We have just returned from a 1 week stay at Alexandra Beach Hotel. First impression was not great after being dropped off at the hotel. We arrived late night and were greeted by a male receptionist smoking inside behind the desk, despite all of the ‘no smoking’ signs around reception. We found this unprofessional and off-putting as non-smokers, and were forced to smell strong cigarette smoke with no fresh air as we checked-in. We stayed in one of the newer renovated apartments, which we found was clean and well-equipped. The apartment block is not accessed via the hotel reception area. It consisted of a modern bathroom with shower and hairdryer. A small kitchenette was also available with fridge / freezer, sink, 2 point hob and kettle. It also has basic utensils, however we would have perhaps liked a toaster. We also had large wardrobe, twin beds and dressing table facilities with TV. The room was fitted with air-con, however this wasn’t the best as it was often still very hot inside the room despite being on the lowest setting. It was located directly over one of the beds, which meant that this person woke in the night shivering but the other could not really feel it. We booked as a last minute deal through TUI, and were pleasantly surprised to find we had a balcony which overlooked the football pitch with a sea-view. The room was cleaned daily, with the general rule being change of linen : towels every 3 days. However, they had no issues replacing sooner if required. The room did have an ant infestation. We accidentally left a plate out with some leftover hummus on, and when we returned from being out it was absolutely covered in ants. I understand there isn’t a lot that can be done with the hot weather but just a reminder not to leave any leftovers out! We hired bikes from the Iris Hotel next door. They were a bargain at €15 for 5 days. Kos Town is either a 30 minute walk along the seafront, or 10 minutes on the bikes along safe cycle lanes. Hiring bikes seems to be very popular in Kos and I would highly recommend it. The pool area was clean and tidy, open from 10am - 7pm. We always found there to be lots of available sun loungers (and we stayed during school holidays). The pool area had chilled and relaxed vibes and also had a large shaded grassy area behind which many had moved their sun loungers to. We did not try any hotel food or drinks. We spent a lot of our time at ‘Nelly’s’ beach bar, which is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. They have a chilled vibe and have sun loungers with no minimum spend. The food and drinks were excellent here and it was lovely to swim and snorkel in the sea. There is a supermarket ‘Bam Bams’ directly across from the hotel, which is open late. It is very much corner shop vibes. This is ok for basics like water bottles etc, however I would recommend either walking (15 mins) or cycling (5 mins) to Kritikos Supermarket for anything more. This has a deli counter with meats, cheese and olives etc if you fancy nibbles for the balcony and is reasonably priced. Unfortunately we were unable to have a late check-out due to the hotel being full. The hotel tell you to ask at reception the day prior to your departure as only then can they confirm whether there is space. However, the reception area has luggage storage (€2) and also had clean bathroom and shower facilities available for free use. They let you use your towels from the room so you can enjoy the beaches and pools on your last day and still feel clean on the flight home. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you are after a basic but clean stay. I would stay here again if I found another good deal.
Just returned after spending a week there . The holiday wasn't expensive and first impressions were fine , ok location, ok room , we'd paid extra to upgrade and the room was more than what we needed for a comfortable week. I could cope with the badly designed shower and having to mop up water everytime we used it. What I didn't like was there were no protectors on the bed mattress or pillows , surely this is a basic requirement, I've never been anywhere else where this was the case , the spare pillow had blood on it .....not very hygienic , for this reason I wouldn't stay again.
We spent two weeks there (September, October 2024). The hotel is very well located. Quiet place. Very clean. The service is very polite and helpful. The hotel has two drawbacks. The first drawback is the breakfasts. For two weeks, the very poor menu has not changed. I recommend taking this hotel, but without breakfast. Opposite the hotel there is a supermarket where you can buy fresh local products for breakfast. The second drawback is the lighting. The light bulbs are so weak that reading is out of the question. Once you are there, use the services of the company "Kos adventures". I used their services when ordering a car. The car was delivered to the hotel in half an hour. In addition, we received a large dose of information on where, what to see, and what to visit. Kos Adventures also organizes trips around the island. Speaking of food. Near the hotel (150 m) there is the Mavromatis tavern. Great food, as well as the service - we saved ourselves with breakfast there.
We stayed for a week early October stayed bed and breakfast,we’ve traveled all over on our holidays and I’ve never been to a hotel were the breakfast was absolutely awful, only warm food was supposed to be boiled eggs but even those were cold ,selection for continental was the worst I have ever had.The bar and snack bar were so expensive hardly anyone used it included ourselves we asked the receptionist if she could order a taxi and her reply was take the number and do it yourself taxis are hard to get.Best part was our room which was lovely and the lady who cleaned our room.Sorry but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
Fantastic hotel, wonderful pool area and bar, spotlessly clean, hard working and very friendly staff. 2 mins from the beach, Bam Bams supermarket across the road is excellent. 30 mins walk to Kos Town. 5 mins walk to the best beach bars and restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel for your holiday in Kos.
