Review: My partner and I visited the Atlantica Beach Resort Kos in mid October for one week and have left pleased with our experience at the hotel, especially when you factor in the price we paid which was significantly lower than what we usually pay (thanks to an upcoming wedding to pay/plan for!) when we go away together. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the friendly reception staff, promptly presented with a pink lemonade each and taken to our room. The reception staff were very accommodating and thorough in their explanation of where the facilities were within the hotel without causing unnecessary delays for other guests waiting to be checked-in. The reception area is immaculate and smells amazing. I’d love to know where they get their diffusers/air-fresheners from?! We elected for a sea-view room when we booked with TUI, which we were given. The room was certainly interesting; it was more cottage-like accommodation with two separate rooms and we were given the upstairs floor. The room itself was okay. Nothing overly fancy but clean and comfortable. We also slept well during our stay. My only possible improvements here would be the bathroom which we found to be a little small and in need of a slight upgrade (mainly the bath/shower area) and the fact the room was two single beds pushed together rather than just a double - yet we do find this to be the case in most hotels, so it wasn’t too surprising. However, neither caused us any issues during our stay. The general facilities were good - good quality body wash, for example, and a robe and slippers provided but I do think better hairdryers could be sourced. Perhaps it may be an idea to bring your own if you are able to do so. The mini-fridge also only had water, not an issue but I do prefer to have the option of a soft drink to have without having to head out to the bar. My partner had recently returned from a trip to Köln and therefore we both felt it necessary to simply lounge by the pool and not move from our sun-beds for the entirety of the week. We were able to do this with ease as there were plenty of sun-beds with a bar not too far away from the main pool where we spent our time. It also wasn’t too far from the snack-bar which we made use of in an afternoon to indulge in chicken nuggets, burgers and chips. The drinks on offer were of good quality and we particularly enjoyed a sex on the beach cocktail. However, when we wanted a soft drink, we were also able to do this thanks to the self-serve pumps. There was a good atmosphere around the main pool with music and the entertainment team interacting with guests. I particularly enjoyed the fact we were able to participate in some activities from the comfort of our lounger, rather than being hassled to play football, darts etc. but this is also an option if this is for you. The prize of a free drink at the bar and access to the all-you-can-eat-buffet did make us giggle. We always found something to eat at breakfast and dinner, even as fussy eaters. There is also a children’s section where they serve items like chicken nuggets, fish fingers etc. which I thought to be a good idea. My only suggestions here would be that the hotel invests in facilities to help keep the food warmer for longer. I don’t recall eating hot food during my stay, rather quite tepid food. Our first few nights were fairly quiet but this quickly changed when a cruise ship arrived. They were kept away from regular guests during the day but sat with us during dinner service which quickly led to the dining area getting extremely busy with queues when arriving and at the buffet. Unfortunately, the hotel cannot teach basic etiquette but due to how busy it was in the restaurant, it often became quite frustrating when some guests stood in the way chatting etc. or barged into the queue when you had been waiting to access the restaurant. Perhaps the hotel’s management can perhaps establish a system, like they have during the day, to better manage the high-traffic of guests at dinner. Finally with regards to food, we booked in one of the a-la-carte restaurants, the Italian, during our stay. I found it a little strange that the selection on offer was buffet food rather than a sit-down and order type arrangement. I would have preferred this and I believe the other restaurants operate in this way so just a little odd? Regardless, it was decent enough with the usual staples such as pizza and pasta available. Nothing to write home about though. Thankfully, we largely enjoyed a warm and sunny week during our stay but I did enjoy a full body massage during a particularly dull day. The spa staff were polite, knowledgeable and open-minded when discussing treatments and the lady who delivered my massage was both excellent and incredibly effective, regularly ensuring the pressure was to my liking and that I was comfortable. I still feel the benefits now. Aside from the spa however, I do feel there may be a lack of activities the hotel can offer when the weather perhaps isn’t so kind as there isn’t much to do inside, thankfully I don’t think this is often much of an issue for the island! We must give some individual thanks to close our review. A big thank you to Lyle in the entertainment team. He helped make our holiday with his friendliness and we enjoyed our many conversations around the pool. He spent a lot of time engaging and getting to know guests rather than just surface-level chat. It was lovely of him to go out of the way to come and see us before we left too. We hope to see him when he gets to visit his dream destination… Salford! (no, I’m not joking!) Sami at the night-time bar constantly provided us with excellent drinks with a smile and good conversation. And finally, a huge well done must go to everybody involved, namely the lifeguard(s), when a young girl took unwell around the pool resulting in CPR having to take place and an ambulance called. Dealt with calmly and professionally ensuring there was no unnecessary panic or crowding, as somebody who works in the healthcare industry, I was very impressed with the nature with which they handled such a traumatic incident. I wish the young girl and her family all the best and once again, well done to everybody involved who ensured the girl was swiftly supported. Our experience was an overall positive one and we would certainly encourage anybody interested in booking here to strongly consider doing so. We have been to far more expensive hotels who promise plenty but would certainly come back here with our friends over those.
