Avra Beach

Certainly not a 4* hotel. Staff generally unfriendly, especially night reception staff and ladies on snack bar during the day. The dining Kymata experience was a total let down with lukewarm food and poor slow service. No fresh juices available, either fizzy drinks, tea, or water. This is unheard of in 4* resorts. Beach nice, sunbeds excellent. Food underwhelming, a bit like school canteen food with the same things again and again. Bathrooms in room and throughout resort dreadful. Frosted glass making for no privacy. As I was travelling with a friend this made for an awkward experience. Locks in public bathrooms broken - only found two in the public toilets which worked throughout entire stay. Excursion provision in hotel lobby excellent and well priced for Lindos and Rhodes Town. Would not stay again as there are better and cheaper resorts out there.

We visited for a week in August as a family of 4. Although we had booked the standard family room I found it to be very clean and spacious with everything we needed for our stay. I emailed the hotel before arriving and Helena arranged for the room to be decorated for our Anniversary which was a lovely personal touch. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are of good quality and my children are already missing the amazing donuts at the snack bar and the banana ice cream! Location is great and very easy to travel around using the local bus service-top tip the small shop adjoining the hotel sells bus tickets €7 for 2 adults and 2 children so very affordable and the bus runs into Rhodes Old town every 15 mins during the week.

Lovely resort for family's with children. Great pool and with it's onsite beach, it makes holidaying in "this heat" bearable... no need for packing bags and then having to walk or taxi miles to a beach, it's literally and physically, a stone's throw! All inclusive offers good value as the food in the buffet is fresh and well cooked with good variety... One improvement I'd say would be to offer beef options and maybe more grill options for meat... Grilled vegetables are lovely! Only slight complaint would be the beer offering on the all inclusive... its easy and quick to be served at any time in the day but the product is probably in the 1.5-3% vol region at most, so if you're expecting to have a solid beer on your holiday, visit the local shops for some good value "proper beer" or get down to FBI which is around a 8min walk left as you leave the hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious for our family of 4 (2 kids - 7 & 13). Amazing shower and the world's most powerful flush in the toilet, so if you go big on protein in the buffet, fear not, everything will be flushed away with power and precision! BOOM! Tip: Definitely use the hotel reception bus transfer to old/new town which offers great value £7 Euro return for adults... get yourself down to FBI bar if you like beer and sport and as everyone says, take beach shoes for the stony walk to the surf... also take power pegs to secure your towels on the balcony; you can buy all of this from the site shop anyways if you struggle for packing room. Tip 2: be careful walking around the pool, it gets very slippy and you'll see plenty of people with crutches and knee supports who have not taken this seriously. Wear shoes when walking I'd say. If you like sun, good food, a family friendly atmosphere, bingo and a warm sea, get involved! Superbio!

Overall, we had a great stay, and the animation team truly stole the show—great crew but especially Timmy. Whether you're an adult or a child, he connects brilliantly with everyone. He is exceptionally friendly, helpful, and a great guy; management should definitely make sure to look after him! ​Most of the team across the resort provided wonderful service. Kris (not sure of the exact spelling) was lovely, the waiters clearing glasses were hardworking and cheerful, and the two older female bar staff were absolute stars—knowledgeable, efficient, and welcoming. On the downside, one of the male bartenders could certainly work on his manners, as he came across quite rude. The salon was also fabulous and well worth a visit. ​As a vegetarian, I was very pleased with the dining options—there was always plenty to eat and snack on. ​Our only major disappointment was the blonde receptionist. We found her impolite and unhelpful on several occasions, notably attempting to quote us €69 for a taxi into Rhodes Town when the standard rate is around €15. Aside from that, it was a very enjoyable holiday. Tip for future guests: learning a few basic Greek words like "please" and "thank you" goes a long way and shows respect to the hardworking staff.)

Avra Beach is a very unique place, it’s really difficult to sum up in words because it’s like a safe sanctuary, a repeat visit for us but it almost becomes more special each time. The hotel is beautiful, the staff work so so hard keeping it immaculately clean and the rooms are so comfortable. The reception staff are brilliant and the lovely Helena who looks after PR cares so much and really wants to ensure all guests have a great time. There is the addition this year of the new à la carte restaurant which is a lovely idea, a great view of the sunset and right in the beach, ideal for a memorable night. In terms of the main restaurant don’t miss Asian fusion night the sushi is brilliant (veggie option too). If you can get down to breakfast early, it’s so peaceful right by the seafront and the gorgeous Reina will serve you coffee with a smile. The animation team work hard, Boogie has more energy than the Duracell bunny and make everyone feel welcome. The hotel staff are the ones that keep us coming back, they are all amazing and care so much about the experience you have. Natalie, Kyriakos and Nikos (the man is a legend) during the day. At night the wonderful Anastazia, Michalis (get a passion fruit martini and thank me later) and Spiros (also makes a mean cocktail) with the supporting team of Elton, Alex and so many more. Kostas and Vasillis work so hard to make sure every part of your stay is wonderful, I cannot praise the staff enough. If this sounds like an Oscar’s speech in a way it probably is because deciding to book Avra was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life, it’s such an amazing place.
