Apollon

I personally loved most aspects of this hotel . Peaceful and not overcrowded . Lack of entertainment didn’t bother me one bit as I came for a break away from all of that . I guess this may not suit you if you’re looking for a party holiday . Staff respectful , polite and friendly whilst not overbearing - prefect for me Hotel is modern and spotlessly clean . Don’t think if stated in cleaner hotel . Food - hit and miss with options but had some delicious meals on the Mexican and oriental night . Drinks bog standard . Lady in reception with red hair and other lady with lighter hair were both a pleasure to deal with and very helpful . Location 10/10 for proximity to Kos Town . Bus right outside the cosmopolitan hotel and takes 10 min max and 1.50 euro each way to Kos Harbour . Ask for bus timetable at reception. Otherwise a pleasant 20 minute walk for us . Taxi cost between 8-13 euro . Would come back if choosing Lambi area again and would definitely rerun as a solo traveller in the future

When our hotel unexpectedly closed for the season before the end of our stay, we were moved to the Apollon. We were made very welcome, the room was spotless, the staff friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious and there was a great variety. The hotel has a laid back atmosphere and spending time in the communal areas was very relaxing.

We had a wonderful week at the Apollon mid-October which we had booked via Easyjet holidays. The Good - - Our room was absolutely spotless and extremely comfortable. It was cleaned daily and we had a great sleep every night. - The pool area; again, extremely clean and we never struggled to find sunbeds. - The grounds of the hotel are also spotless and well maintained; lovely flowers, trees etc. - The location for US was perfect; a good 30minute walk into the town; which means you can enjoy the peace if you wish but you're not too far away from the action. For those not a fan of walking there are numerous places that you can hire pushbikes, electric bikes, scooters, rental cars etc. within walking distance of the hotel. There are a few bars and restaurants close to the hotel and there are also a few small shops or a bigger supermarket just down the road. The niggles - - The food was great most of the time; the salads available are beautiful, as are the desserts! If you're looking for a homestyle full English you wont get it here but there were fresh eggs, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast as well as beautiful pastries. The evenings have a theme, though there is no prior notification of what it is; some of the food is not labelled. Therefore, it can be a bit of a guessing game. I would imagine eating here with dietary requirements being a nightmare! - The all inclusive drinks finish at 11pm but the bar remains open but payable, which seems crazy to me! The cocktail selection is poor and through the day only filter coffee is available (coffee machine is available at breakfast). - There is no entertainment at this hotel; no singers etc in the evening just music played at the bar. I'm not sure if this is due to the time of year we visited but it was surreal sat at the bar with every table playing cards amongst themselves. - The pool was freezing; though I am putting this down to the time of year! - If you were to visit here with children I think they would be incredibly bored.. though we enjoyed the peace! - There are only 2 or 3 English channels on the TV, all of them news channels. We don't go away to watch TV but it is nice to have some (positive and not depressing) background noise sometimes. - We had booked a pool view room though as we were on the bottom floor we couldn't really see the pool, though we didn't mind all that much. We had a small area with a table and chairs, however, no clothes hanger to dry wet swimwear which was frustrating! I would recommend the Apollon to those looking for a relaxing break with little disturbance. We would come back here if visiting Kos again.

A no smoking area outside would be an improvement..as non smokers we choked on cigarettes every time we sat outside... A designated smokers are should be signposted

We originally booked the Apollon Windmill hotel via TUI with half board but on arrival were told there’d been an admin error and we’d instead be staying at the Apollon hotel nearby with AI. So this wasn’t the hotel we booked nor the room overlooking the pool which we’d paid for. Nevertheless the hotel was fine, the food was generally good and the staff were nice. Our wedding anniversary (TUI ask if you have any birthdays or anniversaries during the holiday) was acknowledged in a very strange way: a scrunched up hand towel on the bed with three flower heads - a mini bottle of Prosecco would have been more appreciated or just nothing at all rather than that. I’ve given three stars for the following reasons: Our terrace was almost permanently in shade and got a total of 45 minutes sunshine per day. (Room 213). This meant it was impossible to dry towels and swimsuits - bikinis took three days to dry! There was no drying rack provided which meant draping wet swimsuits across chairs which meant they took even longer to dry. However the worst thing about our holiday was the sheer number of heavy smokers at the hotel. These guests smoked everywhere - we couldn’t use our terrace at all as the smokers next door were constantly puffing away and owing to the nature of the layout of the rooms any outside smoke blew immediately into our bedroom if we opened the door. The communal outdoor areas were similarly shrouded in smoke and there were no outdoor areas where this was prohibited. In addition, smokers hung around just outside the doors to the lobby/reception area which obviously meant that these areas were also very unpleasant to spend any time in. I felt very sorry for the poor staff who work there who are constantly breathing in so much secondhand smoke. My advice to the Apollon is to restrict smoking to a much smaller area as is done in other hotels and prohibit smoking on terraces as by doing so affects the enjoyment of non smoking guests.
