TUI BLUE Lagoon Princess

I felt compelled to write a review, because I was seriously put off reading some of them before our holiday. However, I think lots of the complaints people had were mostly unfounded or a bit dramatic really. We travelled as a big group - 8 adults and 5 kids. I’d say the hotel is clearly geared toward families, and I wouldn’t go here as just a couple. The staff were friendly on the whole, the place was spotless, and there was a great choice of pools that never felt overcrowded - no sunbed hogging which was great, and with a group our size meant we could always get sunbeds together. The entertainment team deserve a mention too. They’re working hard with limited material, and brilliant with the kids. We really enjoyed the daytime pool activities, like Aqua Aerobics, water polo, and the floating mat especially. The kids disco was a hit with our littlest, and we all enjoyed the nightly quiz. But the evening entertainment was a bit crap. Our family were a group of 5 (me and my partner, and kids aged 15, 10, and 3) and we stayed in a Family Suite. This had a large double bed, and then door dividers separating another room with a double sofa bed and a single armchair bed. With the dividers closed, the smaller room was quite cramped. We had two bathrooms and a balcony - multiple bathrooms was definitely welcome while we all were getting ready in the afternoons! Food gets an unfair rap in some reviews I’d read. Multiple people in our party are vegan, and there was genuinely wide vegan and vegetarian selection every night, clearly labelled, and the Taverna at lunch has a whole row dedicated to it. It does get a bit repetitive after a few days, but it's far from inedible. You can book both restaurants, The Green Grill and The Taverna, once each per week. We ate in the Taverna on my birthday and it was fine but nothing special. The water park next door (in the Queen) was a highlight for us. We paid €55 for five of us for the day, with five slides, a lazy river, a baby pool, and a kids' slide pool. You get a wristband and free run of the snack bars and drinks while you're there. I’d definitely recommend it. We also did a few water sports down at the beach, including the Crazy Couch, which were reasonably priced and fun. The beach is nothing to write home about - quite pebbly and the sea is so warm it’s like being in the bath. I had a massage in the spa which was really nice, it’s lovely and cool in there and the masseuse I had was friendly. It was my birthday while we were there and we got two bottles of prosecco for free in the room, and for an additional charge a cake was provided. A few cons worth mentioning: the AC really struggles in the main restaurant, and in the lobby where you can sit in the evening. I ended up bringing a handheld fan with me every evening because I was sweating so much. There is also absolutely nothing around the hotel, except the other two TUI hotels. If you’re the kind of person who likes going off and exploring, this won’t be the place for you. The drinks are a bit watered down, but still taste nice (and to be honest this did stop things getting too rowdy early on), and there were a lot of drinks, cocktails especially, that were not included in the all inclusive package (so it’s not all inclusive then). Finally, as a group of 13 we needed to shift furniture together in the evenings and were told off for it quite aggressively by one of the waiters, which felt unnecessary and rude. Overall: clean, friendly, great for families with young kids, and a good spot overall, but it's a 3-star experience marketed as 5-star. I personally didn’t mind that because I’ve never been to a 5 star hotel and that’s not necessarily what I’m looking for, but if you do then you’ll be disappointed.

We stayed here from 6th-13th Aug. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left, we felt so valued and welcomed by all the staff, they all couldn’t have been more helpful or kind towards us and our children! Our room was just perfect. We stayed in a junior suite with a private pool and it was everything we’d hoped for and more. I requested a room that has sun on it all day and we were given room number 2001. This really was the icing on the cake, perfect location next to main pool but loads of privacy at the back where our pool was and the private pools are enormous, the pictures definitely don’t do them justice! It was so convenient to flit from our pool to the main pool throughout the day and we could always get sun-beds at the main pool, regardless of what time we turned up! We’ve been to tui blue tarida beach (Ibiza), Ibiza holiday village and punta prima resort in Menorca and this was the best, hands down! So relaxed and no queues or sunbed wars anywhere, which we value the most when we’re away trying to relax and up until now, we have never found in August. Entertainment was great, we loved the quizzes in the evening and the floating boards in the daytime, so funny and all the instructors/entertainment team were fantastic! We are already booking again for a week next August and are going to ask for the same room! We just wish we had the option of a private pool room for more than a week but not a full two weeks, but tui seem unable to offer this. We are also recommending this hotel to everyone we know! We spent a week here and had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and spacious, as were the communal and pool areas. We were able to get a sunbed at any time of the day, and these were spaced out beautifully around the pool. The snack bar by one of the pools served toasties, crepes, ice cream etc. The lunchtime food was very nice, as was the evening meal in the restaurant. There were 2 additional restaurants you could book in the evening and we had a lovely meal in both. The evening entertainment was slightly disappointing at times, although on our last evening the Musicals show was very good. Would we return - yes absolutely. If you get a chance to go to Afytos then do - the hotel can arrange a taxi for you and it is absolutely beautiful.

It’s a good 4 star quality but we won’t be back. Overall the hotel is clean and tidy with comfy beds and nice staff. Pools are lovely and clean and excellent water slides for kids. The buffets have tasty hot food with no flies. It’s a small hotel so dinner and lunch choice is not expansive but a decent selection. No queues really. Towels - you get given a towel card it’s one towel each and you have to give the towels back before you leave. The towel hut is not even at the main pool. Bits missing which would make it clearly a five star hotel- No welcome drink,snack or greeting by hotel No food in the room fridge at all, just two bottles of water that were never replaced. Bit disappointing. No hot chocolate just tea and coffee. Toiletries were never replaced. Breakfast cereal choice for adults is abysmal-cocopops and cornflakes this is junk food Where are the museli style cereals? No smoked salmon at breakfast No omelettes that you choose the ingredients at breakfast No separate shampoo and conditioner. Water/all drinks are self serve at meal times. You need to hunt for spoons. No sewing kit in bathroom I can’t find any toilets anywhere near the pools? I ve been here five days and still going back to my room to use the bathroom?? Lifeguards don’t have a real ice pack if you hurt yourself -they use ice in a glove? This will cause an ice burn. There is no food hut by the main large pool it’s by the smaller plaza pool and so it the towel hut why when the majority of the hotel guests are at the big pool. Another point is that the black grip tracks need to extended by the kids pool area. I have sat opposite this spot daily and watched multiple kids fall over and cut their knees or hurt themselves after the black tracks end, this is the exit to get to the water slides from the kids pool. Why is this hotel still using real glass to serve drinks around the kids around the pool area???? The beach is fairly disappointing it’s grey with pebbles. No one really used the beach when we were there in August. We were told we were “upgraded” til we found it out where we were. Family Rooms 6001-6010 are opposite the main bar so unless you want to hear endlessly screeched karaoke til 11pm then stay in a different room number. Kinderdisco was decent. The young crew who run it are lovely.

Jacuzzi room 1106 Two weeks all inclusive Transfer - easy to find, air conditioned coach. Check in - welcoming, easy, quick. Room wasn't quite ready so went for lunch first. Room - massive balcony with sun loungers, table and chairs and jacuzzi. Comfy beds, plenty of storage, always clean, bath and two showers, kettle and drinks stuff, fridge, safe, toiletries. Quiet. Food - plentiful, varied, hot, delicious. So many many options. A la carte options fantastic. Drinks - i tried all the cocktails, had my favourites and the ones I wouldn't try again. House wines lovely, beer nice. Quick bar service and also staff taking orders from your seats/sun loungers. Beach - perfect! We rented a pedal boat with a slide for an hour which was great fun. Fish to be seen. Pools - spent our time by the main pool. Always sun loungers available. Minimal reserving. Great entertainment.