Definitely not a 5 star hotel. First the room, supposed to be a double but 2 single beds pushed together, separate duvets etc. the third bed was the sofa with a sheet on it, ok for our 9yo but anyone else would struggle. So dated, holes in the curtains, balcony a mess. Maid service was fantastic though and they tried their best with what they had. Food was again ok, the Italian was horrible but the Greek and Pagea are well worth a visit. The pool was Baltic and deep, none are heated and with it being so deep it never got warm even though the weather was lovely all week. Sami at the lobby bar was so lovely and cleared a queue quickly, never anywhere to sit inside as not enough seating for the amount of guests. Children’s entertainers were amazing but the entertainment after was not great at all. Felt like a basic hotel all around really. The grounds are lovely though and the location good but you need a taxi to the local town. Overall a chilled out week but not worth the money. 46 guests came to this hotel for my daughters wedding. The room they gave her was shocking. They put her in the older part of the hotel and a lot of the guests over the newer part who had luxury two bedroomed apartments. Half of the guests came down with a sickness bug including one of the bridesmaids and the best man. The food in the restaurant wasn’t the best. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel. It should be down graded to a 4 star. She paid £80 for a sweet cart and got 3 small bowls of sweets on the table. The beach area wasn’t private as there were lots of by standers watching and wolf whistling as she was walking down the aisle. The lady who read out the vows was scruffy and didn’t make an effort to dress accordingly. It wasn’t worth the money my daughter and her now husband had to pay. They had to stay in separate rooms as they have four children and they wouldn’t even give them the honeymoon seeet on the wedding night.
Good point. The hotel is well looked after and is very clean. I would 100 % go to the residence part of the hotel for breakfast as the service is good. Bad point. The food is shocking at best, service is poor. My second day I got food poising and suffered for 4 days with sickness, 5th day had our treat at the Italian , wow is all I can say!!!!!!!!!! it was shocking. I am so very disappointed with the experience but the food isn’t of a 4 star hotel, it is bland and if you don’t like salt please do go. This has left a bitter taste in my mouth ( from the salt)for me and my partner. 100% bed and breakfast next year for a second holiday. Overall a good 3 star hotel due to the grounds.
The look of the hotel is 5 star I agree, but the staff are so so rude! One morning I asked the chief in the breakfast bar for some butter as there was none out and she said no I don’t have butter??? What no butter in a 5 star hotel she never even attempted to get any for my child. They have no entertainment in the day for the children, or at night apart from a half an hour dance. The staff were not pleasant with the children at all, it should be an adults only hotel. The fridge never got topped up with drinks. You have to que for ages to get in at tea time for the all inclusive. If you made a complaint about anything in the room it would not get listened to, room had ants and refused to get moved as apparently alls we wanted was an upgrade. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody, it is only 5 start because of the look of the hotel. Like I say the staff are rude. When going for breakfast they say they will come and take your drink order but they never got round to taking it as they were never there. It was just shocking and if you asked for a drink they would tell you to sit down and wait.
