Atlantica Eleon Grand Resort

We just came back from a 10 day stay at Atlantica Eleon Grand Resort and we had such a lovely experience. The staff went above and beyond to help during our stay. We have never been to a hotel that has such exceptional customer service. The rooms were clean and lovely. The hotel overall was clean and very organised. The hotel caters for everyone and their types of holiday. The hotel had lots of activities by the pool for children We usually prefer a quiet / relaxed holiday and this was still an option by going to the hotels beach area. We found the Atlantica Eleon Grand Resort at Zakynthos to be a very pleasant and good resort. The resort isn’t too big or too crowded. It has all the facilities within easy reach, several swimming pools (with plenty of facilities for children) and is situated on a lovely bay, making it a nice spot for snorkelling as well. The food is varied and of good quality. The staff are very friendly and the service has so far been good – at least, provided that our daughter’s Nintendo Switch games, which were lost and surprisely found, are finally sent by post as Mr Nikoloudakis, the front-office manager, promised us by email.

We have recently returned from a weeks holiday at the Atlantica Eleon Grand. The weather was extremely hot, but the hotel is set up in such a way so that you can find ways to cool off easily. We paid extra to stay in the main building in a Seaview room, with a large double bed and a chair bed for our daughter to sleep in. We would recommend this, as the garden view rooms around the near stage would be very noisy in the evenings until quite late, due to the proximity of the evening entertainment. The room was quite small, but comfortable, although we were able to fit in without getting under each other's feet. We had a little difficulty operating the air-con when we first entered the room, but got it going in a couple of minutes and it was very effective. The patio doors were a little tricky to open at first, but we worked it out and were able to use the patio for sitting and, with its handy drying rail, drying wet towels and swimwear. Unfortunately the room is set up for just two occupants,even though the sofa bed makes it a three-berth room, therefore there were only two chairs outside; which was not ideal. The housekeeping staff were very efficient, and the room was tidied beautifully every day. The bathroom was roomy, with lovely warm water; although the hair dryer was next to useless – it overheated and switched off after about 30 seconds of use, so we would recommend packing your own if you have space. The hotel facilities were perfect for us, excellent pools, and surprisingly exhilarating water slides. It must be said that the lifeguards are more than a little over-enthusiastic in their whistle blowing attempts to prevent any form of jumping or diving into the pools; this, however, didn’t dampen our enjoyment of the water. Access to the beach is great, although we did take water shoes, which we found helpful when walking into the sea. The sunbed situation is typical of all hotels, with fellow guests reserving them before the sun has even risen! We were able to find three together every day that we needed them, though, so there seems to be enough to go around, and nothing is too far away, so there aren’t really any in a bad location. The restaurant has a good range of food, I particularly enjoyed the breakfast selection. Our daughter loved the crepes, and Kara who made them freshly was wonderful, and made a real fuss of her and made her feel really special – so thank you very much Kara, you are a credit to the hotel and the star of breakfast! The opening times of the restaurant suited us very well, and even at the busiest of times we only had to wait for a maximum of five minutes before being seated by the friendly staff. On several occasions there was a barbecue station on the terrace, which was a real treat for some freshly barbecued souvlaki or prawns. We enjoyed two meals at the a la carte restaurants, I actually preferred the Greek restaurant, but this is down to my choosing poorly from the Italian. My wife and daughter loved their meals at both restaurants. The quality of the food was superb, it was just that my meal didn’t suit my taste. The appetisers at both a la carte restaurants were absolutely delightful. If you would like to visit these restaurants, we would recommend getting the hotel app and booking them as soon as you arrive, as space is limited and they do fill up quickly. The biggest criticism of the food did come from our daughter, who was disappointed that there wasn’t any halloumi at any stage of our stay! The bar staff are wonderfully efficient, and the drinks range on the all-inclusive package is wide enough to suit most people – our daughter very much enjoyed the Cinderella and the Superman Punch children’s cocktails. We used the Panorama bar most evenings before dinner for a drink and game of some kind. We were always very well looked after by Ariana, who we would like to thank for her friendliness and superb sense of humour throughout our stay. The hotel gym is not bad at all, although the air-con in there is a little hit and miss, so you could find yourself having a very hot workout indeed. It is possible to run in the local area, but do be aware of aggressive dogs if venturing too far afield! We enjoyed the tremendous work from the entertainments team, who worked solidly all day and evening. The daytime activities, such as aquafit were well run and well attended, and the daily afternoon poolside show was always excellent, whether it be the saxophone soloist, or the B-Brothers Acrobatics show, or the fabulous vocals of Cabby and Leah. We have stayed at quite a few resorts and I think this was one of, if not, the strongest entertainments teams we have seen. Our daughter absolutely loved the nightly mini-disco, and the fact it was run on the stage made it even more exciting for her. We enjoyed a couple of excursions, one boat trip around Turtle Island which was great fun. There are a couple of swimming stops, but we would recommend taking a swimming woggle if you feel it may be needed as there are not many to go around on the boat. We also went to the waterpark, which again was great fun, although we did take issue with their height restrictions as they appeared to measure approximately 5cm too short, which led to disappointment as our daughter was unable to go on some of the faster slides. Outside of the hotel, there is easy access to lots of shops and bars if that is your thing. Overall, we had a lovely time at the hotel and returned home well fed and watered, relaxed and refreshed and with a lovely suntan – but, remember after-bite as mosquitoes are a bit nibbly!

