Kipriotis Village

Very relaxing experience, based on how I preferred the massage

We stayed at Kipriotis Village Resort after being relocated, without choice, from the sister hotel, Kipriotis Hippocrates Hotel. We had specifically booked the smaller, quieter Hotel and were instead placed in a resort with more than 700 rooms. Despite this we were determined to make the most of a holiday we had worked hard and saved for. Firstly, I want to recognise the staff. Most of them worked incredibly hard, often appearing rushed and overstretched throughout the day. The problem was not the staff themselves, but the lack of them. The pool bar and beach bar frequently had only one member of staff serving, while the evening bar only had two people trying to serve hundreds of guests (and we were there out of season). This resulted in long queues, even for something as simple as a soft drink. The resort itself is tired and in desperate need of refurbishment. Many areas look dated and worn, and it certainly doesn't reflect what many guests may expect from the promotional photographs. We were allocated Room 682, a ground-floor room with a patio door that did not lock. We reported this repeatedly to reception throughout our stay, but it remained unrepaired for the entire holiday. We genuinely did not feel secure. Each night we pushed a chair against the door so that if anyone attempted to enter, the noise would at least alert us. The room itself was also in poor condition. The walls were paper thin and you could hear neighbouring guests using their bathrooms. The beds were uncomfortably hard although when asked for, we received a matress topper. The bathroom grab rail was falling away from the wall, and there was a large gap underneath the door which allowed insects and beetles into the room. The food was another disappointment. I'm not a fussy eater, but I found the choice repetitive and uninspiring. We ended up eating out far more often than we had budgeted for because we struggled to find enough variety. When we did stay at the restaurant there also seemed to be a shortage of cutlery, leaving guests standing with plates of food waiting for utensils before they could eat. One of the few positives is the location. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel with services into Kos Town, and the beach can be accessed straight from the resort. Although the beach is stony, it is convenient to have it on the doorstep. Would I recommend Kipriotis Village Resort? Absolutely not. The hardworking staff deserved better support, but the overall experience was extremley disappointing.

Having read the reviews before coming I was a little sceptical to say the least. But we had the most wonderful week. The room was absolutely perfect, as it was me and my 19 year old son. We had room 652 - which has two adjoining rooms, each large in size and with their own balcony. The kettle blew the electrics and the hairdryer didn’t work. Reported both to reception and were fixed by the time we returned to the room. The room was cleaned and beds made daily. We sat around the Olympic pool - always loads of loungers and space. With the benefit of being near the beach bar and the pool bar. We always found something we wanted to eat at every meal time. Lovely fresh fruit and veg. Small gripe that the Gyros bar was shut during our stay, as that was highlight when we came in previous years. Also I detest plastic cups! If you’re going to make guests drink out of them, at least invest in plastic wine glasses. We were given cards for pool towels, there was no one ever at the station. Luckily we took our own, as was unsure if there was a service. The entertainment was great fun - favourite nights were the Greek Dancing and the interactive quiz. Another small annoyance, was no bar open near the entertainment amphitheater. We hired bikes from across the road for €5 for the day, cycle to therma and Kos town. Used the bus service at the end of the road for €2 (buy ticket from the hut on return journey €1.70) We got a day trip to Bodrum for €30 - we booked in Kos town. Was ok, a bit of a long process getting through customs to get on boat. But lots of fake bargains to be had, if that’s your thing and a nice change of scenery. All in all a good break; and would book again. Go with a positive open mind and avoid the moaners

Hotel is well past its best and shabby in places. Food was good and room was basic. Drinks were a big problem . Pool bar sometimes had 20 queuing at times with 1 bar staff. Main bar had a 2 position bar but again queues of 20 plus on each side and a wait of 20 minutes. Bar Manager stomped around doing nothing instead of helping serve. The hotel info stated several bars and restaurants which was lies. 1 restaurant for breakfast, 1 restaurant for lunch and 1 restaurant for dinner Info should at least say what is actually open. Good point was the entertainment staff who were great. Will not return.
