Riu Oliva Beach Resort

We went to the hotel for my birthday spent 10 days there my wife and I in the main hotel and grown up son in the bungalow We spend the majority of the stay in the pool area in the bungalows This place is a wreck no TLC could do anything here the rooms are dated but clean . The whole hotel was pretty clean however one day a lot of cockroaches came out one decided to climb on my sun bed and onto my back . The food was a let down breakfast didn’t have a sausage or hash brown in sight. Lunch was really an extended snack bar the pizzas were pretty good. Dinner was not much better with a limited choice . We went to the Canarian and Asian a couple of times but they ran out of dishes or didn’t have them at all . The bar was different plenty of choices and cocktails if one is not on the list they Wii make you one . No queues to speak of. The one thing that wasn’t 3 star was the staff they were brilliant. A big shout out to the guys on the top bar providing table service in a packed area Must thank the management for wishing me a happy birthday giving me a bottle of cava on my birthday and a bottle of cava in the canarian restaurant The WiFi doesn’t reach into any of the bedrooms so consider this on your phone plan The very surprising issue is the repeat customer they get. We spoke to a couple who had visited here 16 times and another couple 32 times. And a lady who summed it up by saying she uses this hotel often but wouldn’t recommend it to her friends. I personally wouldn’t come back here as it wasn’t overly cheap and the food wasn’t very good but can you argue with someone who has been here 32 times

Whilst I’m fully aware of the ongoing issues with this hotel and that’s what is holding RIU doing any updates to it, I do feel that RIU need to seriously look at this hotel further! It’s dated, tired and extremely worn! Whilst continuing to happily take people’s hard earned money for a hotel which is quite frankly not fit for purpose in my opinion. The staff however are FANTASTIC and the usual RIU standards are met in customer service. The food is edible but poor compared to other RIU hotels we’ve stayed at. The location is its biggest asset! RIU is a huge chain and to spend some money on this place despite the ongoing battle would be a drop in the ocean to them! This hotel is an insult to the RIU chain in general. There is a terrible smell of sewage most evenings in the restaurant and around the outside bar area. The tiles around the pools are cracked and worn. The baths/showers are quite dangerous in the rooms and someone with mobility issues would struggle. I would honestly not give this a 3 star rating at all. My advice would be to seek somewhere else to stay until RIU have an answer on what is happening with this hotel. The potential is huge but currently it’s best avoided. We won’t be back sadly

Always enjoy my holiday at the RIU , fantastic staff from front of house to back of house staff always have a good morning and a smile.

There is something special when you find a place where the staff are so efficient and hard working, always greeting you, being attentive and warm to you, in a genuine and natural way. The staff never seem stressed/bored/overworked and that is a credit to the mgmt of the hotel. There is an army of workers every day, cleaning down floors, tending the grass, cutting the trees. You are never more than a minute from a member of staff, who do what they can for you with a smile, not a shrug. Other reviewers comment on the dated rooms. Yes, they are dated, in some ways, but they are extremely spacious, with great storage, scrupulously clean and maintained, and the balcony views from the main building are to die for. The swimming pools are spotless, and direct access in 5 minutes to one of the best uncluttered beaches you'll ever find. Other reviewers have faulted the food. Well, they must eat Michelin starred, because the quality and the variety were excellent - if you can't appreciate a starter of beautiful mussels that would cost you £12, the fault is with you, not the offering. Has a small gym and a tennis court, both excellent and both so underused. Staff are the stand out here, they make your stay seamless. You won't get more bang for your buck than here. Bravo.

Could not fault the hotel, room was clean and spacious, food was good, service and entertainment team all excellent.
