We had an amazing 5 days at this hotel. The staff were very good and the food was fresh and plentiful. It is a family resort so can get very noisy by the pool area, but the upgraded pool areas were much quieter and relaxing. Beach a few minutes away, very clear water but pebble beach so be prepared. Good local bus links to Rhodes and Lindos too. We were three sisters travelling and sharing a room. We enjoyed it and particularly enjoyed the food and the quieter pool areas. Staff work very hard and any issues we had got resolved swiftly by the management, which we appreciated and made our trip a truly memorable one.
Our stay was amazing.we would love to come back here

Fantastic holiday, thank you Debbie for the food at Meraki Food Truck especially the Gyros, Yummy Yummy!!
# Atlantica Holiday Village Rhodes – Our Experience We recently stayed at **Atlantica Holiday Village Rhodes for 10 nights**, including the Deluxe package, and unfortunately came away feeling very underwhelmed. Having stayed at a number of 5-star resorts, we feel the overall experience here fell well short of what we would expect from a hotel advertised as 5-star. There are certainly some positives, but there were simply too many areas where the service, facilities, food and attention to detail didn't feel 5-star to us. ## Arrival & Departure Our arrival was disappointing overall. There was a large queue at reception and we had to wait a considerable amount of time to check in, which isn't the welcome you want after travelling. We were offered a welcome drink, which was a nice touch, although we would expect something like this as standard at a 5-star resort. One positive was that we were taken to our room by buggy, which was appreciated, particularly with our luggage after travelling. Unfortunately, the reception area itself felt quite dated and didn't give the impression of arriving at a premium 5-star property. The departure experience was also disappointing. Nobody contacted us to arrange collection of our luggage or let us know how this would be handled. As a result, when it was time to leave, we had to take our luggage ourselves and drag it all the way back to reception. This isn't something we've experienced at other 5-star resorts, where you would generally expect assistance with luggage and a more organised departure process. On the day we checked out, there was also a significant argument at reception involving another guest who was extremely unhappy and was shouting about the condition of her room when she had arrived. Obviously, we can't comment on her particular experience, but after our own experience with housekeeping, it unfortunately didn't come as a complete surprise to us. ## Deluxe Package & Facilities We booked the Deluxe package, which gave us access to the Cosmopolitan Restaurant and the Deluxe areas. Unfortunately, we found these areas underwhelming. The decor in the Cosmopolitan area felt dated and, in places, quite run down. There was even garden-style furniture being used for some of the indoor seating, and the main area felt dark and gloomy rather than luxurious. Ironically, we actually preferred the Relax area. The pool bar and surrounding environment felt more attractive and relaxing and, in our opinion, gave a much better impression of what a premium area should feel like. We were also very disappointed to find that the **Paaru Japanese Restaurant**, which is advertised as an available restaurant on the resort's website/TUI information, was closed. From the appearance of the restaurant, it looked as though it had been closed for some time. This is particularly disappointing when choosing a resort based on the facilities and dining options advertised. If a restaurant is no longer available, we feel this should be made much clearer when booking. ## Room & Housekeeping One of our biggest disappointments was the standard of housekeeping. When we first arrived at our Deluxe room, the fridge was completely empty. We had to contact reception and ask someone to bring drinks up. This isn't what we expected from a Deluxe package at a 5-star resort. During our 10-night stay, housekeeping was extremely inconsistent. We only had a couple of visits during our stay and, when they did come, it often felt as though the service consisted of making the beds, replacing towels and quickly mopping the floor. The bathroom was another concern. From what we could see during our stay, it didn't appear that the shower or bath was ever properly cleaned, which was particularly disappointing for a 5-star Deluxe room. The lack of service became frustrating enough that, on one occasion, I actually went to reception personally to raise a complaint about the housekeeping and the lack of attention being given to the room. We repeatedly had to contact reception because we had run out of toilet rolls, which is something we simply shouldn't have needed to do. We also had to repeatedly request drinks for the fridge. Towards the end of the holiday, empty cans and bottles had accumulated in the room because they weren't being collected. Eventually, we put them outside the room ourselves because there was simply nowhere else for them to go. On one evening, a fuse also blew near the bedside table. We appreciate that electrical faults can happen in any hotel and the staff did assist with this, so that particular issue isn't something we would hold against the hotel. It was the **general lack of consistent housekeeping, cleanliness and service** that was disappointing. This is honestly something we've never experienced at other 5-star hotels we've stayed in. ## Drinks & Pool Service Another noticeable difference from other 5-star resorts we've stayed at was the lack of poolside service. Nobody came around taking drink orders, collecting empty glasses or clearing empty cans and bottles. We would have expected much more attentiveness around the pool areas. The drinks themselves were also disappointing. As far as we could tell, there were very few recognisable branded drinks available, and the cocktail selection was limited. Some cocktails appeared to be produced using a premixed machine rather than being freshly prepared. Again, these things might be acceptable at a lower-rated all-inclusive resort, but our expectations were higher because this is marketed as a 5-star property and we had also paid for the Deluxe package. ## Food There were some positives with the food, but unfortunately the overall standard was inconsistent. We particularly enjoyed the **Italian restaurant** and were fortunate enough to be able to visit twice because it was our wedding anniversary. We were very grateful for this and it was one of the better dining experiences during our stay. We also had **one or two good evening meals in the Cosmopolitan Restaurant**. However, these were the exception rather than the rule. On the other evenings, we didn't particularly enjoy the food and felt that the quality was poor for what we would expect from a Deluxe restaurant at a 5-star resort. The menu was also quite limited, and