Hotel LIVVO Los Calderones

The resort is perfect if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing break away from the main bustle. It’s a straightforward 1.5 km walk into Meloneras, which is beautiful, upmarket, and authentic - definitely not the place for rowdy nightlife, which suited us perfectly! The walk includes a bit of a hill, so keep that in mind if mobility is a concern. ​Alternatively, public buses run along the main road for just €1. Just note that they operate more like coaches, so you need to press the stop bells (located near the front and middle doors) well in advance, as the drivers move quickly! The hotel also offers a fantastic free shuttle bus at set times throughout the day. ​The facilities are great - a little tired in places, but spotlessly clean. Highlights include a fantastic pool area with plenty of comfortable sunbeds, a peaceful roof terrace, and a jacuzzi. There are cabana beds which are great for lounging and very comfortable. I highly recommend booking a pool-view room; having your own sun loungers, table, and chairs on a private terrace is well worth it for quiet days. The only downside was the room air conditioning, which was quite weak and never got truly cold. Some guests we spoke with ended up sleeping downstairs where it was cooler. While we managed, stronger AC would make a huge difference on hot Gran Canarian days. ​The food is tasty, authentic, and offers plenty of variety. The pool bar is lovely and reasonably priced, featuring live evening singers and board games like Jenga and Connect 4. We also noticed several solo travelers who seemed to be having a great time, warmly welcomed by the attentive team. ​A huge shout-out to Malina, Jocelyne, and Juan at the front desk - they were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our trip. Marjory also deserves special praise for her superb, warm customer service - always delightful and smiling! ​Top Tips: ​Rooms: Book a pool view! Kettles and cups are provided, but bring your own tea and coffee to avoid extra charges. Note that using the in-room safe costs an additional €2 per day. Hairdryers, soap, shampoo, and conditioner are all supplied. ​Pool & Billing: Pool towels are provided. There is also a €100 deposit at check-in. ​Shopping: The on-site shop is very reasonably priced, and a small supermarket with all the essentials is just a 10-minute walk away. ​Car Rental: This can be arranged by the hotel. Very easy to do! If you plan to drive into the mountains, be prepared: it is not for the faint-hearted! The roads are very narrow and winding. Avoid renting a small, low-powered manual car like we did; opting for an automatic with a larger engine will make mountain driving far less stressful.

Just come back from a girls trip (Mother’s and daughters) chosen due to being adults only and good facilities. We arrived late due to flight delay and we missed the restaurant but they had made up some plates of food which was gratefully received as was the cold Brut on arrival. We had 2 pool views suites - very nice. Had everything we needed. We didn’t spend much time in the downstairs area but good as an extra space. Hotel facilities were good for a small hotel. Staff really helpful. Room cleaned to a good standard. Great cocktails and snacks at the pool bar. Pool area was really good. Never really busy, plenty of sunbeds. Only downside was location. Nowhere to walk to, no other bars, shops etc. we got a taxi outside to Flora, the boulevard which was fine. I’d have liked there to have been the option to walk out. A really relaxing hotel

This hotel was amazing. Very tranquil and relaxing vibes. The hotel staff were impeccable. Marlin at reception made us feel at home - she genuinely couldn’t have helped us more. The location is a small bit remote - 25/30 min very doable walk to the main part although a taxi rank is outside the hotel, it’s about 4-6 euro down to the boulevard. The hotel suite/room was gorgeous- having both a downstairs living area and an upstairs separate bedroom area was very accommodating. The rooms were cleaned daily, and very comfortable! One of the nicest places I’ve stayed in abroad ! The gym was fantastic - although aircon would have been preferable in that area - but it didn’t make much of a difference for us ! Thanks guys x

We stayed for 5 nights in July and had a lovely break at this hotel. It is situated in a quiet area of Maslapomas. The only downside is there is a very large family hotel nearby with loud evening entertainment- this however did finish about 10:30pm. The duplex apartments are nicely furnished, spacious and spotlessly clean. The grounds are gorgeous and lush with planting, they have an amazing bonzi collection! Again, the grounds, pool area and facilities are clean and well looked after. All the staff were a delight, very friendly and helpful. We stayed half board, the breakfasts had everything you could imagine on offer and the buffet dinners were nice and varied. The hotel offer a free shuttle bus to the beach throughout the day and there is a very good public bus service nearby which can take you all over the island. A great place to stay if you want a quiet break. Just something to be aware of, the buses get full at peak times and they just drive on by! Particularly on Friday to Porto Morgan for the market.

I recently stayed at Hotel LIVVO Los Calderones for 10 nights, and unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations. The biggest issue was the mattress, which was genuinely the worst I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. It was extremely uncomfortable and left me with back pain throughout the stay, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. To make matters worse, the air conditioning in the upstairs bedroom did not work properly, making it difficult to keep the room at a comfortable temperature during the night. Although the rooms are advertised as duplexes, they are surprisingly small and feel quite cramped. On top of that, the soundproofing is very poor—we could hear almost everything happening in the room next door, which made it difficult to relax. For two consecutive days, our stay was negatively affected by a group of heavily intoxicated guests who were shouting, disturbing other guests, and behaving aggressively. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation with another guest, yet the hotel staff appeared unable to manage it effectively. Despite the guests’ obvious intoxication, they continued to be served alcohol. It was only after we insisted that the police be called that the hotel finally took action. What was even more concerning was that, despite the seriousness of the incident and the violence that had taken place, the guests were allowed to remain at the hotel. This left us feeling very unsafe for the remainder of our stay and completely undermined the relaxing, adults-only atmosphere we had expected. Housekeeping and attention to detail were also disappointing. Basic amenities such as body wash were not replenished automatically, meaning we had to request refills. On one occasion, we were left without any body wash for the evening, which shouldn’t happen at a hotel of this standard. We booked half board, but the food was consistently below average. The dinner buffet lacked variety, and many dishes were bland and uninspiring. One evening, while eating dessert, we discovered a large fly inside it. We immediately brought it to the attention of the chef, but instead of receiving an apology, the plate was simply taken away as if they wanted to remove the evidence, with no acknowledgement of the incident or concern for the experience. Breakfast was equally disappointing, with poor-quality coffee, artificial-tasting juices, and an overall limited selection. One point worth mentioning is that, despite being marketed as an “Adults Only” hotel, children aged 13 and over are allowed. If you’re expecting a strictly adult environment, you should be aware that you’ll likely encounter teenagers during your stay. The hotel’s facilities themselves are well maintained, and the pool and communal areas are pleasant. However, comfortable accommodation, good food, attentive service, and a relaxing atmosphere are far more important, and unfortunately, this hotel fell short in all of those areas. I would not choose to stay here again.
