Gerakas Belvedere Hotel & Spa

A genuinely lovely week – ignore the outdated reviews We stayed for seven nights at the end of September and, having read some of the older reviews before arriving, I honestly wasn't quite sure what we'd find. I'm very pleased to say that our experience was completely different. We were told when checking out that the owner's daughter has recently taken over the running of the hotel, the rooms have been renovated and there is a new team of staff. That makes a lot of sense, because some of the older reviews simply don't resemble the hotel we stayed in. Our room was huge, modern, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with a lovely balcony and plenty of space. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, peaceful and incredibly relaxing, and the staff throughout our stay were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We were all-inclusive and were genuinely impressed with the food. There was always plenty of choice, lots of fresh salads and Greek dishes, and breakfast was excellent — particularly the ridiculously good Greek yoghurt! We never struggled to find something we wanted to eat. This isn't a hotel for people looking for entertainment, nightlife and activities all day, and for us that was actually one of its biggest attractions. It's quiet. Vasilikos itself is rural and peaceful, with beautiful beaches, tavernas and countryside to explore. We walked more than 30 miles during our week, often simply picking a road or track and seeing where it took us. The spa was another lovely addition and we both had excellent massages during our stay. We've travelled to several Greek islands and this has been one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays we've had. Seven nights of good food, beautiful surroundings, wandering, sunshine and actually having time to stop. We would happily return and would absolutely recommend Gerakas Belvedere to anyone looking for a quieter, more peaceful side of Zakynthos. One tip: when reading reviews, pay attention to when they were written. The hotel appears to have undergone significant changes under its current management, and our experience in September/October 2026 was excellent

Just returned from an amazing stay here, I feel the negative reviews aren’t justified as this hotel is so nice. Everything about my stay was perfect and the food is delicious. It is so tranquil and relaxing especially in the spa area. Staff also very friendly and helpful, will definitely be returning next year.

We booked a 1 week holiday through TUI and arrived at the hotel around midday. At check-in we completed the forms, handed over our passports and the receptionist asked us to return after lunch at 3pm when our rooms would be available. We visited reception at 2.50pm to be informed there was a technical issue, basically they'd double booked us and our 2 rooms were not available!. (the hotel must have known this at midday, so why ask us to complete the check-in forms and delay the situation) The reception area was unbelievably hot, no air conditioning and we spent the next 3-4 hours sat in the unbearable heat trying to contact TUI. Hotel appeared disorganized as they originally said we'd booked through Expedia? In addition there were other guests complaining at reception in the short time that we were there - shambolic springs to mind. They were quick to try and send us away to an alternative hotel that neither ourselves or TUI chose, 45 mins away, so this indicated that they accepted responsibility that they were at fault/it was their mistake.

This was our first trip with our 12 week old daughter. The start was a little bumpy (airline delaying our bag!) but this hotel more than made up for that. The rooms are beautiful, facilities are great and the food is delicious. However, it was the staff that really made our trip. They couldn’t do enough for us and did everything they could to ensure we and our child were comfortable. This included supporting us in finding baby essentials due to our delayed bag. Special shout out to Panos (restaurant/pool manager) and Adamantia (restaurant staff). Both couldn’t do enough to help and made our stay very memorable. Our cleaner was also lovely and really helpful, we didn’t get her name but she covered room 111 between 1st and 15th Sept 2026. We couldn’t have chosen a better hotel for our daughters first holiday and made the best memories, highly recommend!

This could be such a great hotel, if it wasn’t for some minor issues. The food! Breakfast and lunches were perfect, evening meals- well nothing goes together, the quality and limited options were bad. Spoke to Panos the restaurant manager, who was helpful, but put it down to the lack of staff, it’s the quality and choices that let it down. We and many others ate a large amount of the time at local tavernas. There was nowhere to sit and relax after food, other than the restaurant, which isn’t big enough for the 80 rooms. It’s such a shame as they have a beautiful foyer, large upper terrace and a beautiful garden area (all not set up for use). There needs to be another bar area separate from the dining one. The pool area is lovely, though only approx 60-70 beds, for potentially 160 guests, as we have just returned from a quieter time it wasn’t too bad, but could imagine in the height of summer you would never get a bed. Rooms were very clean, though bathrooms a bit shabby, believe these are getting an upgrade (no working hairdryer for 5 days was a let down), after asking daily. The management really need to review these comments, I wouldn’t go back, though Zante was lovely. Top tip, if you want a great beach experience go to Banana Beach (5*)