having **tomato soup as the only starter option every day** felt particularly disappointing. We expected considerably more variety from a restaurant associated with the Deluxe package. The main buffet was also disappointing. It often felt chaotic and busy rather than somewhere you could sit down and enjoy a relaxing meal. The environment wasn't particularly pleasant and didn't feel like the sort of dining experience we'd associate with a 5-star resort. The food options on many evenings felt limited and, on several occasions, we struggled to find anything we actually wanted to eat. There were times when we left the restaurant still hungry and ended up buying snacks from the shop on site. Breakfast was also disappointing. There wasn't what we would consider proper bacon available, instead there was a substitute, and the sausages were poor quality. There were some highlights — the yoghurt and fresh honey were particularly nice. We also had an uncomfortable experience in the Deluxe breakfast area when requesting poached eggs. On several mornings, the female chef appeared visibly unhappy about preparing them, and on one occasion we overheard a comment along the lines of **"I'm not doing anymore!"** Whether that comment was directed at us or not, it certainly didn't create a particularly welcoming experience. ## Evening Entertainment & Atmosphere The evening entertainment wasn't really to our taste and became repetitive during our stay. That said, our son enjoyed it, and I can see it being more appealing to families with younger children. What we did find disappointing was the lack of alternative places to relax in the evening. The Spirit Bar, for example, had very little atmosphere. There was no music and it felt like a missed opportunity. It would be so easy to transform that space with someone playing piano, live music or simply creating more of a relaxed evening atmosphere. There are plenty of opportunities here that, in our opinion, haven't been taken. For example, the closed Japanese restaurant could potentially have been transformed into an evening lounge or dedicated Deluxe space rather than leaving a large facility sitting unused. ## Waterpark & Family Facilities The waterpark was another genuine highlight for us. We really enjoyed spending time there with our son and it was a great family facility. He particularly enjoyed it, and it provided some of the more enjoyable moments of our holiday. One area we absolutely cannot fault is the **kids' club**. The staff were fantastic with our son. He loved going there and they were friendly, caring and engaging. This was definitely one of the highlights of the holiday. The wider activities, however, were a little disappointing. There seemed to be a strong focus on football and swimming, but we would have liked to see a much broader range of activities. For example, there was no regular yoga, meditation or archery, which are activities we've experienced at other 5-star resorts and would have enjoyed. We feel the activity programme could be much more varied. ## Amusement Area The amusement area was another disappointment. A number of the machines were either faulty or not working properly, and on several occasions tokens were taken without the machines actually working. This should really be checked and maintained more regularly. ## The Staff The biggest positive throughout our stay was undoubtedly the **Filipino staff**. They were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming and genuinely couldn't do enough for you. Their attitude and customer service were a real highlight of our stay. We also really enjoyed seeing **Debbie on the truck**, which was another nice part of the experience. The staff who were working hard to look after guests deserve recognition because, despite the issues elsewhere, there were individuals who went above and beyond. ## The Grounds The grounds around the hotel village were generally a positive. There are some lovely areas and, for the most part, they appeared well maintained. The resort has plenty of space and there is clearly a lot of potential. This is one of the reasons it's frustrating because the foundations are there for what could be a really good resort. ## Overall Ultimately, there are a lot of **missed opportunities at Atlantica Holiday Village Rhodes**. The grounds are generally attractive, the waterpark was enjoyable, the kids' club was excellent, we had some enjoyable meals and some of the staff were fantastic. However, when you advertise and sell a resort as **5-star**, particularly when guests are paying for a **Deluxe package**, the expectation is that the entire experience should feel premium — from arrival and housekeeping through to dining, drinks, facilities, entertainment and general service. For us, it simply didn't. What is particularly disappointing is that, having read through some of the previous reviews, we noticed that **many of the issues we experienced have also been mentioned by other guests**. That suggests these aren't necessarily isolated problems from our particular stay, but areas that the hotel has received feedback about before. We've stayed at a number of 5-star resorts, including nearby **TUI Sensatori**, and unfortunately the difference in overall experience was significant for us. What makes this particularly frustrating is that **we paid a similar price for this holiday to what we would have paid to stay at Sensatori**. Knowing that now, we genuinely regret choosing Atlantica Holiday Village instead. We assumed that another resort advertised as 5-star, at a comparable price point, would provide a similar level of overall experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for us. For us, Atlantica Holiday Village felt closer to a **4-star experience than the 5-star standard we were expecting**. There is clearly potential here. The grounds are good, there are plenty of facilities and many of the staff have the right attitude. But there are too many areas where we feel **investment, maintenance, variety, service and attention to detail are needed**. The Filipino team in particular deserve a huge thank you for making us feel welcome — they were one of the consistently excellent parts of our stay. Unfortunately, though, the overall experience left us disappointed. # For Future Guests If you are considering this resort because you are specifically looking for a **5-star experience**, I would personally look elsewhere. I promise you, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a family holiday with a good waterpark, a great kids' club and some genuinely lovely staff, there are positives here. But if your priority is the **overall level of service, food, cleanliness, facilities and attention to detail that you would normally associate with a 5-star resort**, our experience was that Atlantica Holiday Village didn't meet that standard. We certainly won't be returning. Given that we paid a comparable price, **we regret not choosing Sensatori and will be returning there for our next holiday instead**.