Our stay at this hotel was our 4th holiday to a 4* hotel within the last 12 months. Whilst the hotel rating is a 5*, TUI rating is 4*+. We've had experience at staying at other hotels in Greece where their rating is 5* but TUI/jet 2 rate at 4*. I can say from experience that this is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at. We go abroad multiple times a year to compare this hotel/holiday. For the people who moan about this hotel, I'd love to see what other hotels they are comparing it to because I have struggled to find fault. Food - as a vegetarian I often struggle eating in an all inclusive. The food here was clearly labelled and there was plenty of choice at lunch and evening. There was a different theme every night so I'm not sure how anyone can call the food repetitive? The desserts were some of the best I've had in an AI. My daughter is a fussy eater but always found something to eat. We were able to book both the Italian and Greek speciality restaurants. The food was was beautiful and the service was excellent. The staff in the restaurant brought drinks to the table and there was waiter service around the pool and olive garden area. Having pool side drinks service is certainly not the norm with hotels in Greece. Drinks in the evening were served in proper classes, wine in a wine glass, cocktails in cocktail glasses. So refreshing to not have plastic glasses in the evening. Pool was lovely, however the pool rules were very strict. Plenty of sunbeds available mainly around the olive garden. Rooms were cleaned daily along with fresh towels daily. Pool towels were provided in the room when we arrived. Water provided daily in the room. The hotel grounds are beautifully well kept. I would happily return to the hotel. For the people who have negative comments about this hotel, I would love to know what hotels they are comparing it too.

First and foremost, don't believe the moaners, this hotel is outstanding in everyway! Those that complain about the food must be culinary experts and/or Gordon Ramsay as the food was excellent on every occasion for breakfast lunch and dinner with a different theme every night - the executive chef Giannis does a fantastic job. Excellent service compliments the food and the a la carte restaurant is wonderful too. Our room was a family garden room which was very big, extremely well presented, fantastic shower and toiletries, a safe and fridge. Room cleaned every day to an very high standard. A pleasant walk from the hotel to the room, close to the night time entertainment but not a problem. The pools were wonderful and never packed and the sun beds were always available, in the natural shade of the olive trees over looking the breathtaking sea. Excellent service from the bar staff to your sun bed, very regularly, thank you Julie! The entertainment team were brilliant too, so great with our children. Every single member of staff from our moment of arrival to departure were so friendly, helpful and a joy to share our holiday with. A faultless holiday of which I can't recommend highly enough.
