We stayed at the hotel from 23 May - 3rd June. From the moment we walked in we knew it was going to be a special holiday. The reception team are always on hand to help either in person or via their what’s app contact number. We really felt taken care and they always wanted to go the extra mile. We were shown to our room and our suitcases were already there before we reached our beautiful ‘Loft / family room’ located on The ground floor of the annexe. This is a great location - it’s in easy access via a walk way near the children’s pool or via the hotel gym. We loved this as our teenage girls enjoyed the freedom of being close by but independent around the complex too. The room was beautifully refurbished. We loved the maisonette layout. They had thought of everything. Fresh towels and cleaned room every day. Fresh water - soft drinks / cans all part of the all - inclusive package. The pool was immaculate, the tiles were being cleaned at all times, the pool team were on had with new fresh towels, the bar staff, gardeners, and entertainment team were awesome. There are sunbeds a plenty around the pool, gardens and beach - although they were very busy during the peak of half term (a few early starts to get a bed around the pool) but this changed completely during the second week when it wasn’t school holidays - it was very chilled. We loved the buffet, the food selection was fab every day with many fresh options and dishes. The drinks are on tap and at lunch / dinner they have a great selection of wine to choose from and will help you find the one that you like. We waitress’s are all attentive - really couldn’t ask for more. We loved getting to know them. The seating area, inside and out is beautiful. We also pre- booked our à la carte restaurants too. The Italian and Greek meals were so so good! You can pre-book these on the Grecotel app. ( we didn’t book the Asian one as my daughters aren’t keen but it looked so good). And the adult only restaurant - kids need to be 12 and over. On the app - it shows all the available activities each day. I did sunrise yoga 3 times with Martina - she was so great for all abilities and it was a lovely experience whilst the sun rises. All the actives are free. We also used the gym most days, a good selection of machines and weights, Pilates studio - it wasn’t ever too busy and the view when working out was lovely. I also booked a massage on the beach directly - you can’t book this via the app. We also hired jet skis which were so fun! We had way too many crepes and ice creams from the beach bar every day. They just tasted too good! The beach bar is a great addition, chilled vibes in the day and good place to hang out in the evening. If you can, definitely head out early for the sunrise - it’s stunning. We also visited Rhodes old town which was a must, and Lindos ! Both are definitely worth a visit. We left it too late to book a cabana - which we were hoping to do for our last day - so if you want to do something similar, definitely book in advance. You can book these at reception. We had a late check out as we had an evening flight home, we were able to have our room to 1pm and the hotel team collected our suitcases. We then requested a courtesy room for a freshen up/showers before our airport transfers arrived. It was all Seamless. Thank you for an unforgettable holiday. 💙
The good! The pool is stunning! The beach is rocky like a lot on the Greek isles but is a great beach ( take beach shoes) with a fabulous beach bar. No plastic loungers here, beautiful soft loungers. The beach bar has a great ambience. The sunsets are beautiful, We really enjoyed the food always lots to choose from. We loved eating at the beach bar during the day. My sons loved the pancakes and ice cream station. Like some have said in many aspects this hotel feels like a five star! The staff were excellent, couldn’t do enough for us . Well done to the team at Dama Dama. Could be better! The kids activities for 7-12 were limited. My sons loved them all but wanted more. The staff were fantastic but there just wasn’t enough on. They’d have one activity in the morning and one at 4pm. If you are looking for tons of things then you’ll find better. This is no fault of the staff who were excellent. There was football most days but not really a suitable area for the kids to play. One day over 15 kids wanted to play in a tiny area. The sun beds by the pool were being reserved as early as 6am! By the end we were having to get up early to make sure we got a seat. I think the hotel need to crack down on this. We’d go to the beach most days you can always sit there. We enjoyed the entertainment especially the acrobats but would have liked more again. The bad! We couldn’t get booked into any of the restaurants for 7 days! DO NOT BOOK A INLAND ROOM. Our room was by a noisy road overlooking a car park and very basic. We did get moved after 5 days due to hotel being fully booked but just don’t make the same mistake as us booking that room type. On the whole we’d recommend as we think this is mostly five star rated I a 4 staff budget , book a upgraded room
Couples week at the Dama Dama Hotel.
We had a fantastic experience loved the hotel staff food no complaints at will definitely return
I try to be fair if I review anywhere I visit so let’s take things in order Arrival/Accommodation We’d already checked in online so were a bit surprised that it took 15 mins to process us at reception. We paid the usual “holiday tax” and were shown to our room. We had booked a “bungalow”through love holidays and saw the type of room that we had expected to get which looked really nice. On entering the room allocated however, it bore no resemblance to what we thought we were getting. There were 2 of us but for some reason we had a double bed and a single. There was no where to sit apart from the single bed. The sheets on the double bed had holes in them. The bathroom area was extremely small. All in all we felt really disappointed. I should say at this point that unbeknown to me my partner had communicated with hotel customer services leading up to our trip, as it was a landmark birthday for me. The hotel representative (name known but withheld) said that they would do their utmost to make sure we had a fabulous stay. (During the 7 day stay nothing happened which is fine because I’m not high maintenance but perhaps don’t promise anything in the first place) My partner on seeing the room, was extremely upset as she felt I would be disappointed and so she asked if there was anything else available. To the hotels credit we were shown a ground level room which was miles better and more like what is shown on the hotels website. Pool/Garden/Beach What might not be immediately apparent, especially after viewing the managements own photographs, is that there’s only one adult outside pool at the hotel. There’s what they describe as a children’s pool behind the cabanas (more of them in a minute) but the problem is families didn’t go there as there wasn’t any loungers. So to the cabanas. There are 12 cabanas. 6 on each side of the pool, which you can hire for 50 euros a day. Sounds fine, however given that there is limited space round the pool, this effectively means that another 4 rows of loungers could be added if the cabanas weren’t there. This is especially relevant because the scramble of the “6am walking dead” putting towels on beds is something I’ve never seen at a luxury hotel before. It got that bad that guests were receiving warning s on the hotels app. Not great. If you’ve seen the fab picture taken by management looking down the pool towards the sea, from the main building it gives the impression that the pool extends further than it does. The water at the top is knee deep and no one is allowed in it. Only one row of cabanas on the left is seen. There are others on the opposite side. The beach is nice and clean with a variety of different loungers. Plus there is a selection of water sports available. The hotel grounds are well kept with a selection of shady trees to lie under. Restaurants The hotel has a main buffet and a number of bookable à la carte restaurants, at the time of our stay, catering for Traditional Greek, Italian and Asian cuisine. À la carte restaurants were very good but main buffet restaurant could’ve been better. Bit samey every day. Might be an idea to transfer some à la carte ideas over to the main stream diners. Have an Italian night. A Mexican night. An Asian themed buffet night. I’m sure that would go down really well. The traditional Greek Restaurant is situated near the beach and at lunchtime serves Gyros, burgers, hotdogs plus a variety of other foods which can be taken away or eaten on the premises. This is extremely busy about 1pm. I haven’t mentioned but there is no requirement to wear an all inclusive bracelets and so technically if you were brazen enough you could walk in off the beach if not a resident. I’m sure people don’t however 🤷♂️😂 Staff Now this is where the hotel really shines. I’ve been to hotels all over the world. Most of a high standard but never have I been to a place, where the staff have been as brilliant as they are here. Whoever recruits deserves a massive pat on the back because never have I seen hospitality staff to such a high standard. Professional, pleasant, knowledgable and just downright really nice people. In summary then there was lots to like about the Luxme Dama Dama but also things that could be improved
