all the staff for their friendliness and efforts. Unfortunately, however, the food quality, limited choice, maintenance issues, and overall value for money made this a disappointing experience for us.

The beach is excellent as is the service of the staff on it. I would especially like to praise the children's animator Anastasia who does a great job! The food should be more varied for a 4* hotel. The hotel is ripe for renovation

Disappointment with the Pool Unfortunately, my experience with the pool was quite disappointing. I had brought an inflatable pool float with a mesh bottom and wanted to use it, but the lifeguard would not allow me to enter the pool with it. There was only one other person in the entire pool at the time, sitting in a corner, so I found this rule quite difficult to understand. Another disappointment was the pile of pine needles in one corner of the pool, which remained there throughout our entire twelve-day stay. I would have expected the pool to be cleaned more regularly, especially at a hotel of this caliber. Apart from the pool, however, everything else was very good. All the staff were very kind, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay. The food was also good, and I especially appreciated that it was served warm rather than cold. Overall, we had a pleasant stay despite the issues with the pool.

The staff here are amazing. So friendly and helpful. I want to send a special heartfelt thank you to Anastasia in the Kids Zone part of the complex. Thank you for creating amazing adventures and arts and crafts and giggles with our 4 year old son. Anastasia is fantastic and puts so much of her heart and soul into creating such a safe, nurturing and creative space for little ones. I highly recommend Anastasia. Our little boy is still playing with the cardboard sword and shield they made together! Thank you so much.
