Suitehotel Playa del Inglés - Adult Only

Just returned from a 2 week holiday with my husband travelling with Jet2. There are a lot of pros and cons with this hotel that people need to be aware especially if going All Inclusive . I will start with the PROS: Rooms We didn't book a Seaview but still had one over looking the small pool in the 3 storey add on . Generous size room with two single beds pushed together to make a double , which you find in a lot of hotels . Tv mounted on the wall above a shelf / desk . Wardrobe with safe . Extra pillow and duvets in the wardrobe if needed . Air con , patio doors leading onto a balcony with small table and chairs . Drying rack which comes in useful . Bathroom again a generous size with a his/hers sinks , toilet and walkin shower . Shower has two shower heads a normal and a waterfall which we used the most as very powerful . No issues with the temperature of the water no matter what time we had a shower. Free water and wine when you check in and there is a small fridg Reception Staff lovely and try to assist as much as they can . Aircon is fabulous here you feel it when you come in from the outdoors. Luggage room if needed . Restaurant We stayed all inclusive ( see also cons ) Breakfast served 7/8 continental ideal if you have an early flight ,8/10.30 for hot and continental . Tea / coffee provided . Lunch is 1/3 Dinner 6.30/9 . Plenty of variety and cooking station for fresh fish ,meat. Each night has a different theme Bbq probably the best with steaks sausages cooked outdoors . The restaurant is very a good size inside or there are about 12 tables outside and an extra 12 tables separate outside for smokers . These do tend to get filled quickly at peak times . Help yourself to drinks at Breakfast and Lunch but table service at Dinner . Cleaning The cleaners come in every day unless you put a sign on the door . They work tirelessly and still greet you with a smile Bars There are 3 bars . Pool side open 10 till 6 Rooftop terrace 10 till 00 Function room ( again check con ) 8 till 11 . Drinks are served in Glassware if sat at a table or Papercups if near pool . Recommend Pools There are 4 pools and 4 jacuzzis. One has a ramp for ease of access and this is used for aquarobics . One is a small round shallow one a bit like a child's even though this is a adults only hotel but nice to just sit in to cool off . One is more for people doing lengths quite deep . There is a fourth small pool behind an annexe to the hotel . The four jacuzzi are on the Rooftop , be aware the sunbeds have no shade here , still worth it for the views Staff ( see also cons )Big shout out Yessica and (sorry we didn't get his name ) the man from the Philippines were so helpful and cheerful nothing was too much trouble who worked on the Rooftop terrace . The entertainment lady was lovely even though a lot of people didn't join in think this was down to the atmosphere Location About 5 mins from the beach , 5 mins to Kasbah where there are a few bars,restaurants, shops and nightclubs , 20/30 to the Yumbo centre for more nightlife . The main bus hub is probably 10min walk but plenty of stops that you can get buses from . Market 10 mins walk . Spar next to hotel , Hiperdino 5 min walk CONS The rooms not in the main building have air-conditioning but we couldn't adjust it , we asked at reception and was told we were in the older part so they didn't work as well . There was a temperature control but no matter which way we moved it , it did not make a difference . Food gets a bit samey after a few days and even curry was a bit basic in flavour . Breakfast are the same I would use the microwave unless you get from the bottom of the trays as it gets quite cold quickly . Tea and coffee machines are switched off after breakfast so you need to get one from Pool side or Rooftop after Lunch/ Dinner . If All Inclusive ask at the bar for the menu as not everything is included , which I get some places do . There is a limited variety of cocktails which I guess is to do with overheads but no Mojito surely that is a classic . You can get a alcohol free gin but the beer is in bottles which you have to pay for , this again doesn't make sense . You can't take glass near the pools or jacuzzi on the roof terrace but you can have a free bottle of water which is glass ?? Again no sense as I am sure it has the same consequences if broken near the pools / jacuzzi. If your All Inclusive and want just a burger or a pizza from the Pool bar between 1 and 3 when Lunch is on dont bother as apparently you can't have it , yet if you stay half board and pay you can !! No checks like other hotels with room numbers when you go for a meal so we saw people with half board bands going in for lunch and then dinner , free drinks as well . Avoid the pool bar if Viktor is on as he has no personality and is very rude . Yet if you are Spanish the charm comes out . He has the attitude of everything is too much hassle for him . No smile once in the 2 weeks no acknowledgement of us ,we ended up deciding on where to have sunloungers on who was on the bar lol . Tutted because we ordered burger and chips at 12.35 one day due to not having had breakfast , after a late night . Music / Entertainment There is only music around the pool if the aquarobics is on or the fashion show . The pool bar has it on but more for the staff , not sure why they can't have some kind of music on . Occasionally live music in the restaurant . The function room displays live acts not once did we go . There is a huge long room with not many comfortable seats and a few like dining chairs with a stage at the end . A few comfortable chairs in reception which adjoining this room and a few tables on a wide area off the side . The bar should open we were told 8pm many a time it wasn't open till at least 9 the act comes on for 10 then it closes at 11 . Hence the Rooftop terrace ,which is huge gets very busy . Not sure why the bar which is closer to the restaurant isn't open earlier , for pre dinner drinks or post dinner . So the restaurant is on Ground 0 and the Roof top terrace is on 9 , yet this bar is on 1 . There are 4 lifts in the main building 2 go to Level9 the other 2 go to Level8 and then you have a flight of stairs up to the roof terrace. We went out most evenings at the lack of entertainment most other hotels we have stayed at start their entertainment from 8 or 9 and the bar is always open . I realise this is a long review but wanted to give everyone the pros and cons . We would stay here again due to location and cleanliness and views from the Roof top but only after considering others we have stayed at with better entertainment / variety of drinks . Though other 4*hotels have set rules for everyone and not separate rules depending on board . We also witnessed Half board bands not signing for there drinks which I believe you pay at reception with your card. Thanks to the staff we had close contact with you deserve your pay and made our holiday .

