What a hotel, beautiful inside the rooms and on the beach but the pool is DISGUSTING all over the pool floor is dirt and straw wrappers and when your standing in the pool you can feel the dirt.My daughter found it especially disgusting so she would just float in the pool, also just to let you know it is a saltwater pool which we did know before coming ,didn’t really bother us but may bother others(if you are finding it hard go to the water park pool)(free). The beach is absolutely gorgeous also millions of fish and you can rent free pedalos*we stayed for two weeks and never got bored of the food the desserts were OUTSTANDING they all tasted different unlike some hotels where they just look good.We did the catamaran to Bodrum it was a one in a lifetime experience (recommended) also did 3 island boat tour which was better than Bodrum to be fair.Recommend going to Kos town for the day and maybe a sunset meal/drink in kardemena.Overall a 3.5 star stay!

We have just returned from a pleasant week at Portobello Beach, there are however a number of things that the hotel should improve. It states on their website ‚our adults only indoor pool offers a serene retreat‘. However, there is no indoor pool. When I asked the reception staff, they just said there has never been one, there was no apology whatsoever and it clearly hasn't been taken off the website yet. This actually constitutes false advertising and would entitle us to a partial refund. The food is decent for such a large buffet but the main restaurant is less comfortable than an airport waiting hall. The noise level is insanely high and makes any conversation completely impossible. Whenever any chair is moved, it loudly scrapes the floor, the hotel should urgently put protectors under them. This has been raised in previous reviews, yet nothing has been done. The only thing there is to do for children should it rain, is the arcade room, where every single game costs one or two Euros. Meaning you will have to spend a lot of money. The kids club is a shed on the beach. The people who worked there were very nice and extremely patient. Every day a program of the days` activities is published. Most days the kids activity was T shirt painting. What they don't tell you, until you get there and your child is excited to start their t shirt is, that it costs 20 Euros per T shirt. I have four children, thats 80 Euros for a kids activity in a place where we have already paid for ‚all inclusive‘. The animation staff also walks around with other T-shirts trying to sell them to the children, again 15 Euros a pop. The much anticipated airbrush tattoos for kids, also 5 Euros per child. I strongly feel that prices should be clearly advertised and not only communicated once the children are already excited about them. The service staff in the restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful. Something that could not be said for the reception staff. What they lacked in friendliness they made up for in incompetence. My parents in law booked a cab to the airport at 4am, as my father in law is elderly and his English is not great, I went to the reception myself to double check that everything was booked. What the lady failed to tell me was that the clocks went back an hour exactly at 4 am, therefore my parents in law had to wait a whole hour. When I asked the lady in the morning why she hadn't mentioned it to me when I specifically asked her to double check, she didn't apologise but said she told the old man who didn’t listen. Our rooms were cleaned very nicely every day but we also had a very strange experience with the cleaning lady. One morning we slept a bit longer, until 9 am. She let herself into the room unannounced and when she saw that the room was still dark and we were literally still asleep she didn’t just leave. She said good morning and asked if I wanted to the room cleaned. I obviously said ’No we are still asleep’ to which she replied ’tomorrow’? She then still didn't leave but went to put water bottles in the fridge. When I told reception about it, again no apology but a note was taken. It’s very surprising that all the service staff were so nice but the reception staff were so rude. Many other guests said the same thing. We had a nice week, as the beach was nice and the water park was fun but we certainly wouldn’t rush back to this hotel.

A Perfect Family Escape From the moment we arrived at Portobello Beach, we were incredibly impressed. The staff were so friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome right away. We arrived late at night, and it was such a thoughtful touch to find bread rolls, apples, and water waiting in our fridge—just what we needed after a long journey. Our room was spacious, spotless, and ideal for our family of four, complete with a lovely terrace. After the first night, we chose to upgrade to a swim-up room—and it was absolutely worth it! Our children (ages 11 and 8) adored every second in the pool, and it added a whole new layer of fun to our stay. We also enjoyed the main pool area, and the pool bar was super handy for quick drink top-ups throughout the day. We dined exclusively at the main buffet restaurant and loved every meal. There was so much variety, and everything was delicious. Our youngest daughter can be quite a fussy eater, but she was happily catered for with pizzas, burgers, chips, pasta, and mouthwatering desserts. The rest of us enjoyed every breakfast, lunch, and dinner—and the desserts were a particular highlight! The restaurant was always clean, welcoming, and well-organized. The staff at Portobello were consistently lovely and helpful throughout our stay, and the hotel’s location is perfect, with its own private beach just steps away. Evenings were a treat thanks to the entertainment program. Our youngest loved the mini discos, and our eldest joined in too. The grown-ups had just as much fun with acrobats, karaoke, salsa dancing, and more—it was a brilliant way to end each day. The on-site shop was super convenient for picking up water floats, snacks, drinks, and gifts. It had everything we needed to keep the fun going. It truly was the perfect holiday for our family, and we can’t wait to come back again
