This is a review of our recent stay between the 5th-12th of October 2026, booked through Jet2 Holidays. First impressions - You can't help but be impressed by this building on approach. It is by far the largest hotel in the area and an imposing structure situated towards the top of a hill. The reception area is huge with marbled floors and columns. We arrived in what was the early hours of the Tuesday morning after a long trip. After check-in, we were given our key and told where to go for our room. The room - Our room was located on the 2nd floor, a bit disappointing as we had requested a higher floor. However, the sea view we asked for was very good with views across the Aegean Sea towards Turkey. We later found out the down side of this was that we had no sun on our room all day. Unfortunately , within minutes of entering our room , the problems became all too clear. The first thing we noticed was a large , ugly stain on the carpeted floor. The carpet itself was obviously old. The pattern was worn off in places through so much use, it was wrinkled and generally in poor condition. The next problem we encountered was an issue with the balcony door. The lock would not work correctly and we actually found the door was unlocked when we went outside to have a look at the view. When we came back inside , we were unable to lock the door after several attempts , but eventually it worked. The next thing we did was have a look at the bathroom. It was as described with a bath and shower attachment above, although the bath was somewhat small. The tile grouting and sealing around the bath and floor were dirty in places. Sufficient towels were provided, but strangely only one bath robe between two of us. By this time, all we wanted to do was get to bed and get some rest after our journey. So we unpacked our valuables and went to put them into the safe. There were no instructions on how to program it. We couldn't figure it out so we called reception , they told us that there was no one available to help us at that time of night as it was a complicated procedure , and we would have to call back in the morning. A staff member came to our room in the morning with a key to allow us to enter our own code for the safe. This was sorted efficiently. So before we got our heads down for the night we went to use the toilet. We could not get in as the door had locked itself behind us after we had already been in there. Another call to reception. We were told to go down to reception where they gave us a small wire "lockpick". We were told to put this wire into a pre-drilled hole in the outside door handle to free the lock mechanism. Fortunately this issue only repeated a few times after that over the next couple of days, however this was obviously a known issue and unbelievably it had not been sorted out already. Finally, we turned the light off to get some sleep, only to find the smoke alarm was directly above our heads and had a flashing light every few seconds which would have served well in a lighthouse it was so bright. I appreciate it's a safety feature but it could have been located a bit better. The following morning I put the TV on just to see what channels were available. There was one music channel and no means to tune into anything else. The Hotel - Overall, the internal areas of the hotel were very nice and clean. There are three lifts, and stairs of course, to go between floors. Plenty of comfortable seating areas throughout. There is also a small games area with pool tables, air hockey etc, and a souvenir shop. The pool area was satisfactory, it did not seem to get cleaned while we were there. The sun beds were well used and as a result they tended to sag and you would feel the cross members digging into your back. Parasols were in short supply, but as there were not many guests at the time this wasn't an issue. Bali beds were available to hire at an additional cost. The pools were very cold! Food - There are three places to eat within the hotel. The main restaurant, an A La Carte restaurant and a snack bar serving tasty gyros, souvlakis, chips and sandwiches. The main restaurant had a fairly good choice of foods although this seemed to be quite repetitive during the week, especially as guest numbers lowered. We noticed some breakfast dishes were being served under a different guise at lunchtimes, and the further the week went on, the smaller the food choices got. One big disappointment was the A La Carte restaurant. Our package included three visits to this, but three days in when we went to book it we were told it had closed for the season. In fact, it was shortly after this we found out the hotel was closing the day after our departure. At the time of booking dates were available for at least another two weeks after our visit. Drink - There is one bar on the ground floor, however this was closed during the day and drinks were only available at the pool bar, unless the weather was bad during which time the inside bar would open. There is also a bar on the top floor which we were aware would be closed at the time of our visit. We did use the lift to go up to it and it was obviously being prepared for refurbishment. Self service soft drinks, wine and beer were available at the main restaurant whilst open, along with tea and coffee etc. Frustratingly they ran out of the classic breakfast tea bags and we were told they would not be replenished. There is also a small bar on the beach for soft drinks. The Beach - Stoney, beach shoes essential in and out of the water! Next to the beach bar are sunbeds and dome shaped shelters for hotel guests only. Again the sunbeds were very worn and the shelters in desperate need of attention. The sea was pleasant to swim in, and warmer than the hotel pools! Service - All staff we met were always polite and helpful. The room was made up every day and towels/water in fridge replaced when required. Reception allowed us to stay in our room for the entirety of our last day, rather than the usual 11am leaving time. Our thoughts - It was painfully obvious that the hotel was winding down for closure during our stay. The rooms (at least the ones we saw) are in need of refurbishment and modernisation. Closing amenities whilst there are still paying guests isn't what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel, albeit a very tired one, and to be honest we found this to be a disappointing holiday.

We were scheduled to stay at the Kipriotis Hypocrites Hotel, which we had booked in February 26, but three day before travelling we were informed that that booking could not be honoured we were to be transferred to the Panorama, which was rated as 5* as opposed to the 4* we had booked, furthermore we were informed that we would be upgraded to a Junior Suite and afforded the ultra All Inclusive package, which we were elated about and gladly accepted. On arrival We were presently pleased by the appearance of the extensive lobby and reception area, but did comment that it was of a late 70s early 80s design. We were told that we had been further upgraded to an executive Suite on the 3 rd floor. On arrival in our appointed Suite, it was patiently obvious that the decor and fixtures were really dated, but must add were kept nicely clean. The bathroom has been adapted for disabled customers and both my wife and myself found using the toilet difficult due to the configuration of the seat. This room was a large suite but executive in name only. The redeeming factor was the comfyness of the extremely large bed. The cleaners worked extremely hard to make the room as cosy as possible. We had some problems with the room and had to make several journeys to reception to report these as the phone was not working and not repaired during the course of our stay. We personally found the reception staff were very professional and we contend them for their friendliness and approachable demeanor. The food wasn't commensurate expected off 5 star, but there was always something available that was acceptable, but the salads were really good. The staffing in the restaurant was obviously not up to strength to fulfil the needs of the number of guests, and their uniforms need upgrading soonest, or an Iron needs introducing to the laundry department. The drinks served at all bars were beyond reproach as were the bar staff. The pools were excellent and well kept. In summery, we had a lovely week in Kos and we had some lovely evenings in the hotel. But we did feel we needed a better quality of food and chose to eat out on occasions in Town. This hotel needs extensive renovations to climb back to its 5 star billing and the longer time elapses until this happens, the harder it will be too gain popularity.
