Rhodos Horizon City

We are currently 6 nights into our 7 nights in this excellent hotel. This hotel is absolutely perfectly located for everything in Rhodes town. A few minutes walk in various directions from everything the town has to offer e.g. the old town, the harbour, beaches, shopping. There are lots of really good welcoming bars and restaurants very close to the hotel, and the central area of the newer part of town is very close where we were spoiled for choice for relaxed evenings dining out and having a really good cocktail or two. The hotel itself is impressive. All the staff were welcoming and warm, they are a credit to this very well ran hotel. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, the rooms are very well appointed and the shower in the en-suite is excellent, really powerful. The air conditioning is extremely easy to control and works flawlessly. The breakfast buffet offer is up there with the best I’ve seen at any hotel I’ve stayed at over the years. A really extensive and good quality selection of just about everything, including the choice of a cooked English style breakfast if that is your thing. Great cooked to order omelettes, and good coffee too. The pool area is small, but this is a city hotel, and we found the pool refreshing for a dip on a couple of hot afternoons. The area is quiet and relaxing with easy access to the bar area a few metres away for drinks/snacks, and you won’t have any trouble getting a sun lounger if you want one. To be fair lying on sunloungers all day whilst having travelled a couple of thousand miles to somewhere as interesting and stunning as Rhodes isn’t really our thing and seems wasteful to us, especially when it is easy to walk to the beach, which offers stunning views and lots of water activities such as para gliding, jet skis etc, or just chilling. This hotel is child free also which is a huge bonus, and contributes massively to its relaxing laid back atmosphere. The food and drink prices in the hotel are comparable to the local area which is unusual, most hotels in our experience tend to be higher priced than establishments outside. My top tip for a visit would be: visit and explore the old town. The historical architecture is beautiful and definitely worth exploring and stopping maybe for a drink or two. However based on our experience, when it comes to dining (having a nice evening meal out), avoid, avoid, avoid, except maybe for a coffee/ snack at midday. The old town is like a ‘Disneyland’ version of Greece, it’s not real any more, just overpriced poor quality restaurants that granted might look great, but with constant hassle to go in every time you walk past. And street after street of tourist tat, and packed with people from the cruise ships flooding in. Venture a couple of minutes outside the Old Town and you can stop and read menus in your own time without hassle, and the food quality and pricing is definitely way better. So, back to the hotel. If you are an couple going on holiday by yourselves or with a few other friends with no kids, based on personal experience of getting to know Rhodes town reasonably well, I can’t think of a better place to stay that the Horizon City. Recommended without any reservations.

Positives - 1. Location is excellent, very convenient to beaches, harbour/port and old town. 2. The hotel is really modern and clean. 3. The rooms were spacious with plenty of storage space. 4. The restaurant menu/ food is fantastic and great value for money and the staff in the restaurant are friendly. The breakfast is adequate although there is plenty of variety. 5. The swimming pool area is relatively small and mostly in shade but well kept Negatives. 1. Our room had a pool view and it was extremely noisy as the extractor fans from the kitchen were on from around 5.30 am to 9.30/10 pm daily. In addition to this, the housekeeping staff were rattling around in the corridor from 6.30 am every morning and we could also hear noise from other rooms. 2. We had requested a double room, but we had 2 single beds pushed together which kept separating and was not compatible with a comfortable night's sleep. 3. The in-room facilities were basic with no iron/ ironing board available even upon request and instead they offer pressing facilities at 4 Euros per item!

I wish I could take this hotel with me every where I travel, this hotel is clean , bright, the staff in every department are wonderful, we cannot fault them , we arrived at 3am in the morning the gentleman on the desk was lovely, he definitely made our welcome special. The ladies who cleaned our room were brilliant we always came back to a lovely clean room with little personal touches added. The ladies & gentlemen in the restaurant & bar again were fabulous nothing was to much trouble, we cannot fault them The hotel it's self was lovely with a great location, food was of a great standard with a good choice for breakfast, you can buy dinner there too which was also lovely with reasonable prices, drinks too. Rooms are of a good standard nice & airy with lots of space, the only thing we would say was the balcony was quite small with a railing that didn't seem that safe as in solid, so we tended to not go to lean on it. Atmosphere was relaxing & chilled This place isn't at all noisy & is an adults only hotel.

Perfect, Staff were friendly and professional, even when we arrived very late . The hotel was spotless, rooms spacious and well maintained. We were on the 5th floor with sea view and it didn’t disappoint! Lovely to watch the boats come and go before heading for breakfast , which was excellent! Location was ideal with everything within walking distance ( mature couple ) and some lovely restaurants and bars close by . Negative comments? Not from me , in fact already rebooked for next August:)

A clean, well-maintained, and cost-effective hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The only things that could use a little improvement are the breakfast and the coffee, which would benefit from a small touch-up.
