Cavo D'Oro Hotel

I don’t know where to start with this hotel . I went with my girlfriend after reading good reviews online we decided to go all inclusive with easyJet . When we arrived we were shown to our room and it was an okay size for two people it felt a little cramped but we decided to work with it .The beds were not comfy very hard and the pillows were flat not like a brand new pillows . Whilst I was showering the bathroom flooded the whole room . They sent a guy out to fix it and he pulled so much hair out of the drains it was disgusting . He told us he fixed the issue and then washed all the hair back down again . It made the room stink at that point I told reception to sort it out. The next day I had another shower and it flooded that bad I slipped and injured my arm . I didn’t need medical attention as I only pulled a muscle .The location is good about a 3/4 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the centre of Kalamaki. The atmosphere of the hotel is very quiet and not great . We decided to try the food. The restaurant opens at 7pm the doors opened and we were the first through the door. There isn’t much choice of food but we plated up what we wanted and it was stone cold . The pasta and rice was watery it was that bad it started to run off the side of my plate . The chips had so much salt on them it was impossible to eat them without pulling a face .We left the restaurant and went straight to the reception where all they said was they would tell the kitchen to be more careful. At that point the food had put us off from eating there so we ate out every night for 6 nights . The staff were very rude and unhelpful. I asked to speak to the manager following the flooding they said the manager wasn’t there I asked when the manager would arrive another member of staff said 8am and they was told to shush by the receptionist . I waited outside at 7.45 am to see the manager and she said she doesn’t speak English. No one wanted to take responsibility for the situations . The only two which was nice was the bar staff they were helpful and chatty . But unfortunately we was put off again when I saw ants crawling all over the bar and drinks and there was no ant repellent or anything to be seen . The hotel looks nice on the street front but as you walk further in unfortunately it got worse and worse . Luckily I was out everyday doing something on the island so I wasn’t stuck in everyday . If you are planning to book a holiday here I would strongly advise you don’t and it’s not a good experience. Unless you want rude staff ,an overflowing shower , an uncomfortable bed , terrible cold food , ants near your drinks and hair in your drains .

This hotel situated in Kalamaki, Zakynthos, does not deserve its 4-star classification by any standard. Our stay was deeply disappointing due to serious hygiene deficiencies and a total lack of management oversight. Restaurant & Food Hygiene (Unacceptable): On multiple occasions, we found human hair directly inside the food served at the buffet. Furthermore, the dinnerware was appalling—plates, bowls, trays and cutlery were constantly greasy and covered in dried food residues from previous meals. We had to inspect multiple trays and cutlery just to find a clean one. Substandard Rooms: The bathroom was tiny, non-functional, and poorly maintained, nowhere near the space and comfort required of a true 4-star hotel. Noise & Chaos: Parties, yelling, and loud music continued well past 23:00 every single night. Night reception and management did absolutely nothing to enforce quiet hours or ensure guests could rest. Save your money and look elsewhere in Zakynthos (the island is amazing and you should definitely visit it, but not at this hotel). A completely mismanaged property that ignores basic hygiene and customer respect.

Just arrived home from a 7 night stay at the Cavo doro. We found the hotel to be very clean in all areas, the rooms are quite basic despite having an upgrade, the air conditioning was great and we had a sea view which was lovely, our only complaint was lack of storage in the room, a chest of drawers would make a big difference, the use of the safe is also included in the room which is a bonus I would advise anyone that the local room tax is payable on arrival in cash, luckily we had cash with us, not sure what would of happened if we hadn't. The food was plentiful but a little repetitive and not as hot as I'd like, im vegetarian and found my evening options very limited, luckily I do enjoy salad , breakfast was very good. All inclusive drinks are post mix soda, local beer/wine and a selection of cocktails which were all very nice. We were in the newest block which has its own pool , there isn't a toilet block there so you do have to go to your room to go to the loo which is a little inconvenient, there isn't a bar there either, there is a drinks dispenser with cordial type juice which we didn't like so we had to walk over to the bar to get drinks during the day, the walk takes a few minutes and requires walking over a plank of wood over a shallow ditch then across a grassed area, this again was a little inconvenient. The staff were all very hard working and pleasant, all public areas were kept clean and tidy at all times I would recommend the cavo doro to anyone wanting a pleasant, clean base, the hotel is a few minutes walk from the beach , shops and restaurants

Save your money and avoid this hotel at all cost! We went for 7 days definitely not a 4* hotel i wouldn't even rate 3 star. The food is awful- we had an issue with ants in our toilet- we asked for housing keeping to clean it up and they didn't have anyone deal with it the receptionist had to ask another hotel work for some ant spray- we asked to move rooms they couldn't do that! The hotel is a sham! Its just awful..

**Very disappointing – poor value for money and not what we expected** Unfortunately, we really didn’t enjoy our stay and it was nothing like what we had expected or hoped for from our holiday in Greece. One of the biggest disappointments was the food at the hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very poor, and there was very little that we actually enjoyed eating throughout our stay. When you’re staying somewhere and having most of your meals at the hotel, you expect the food to be a decent standard, but sadly that just wasn’t our experience at all. The cleanliness of the rooms was also a concern, especially because of the ants. One day we went into the toilet and found a large number of ants all crowded around the toilet seat. It was absolutely horrible and definitely not something you expect to find in your hotel room while you’re on holiday. After seeing that, it obviously made us question the overall cleanliness of the room. There was also a massive problem with wasps around the pool area. Every time you got a drink, especially anything sweet, and brought it over to the pool, it would literally end up covered in wasps. It made it really difficult to sit and enjoy a drink or properly relax because you were constantly having to watch out for them. This happened regularly throughout our stay and became really frustrating. The location itself was okay. There are a few bars nearby that you can go to in the evening if you want to get out of the hotel for a drink, which was nice to have. The noise level was also okay and we didn’t find that to be a major issue during our stay. In terms of value for money, we really don’t feel this holiday was worth what we paid. We expected a much better standard, particularly when it came to the food, cleanliness and overall hotel experience. When you spend your money on a holiday, you want to be able to relax, enjoy your meals and make the most of your time away. Unfortunately, we just didn’t feel we got that here. Overall, the holiday was a real disappointment and we definitely wouldn’t choose to return to this hotel. We had really been looking forward to our holiday in Greece, but unfortunately the hotel let the whole experience down for us. The nicest part of the holiday was genuinely the beautiful weather — sadly, we can’t say the same about the hotel.
