TUI BLUE Playa Feliz

All round a great hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful, meal times offer a wide range of food and drinks choices, rooms are large and spacious and the hotel is clean and well maintained in all areas. We will definitely be returning again in the future.

We stayed at Tui Blue Playa Feliz for a week in September. We were half board. We had an apartment on ground level almost looking over the sea and lovely well maintained gardens. The apartment was very well equipped, if not a bit shabby. Kettle, coffee maker, fridge, hob, crockery, pans etc. Hairdryer and safe. Good air-conditioning in the lounge but not in the bedroom. We did appreciate the space and the large terrace. Some of the apartments are owned by local people and they've put their own stamp on them. The cleaners didn't do a great job, no evidence of them sweeping the floors or cleaning the shower shower and they do not clean at all on Tuesdays and Sundays, which I've never experienced before at a hotel. Fresh towels most days. I have to say, the drinks are very poor at both hotels, worst I've ever had. To pay €3.60 each for a half filled plastic glass of sangria which resembles coloured water is disappointing. Wines are cheap and watery. A Tequila Sunrise tasted like watery lucozade. Awful cocktails with hardly any alcohol. Food was okay, breakfast in our hotel was fine, the restaurant is small and not much choice. We liked the fact that it was small and quiet though. They make omelettes to order, which we enjoyed. The baked beans were good too. Only 3 choices of pastries, 2 of which were doughnuts. Porridge always cold and gloopy. Fruit and yoghurt lovely. Dinner was at the larger sister hotel next door, Orquidea. Much more choice, big restaurant, bit noisy at times. Very variable. I saw staff throw the fresh hot food onto the cold remains rather than take the cold serving dishes away. Not good as you get hot and lukewarm food mixed together. Not much decent vegetarian food, bland vegetables, pasta and pizzas. I enjoyed the food on two of the nights though. We opted to upgrade for a drinks package at the beginning of our stay. This costs €5 each per night. However, it is only whilst you are eating dinner in the Orquidea restaurant and only includes wines, sangria, juices from the pumps (all watery) and hot beverages. We wish we hadn't bothered. We did buy wines and sangria from the local supermarkets. Much better quality and far cheaper. Some of the barmen at Playa Feliz pool bar were miserable and the drinks they make vary so much, from bad to diabolical. The pool areas are nice and kept clean. Great for children. Usual entertainment, yoga, quizzes, water polo etc plus kids disco and cabaret on the evenings. The main evening entertainment is in the big sister hotel Orquidea next door. The animation team work very hard. Not much to do at this resort. Small shopping centre with two supermarkets, an excursion shop, tourist shop, couple of bars and restaurants. You can walk left and right on the prom but neither lead to anything exciting, although the walk along the seafront is really pleasant.The hotels have shops too. The other 2 sister hotels didn't look up to much, and were on hills. The buses are good and the bus stop is very close. We went to the capital Las Palmas which was lovely. Old town, (Vegueta), new town plus a great golden sandy beach called Las Canteras. Bus cost €5.60 each way. We also did the mountain peaks tour with LCT. Very good. We went to Firgas, Teror and saw lovely mountains. I would recommend this trip. Book direct, costs €55, although the man in the shop opposite the hotel charged us €65 each. Would I go to this hotel again? Possibly, but only if it was a cheap late offer. I've stayed at much better 4* hotels and would say it's more like a 3*. We did like having the ground floor apartment though. I think this hotel is ideal for families with young children who want to stay by the pool all day and partake in activities.

During our holiday my wife’s mobile phone was stolen from a zipped rucksack which was under a sun lounger poolside at the Hotel. We had only left the bag momentarily; we immediately reported the theft to the hotel reception. The hotel receptionist showed little interest in the matter and only contacted security after my wife pushed for information on what we should do next. We tried to offer information about where we were located when the theft happened but were met with a lack of interest. Whilst we had this exchange a TUI representative joined the conversation. The TUI rep asked if we had made all the usual checks to see if we could find the phone; we had, we were even able to show the phone had been taken off site whilst we were in conversation (via an app). We did suggest that TUI raised awareness of keeping belongings safe in the hotel complex as it is obviously not as secure as guests may believe; TUI did not do this and appeared to us to be very complacent. We felt that TUI did not care about our experience and there was no follow up and offer of how they may be able to assist us. We appreciate TUI are not responsible for the theft, but what has concerned us is the complete lack of empathy and support. We were able to manage the situation ourselves, contacting banks etc. and we took ourselves to the local police station to report the theft. TUI nor the hotel receptionist advised we should take our passports, as ID was required by the police to make the report. The police were very understanding and helped us even without the required ID. The police even apologised that we had this experience on their island, we had absolutely nothing from TUI.

Nice place. No good if you want a beach holiday though. The hotel is set back from the rocks and access to the sea is over the rocks. If its the beach you want you need to jump on the bus to Maspalomas. That beach is stunning. Its like the Sahara. Hotel food decent. First night Saturday 5th September...Roast Beef and yorkshires!! Yes! No roasts after that but if you are fussy or taking kids the pizzas are freshly made and lovely. We only went Half board so can't really comment on lunchtime food. Rooms are nice and the main hotel has several pools but very busy with families and people even now still putting towels down at 8am and never use the bed all day. The hotel is perfect to explore the Island. The bus stop right outside will take you North to Las Palmas..the capital and only 40 minutes pretty much non stop and I think 4.95 euro? about £4.50. There is a taxi rank there too but the bus is so much cheaper. If you want Playa De Inglis or Maspalomas or Puerto Rico (my favourite place PR) crossover the road via the flyover and head south. Buses every 20-30 minutes and really cheap too. The hotel was decent and I would go again but buy snacks at the two shops as it was expensive to have All Inclusive.

Absolutely disgusted with this hotel and their policy, Paid £1,500 for a half-board stay and was disappointed to find that NO DRINKS, including basic soft drinks/water at dinner, were included. This made the half-board package feel POOR value and should have been made much clearer before booking! Disappointed. How can you have a dinner with no drink???? Having to pay EXTRA
