Barcelo Lanzarote Royal Level

My stay at this hotel was an absolute nightmare, and I can honestly say it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. The worst part of my stay was waking up to find a rat on my face. This was absolutely horrifying and completely unacceptable for any hotel. Security attempted twice to remove the rat from my room, but both attempts were unsuccessful. After this shocking incident, I went to reception and was told that another room would be ready at 3 p.m. This left me having to stay away from my room for approximately eight hours while waiting for the situation to be resolved. When I finally returned, the reception staff were not even aware that I was supposed to be moved to another room. The lack of communication and organisation was unbelievable. When I was finally moved, I was given a downgrade to a pool-view room instead of the sea-view room I had originally booked. I had also specifically requested a quiet room, yet I was placed near the lift. It felt as though my preferences and comfort were simply ignored. The disappointment continued with the resort facilities and entertainment. The hotel is presented as an active resort, but the animation and activities were extremely lazy and underwhelming. There was very little energy or enthusiasm. The only time they organised a decent activity was when they needed to take pictures, which made the entertainment feel more like a photo opportunity than a genuine effort to entertain guests. The gym was another disappointment. The photos make it look much bigger and better than it actually is in real life. What you see in the pictures does not match the reality, which adds to the feeling of being misled by the hotel’s presentation. The food was average, with not much variety, and certainly nothing particularly impressive. The nearest beach was also around a 25–30-minute walk away, which is worth knowing before booking if you expect a convenient beach holiday. Overall, I felt seriously misled by this hotel. Between waking up with a rat on my face, the failed attempts to remove it, the eight-hour wait, the poor communication, the downgrade in room, the ignored request for a quiet room, the disappointing entertainment, and the misleading photos of the gym, this experience was completely unacceptable. This is the most disappointing and misleading hotel I have ever stayed in. The experience was nowhere near what I expected from the hotel’s presentation. Management needs to take hygiene, pest control, communication, guest satisfaction, and the accuracy of its advertising much more seriously. I would not stay here again, and based on my experience, I would strongly advise other travellers to think carefully before booking.

Checked in at the wrong desk so didn’t find the royal level lounge till the last night and unaware of a second pool till the last day as royal level checking in were busy. Although it says no reservation of Sun beds people obviously do! Just need the lifeguard to monitor it for the first 20 minutes when people come down and leave straight away. Overall we enjoyed the stay though. Costa Teguise is only a €5 taxi if you want a couple of nights out.

Have been to this hotel several times now, the last twice as a Royal Level guest. Very quick transfer time from the airport which is always a bonus. The hotel itself is very impressive - well decorated, well staffed, very clean everywhere. Smooth check-in and my room on the 7th floor was simply lovely - very big, very comfortable bed and very quiet. Service in the Asana restaurant was great - again loads of staff and the food selection at all sittings was very impressive - loads of choice and there really was anything you could possibly want. All food and plates were piping hot as well. Choice of outside seating on the terrace as well which was lovely on a sunny morning. All pool areas were very clean and well maintained. You can wander to the sister hotel across the road which gives you a choice of 3 different acts on a night to choose from if you wish - main lounge, Royal Level lounge bar and the bar lounge over the road. The location is perfect for me - it's away from built-up areas which make it lovely and quiet but only a short walk along the front to Costa Teguise either along the coast road which is lovely (and flat) on on the back road. Or you can go the other way towards Arrecife. Very frequent bus services in either direction as well. Only negative was when I wanted to get access to the safe and the reception staff agreed to send someone to my room but that didn't happen. Went back to reception the next day and they charged me (supposed to be included in Royal Level). Still no-one came to the room so went back to reception. They refunded me and a gentleman came straight to my room and unlocked the safe. So sorted in the end but far from ideal. All in all would happily stay again - just seems to improve with every visit. Had a great relaxing time which is exactly what I was looking for.

This complex used to be two hotels and is now joined as one hotel (albeit divided by a main road). They still feel like two different hotels. For quality and ambience opt for a sea view then you will get to room in the best hotel which is nearest the sea. The 'active' side is awful and reminded me of a multi story carpark - its a bit cheaper but you pay for what you get here!

The Royal Level was outstanding :- room spacious and super clean,quiet with great sea view. Service throughout was excellent. The Royal Level pool and bar was wonderful and as we were on an All Inclusive stay the coctails and drinks were superb. We were initially concerned at how big the complex is but we felt our area was perfect. Food was of good quality and freshly prepared - the speciaity resturant we picked on night was super. My wife also loved the access to the Olympic swimming pool across the road - while i read my book by the pool! We used Barcelo before, years ago, and the brand is definatley now a firm favoute! We thought the AI package was good value for money
