Anagenessis Village Hotel

We have just returned from 10 days in Kalamaki, staying at the beautiful setting of the Anagenessis Hotel. We were so lucky to have found this place. The location is approx. 30 min walk to the main road, but we got taxis, using Zante VIP transfers which was 10 Euros each way. The road can be busy but we did speak to people who walked it. There was a lovely little local shop about 5-10 min walk from the hotel which had everything you need to stock up-ask to try the local wine! The location meant the hotel is set in peaceful surroundings with olive tree groves opposite. It really felt peaceful when you arrived back there compared to the busyness of the main resort. We had a family room which was clean, spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. Bins and beds were done daily and we had clean towels every 3 days. The balcony was huge so loads of room to dry off towels and sit and overlook the pool with a glass of wine. The pool area was perfect for us. Plenty of sunbeds and parasols, never too busy, loved the swing beds, a lovely small pool for kids if needed, and the main pool was clean, refreshing and a lovely size. The pool bar and area was well stocked with lovely drinks and cocktails and a menu of delicious lunches which they serve you around the pool or at one of the tables. The hotel offers a Greek night and Italian night and we did both-food Both times was delicious, especially the truffle pizza, and the Greek night dancing was a highlight! The family dancing together and performing for us was really special, and we of course joined in! The breakfast choice was stunning. 80% organic and locally grown, there was a huge selection, from breads, cakes, pastries, condiments, nuts, seeds, candied and dried fruit, fresh fruit, yoghurts, overnight oats, meats, cheeses, traditional Greek breakfast and eggs, sausages, beans. More than enough on offer and delicious! The thing that made this stay extra special was the family behind the hotel. Dinos, Rebecca, Dennis and Costas, and all the extended family and helpers. Thank you. You truly made our stay so memorable and we felt like we didn’t want to leave! Dinos, you were so helpful and knowledgeable, and from day 1 we felt like part of the hotel family. Thank you Anagenessis-we will never forget this holiday!

A long way from main area,which is ok if that's what you prefer. Positives we had a great balcony on ground floor , lovely swimming pool. Breakfast was canny, tinned fruit and yoghurt , toast , meets and cheeses ect. Negative, evening food, set menu only for duration of the stay, everything tastes the same, too much hassle salt. I think its one sauce with some meats, awful. We ate out from day 3 couldn't bring ourselves to try another dish. Sunbeds and parasols nailed down so unable to get any shade. Pool closed 6pm fined if in beyond. Our apartment was so dark, unable to have windows open as no insect screen . Apartment for 4, no storage for more than 2. Everything is old and serverly rusted. Bathroom floods so badly when showering we had to cover the floor with towels or it wet the floor in the hallway ,door frames rotted away with the water from the shower ,rusty door handles and a vanity unit so rusty and dirty making it unusable. Terrible. The fridge had 1 shelf so no room for anything and again was a million years old and rusty. Needless to say we would never stay again and we definitely wouldn't recommend. Still waiting for Jet2 to respond to my complaint, The rep that visited during our stay was shocked at the things I've listed.

Myself, my husband and 2 children (aged 11 and 13) stayed here for 10 nights. The experience was wonderful- helpful, kind and friendly staff, lovely clean apartment and pool. All shared areas spotless! Yummy breakfast and lunches! We all had the best time- thank you! We hope to return!

What can I say amazing! What a homely hotel. It is so peaceful and calm. Deano made our stay so welcoming and was such a joy to be around. The location was perfect so close to the airport and the towns. Rebecca was also so lovely! I can’t wait to go back! Hannah :)

A very special hotel. Loved my stay here. I travelled with my daughter for a girly, chilled, week away. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The level of care and attention was phenomenal. Dennis, Rebecca and Dinos made us so welcome. Our room was in a separate building at the back of the hotel and was large and airy with an enormous balcony and icy air con (EUR 10 per night, but worth it). Floors, toilet and linens were all immaculate. However, I felt the shower could have been cleaned more thoroughly, although the it was quite old and I’m sure this didn’t help with its appearance. I didn’t bother to report this, so can’t say how the complaint would have been dealt with. The hotel in general is quirky and clearly someone artistic has gone to a great deal of effort decorating and styling throughout. The food was beautiful and largely organic. Buffet breakfast has a bit of something for everyone. If you want English style sausage and bacon forget it, but everything is super tasty. Lunches and evening meals were stunning and generous portions. Greek night (including dancing - the staff really do everything!) and Italian night (pizza night) once a week. Location is a bit out of the way, which suited us as we wanted to chill. You could walk into Kalamaki in about 25 mins if it weren’t so hot (tried it once and got a cab the rest of the week)! A small shop is 5 mins walk away and you’re less than 10 mins from Zakynthos Town in a cab. 10-15 mins from the airport, but never got bothered by airplane noise. Honestly one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at the staff and the food make this stay and I can’t wait to go back.
