Avra Beach

This was our first time at the Avra Beach and it’s very likely we would choose it again based on several factors. Firstly the beachfront location with free sun beds and parasols (take jelly shoes as it is pebbly). Secondly the proximity to Rhodes Town. Thirdly the price and all inclusive basis, which, at the start of the season, was cheap enough for us to eat out if the food was not that good. This was not the case, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at all meals. As it was early in the season the pool was cold, but very clean, and the poolside bar and snack bar were very handy, (though more bar staff would have reduced the queue), as was the Greek/Italian cafe. The entertainment was a bit hit and miss with the same activities at the same time everyday and there were days when nothing happened at all round the pool as animation team were all off. Our room was a refurbished room in the block nearest the road, so some traffic noise, but also had a side sea view which we weren’t expecting, having booked a ‘garden view’. We paid approx 50 € for a late checkout as our taxi wasn’t till 8pm and we were allowed to use all the facilities and the all inclusive until we left.

We stayed here for a family holiday. My son, who is 6 my wife and I arrived very early in the morning. We quickly checked in and tucked into some sandwiches. We stayed in a ground floor superior family room with garden view. The room was spacious and clean. Throughout are week long stay we had a couple of issues. One was the air conditioning stopped working but after we reported it, a maintenance man quickly fixed the problem. The other issue was there was a gap underneath the shower door so we flooded the floor. I recommend adding a trim to prevent this. We just used a floor mat. Other than that the accommodation was fine. The food was very good. Something different every day. The snacks throughout the day were also amazing. The giros were spot on. The entertainment crew were all brilliant. “Boogie” was a bundle of energy every day and really brought a smile to our faces. Sam was friendly and ran the aqua aerobics really well. Our son spent some time in the kids club with Erina. She was fantastic with him. He brought lots of things they had crafted back to us. We didn’t stay up too late to see all the evening entertainment but what I saw was very good. From live singers and tribute acts to Violinists and bingo. The bar staff were all happy and friendly. My wife and I both had a massage which we both enjoyed. The young lady managed to get some knots out of my back. I have to give a shout out to the lifeguard (Antonio) who watched over the pool like a hawk. He dived in at the slightest sign that a kid was struggling. I never see someone so switched on. Bravo sir. Mary, who sorts out day trips and buses to Rhodes town was a real character. We stopped to have a chat with her every time we when out. All in all we had a wonderful holiday and would consider returning to this hotel.

We have just returned home after a week stay in Avra Beach hotel so let me start off with the positives. 1. The hotel is very beautiful it has a nice private beach with lots of sunbeds. 2. The staff in the all inclusive dining restaurant are very attentive and kind (Dining restaurant specifically, read why specifically) 3. The lady who arranges the excursions was very accommodating and friendly. This is a very nice family hotel however here is what I didn’t like about the hotel: Firstly the entertainment is very hit/miss I found my small children weren’t very impressed with the disco and the entertainment wasn’t good on most of the nights. Then there is the entertainers who I assume are children’s entertainers they walk around with silly wigs on and are very loud which is good for the energy but it can be annoying as most of the adults need to get rest on the beach and sun bathe! I have found the staff extremely attentive however I must say we have had a few bad experiences with staff members, particularly on the snack bar with two ladies who were not very kind or polite to my 9 year old son and then were a little off with my husband on seperate occasion. A few things on the hotel I’d improve is I would add glass railings to the ground floor apartments as they aren’t very safe especially for small children, I would make sure the staff are kind to the guests especially children.

We have just come back from a week’s stay at the Avra Beach Hotel and what an amazing week we have had. Came for son’s 40th so son, son’s fiancée, granddaughter and grandparents and every one of us had the best time! Rooms great, although will suggest slight improvements to help improve room experience later in review! Location great, 20 mins from airport, 10 mins from Rhodes town by bus or taxi, hotel entertainment superb, food excellent, from breakfast, through to lunch and evening meals and everything in between. Pool a little on cold side but exceptionally clean as is the whole hotel in every aspect. Beautiful views and stunning sunsets, I could honestly go on and on about this hotel and would definitely return. Just a mention about the staff in the hotel shop, so lovely and friendly and they sell everything! Couple of improvements about room, clothes hanging space not brilliant, a small full length wardrobe would be better for long dresses, no full length mirror and having to stand at sink to do hair and makeup not ideal. Apart from these couple of negatives we had an amazing stay and would not hesitate to return!

Gorgeous hotel. Great location. Hotel on the beach. Comfy loungers. We had a trip to Lindos (1hr car journey) and to Rhodes Old Town (20 min by bus) Easy car hire in hotel. Lovely food. Great entertainment. All staff are very friendly. They did a pizza making morning for families - 10/10! We loved this! Memories to last forever. Thank you!