We have just returned from 10 days at this hotel. On a positive note the food was excellent and we liked the fact that it changed daily with various dishes , Chinese, Indian, Mexican etc. Most of the staff were very warm and friendly and a big shout out to "Ayu" who was lovely . There are two big swimming pools which were fabulous and beds were always available. Unfortunately our room wasn't great "226" bizarrely positioned below the gymnasium which meant some of our stay was very noisy and not relaxing especially early in the morning. We did ask for a room change but the room offered was not suitable. ( Gymnasium should be on the ground floor) The bar situation was a little strange as there were 3 bars but between 6pm - 9pm only one was open which was the rooftop bar. The restaurant was 9 floors down so a bit of a hike up and then back down for a pre-dinner drink. There should definitely be a bar open downstairs when dinner is being served . The Lobby bar downstairs which is close to the restaurant apparently used to open at 7pm but it changed to 9pm. There were clearly staff shortages around the hotel especially in the Lobby bar when it got busy and they struggled to get drinks to people. It was also noticeable that there was a security presence regularly wandering around even in the day which we haven't seen before in Gran Canaria hotels we have stayed in. Rooms were cleaned on a daily basis which was good but the air conditioning in rooms and hotel generally especially the dining area is poor. It was too warm and our room even with air con was never below 25. We have stayed in several Adults only 4 star hotels in recent years in Gran Canaria but unfortunately this one didn't work for us.

Love everything about thos hotel. Food was very good, staff super helpful and nice, location 10/10. Will come here again.

We have been to this hotel many times over the last 10 years and we can only say it gets better every time. The hotel is in a prime location 100yds from the beach it has 2 large swimming pools which are immaculately kept. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the restaurant is second to none. Food is plentiful and always a great choice with bbq several times a week. The staff are always friendly and helpful and we would like to say thank you for helping us celebrate my wife’s birthday. A special thanks to Lucy on reception who always greets you with a smile. Airam on the sunset bar we now think of as a friend and Toni in the restaurant who is a perfect hostess. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Lovely hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooftop bar is excellent with amazing views. The food is good, with plenty to choose from, all tastes are catered for with different themes every night. Rooms are nice and kept very clean although the air con is not controlled in the room so you can’t alter the temperature yourself or turn it off, it’s also noisy which was annoying.
