Barcelo Lanzarote Royal Level

This was our second trip to Barcelo Lanzarote Active Resort and our first time staying in the Royal Level section. We arrived late in the day at 9.30pm and the royal level reception was closed but check-in at the standard reception was brilliant. The lady who helped us saw we had checked in online and ran through everything really quickly and held onto our bags so we could make the restaurant before it closed. The resort was fully booked and you could tell. The Goa pool was nice with cabana beds and decent loungers but the usual issues of people reserving beds early was prevalent. No staff were prepared to police it, much like in a lot of hotels. People would reserve the best beds and then stay at the pool for a maximum of an hour! That said, we did manage to find somewhere every day. There is another Royal Level pool which had plenty of space but the bar there was closed. One oddity of the Royal Level is the choice of All Inclusive drinks. At the Goa and Lounge bars you could pretty much have anything you wanted. A huge range of premium spirits were included. However, it appeared that these premium drinks were not included if you chose to visit one of the other bars across the hotel. These bars are where the entertainment is. Speaking of which, we never saw the entertainment at these bars because there were not enough seats. The hotel was full but didn't provide enough seating for all the guests. We did have a couple of nights at the Royal Lounge which was less busy but much smaller, often with just a solo singer. The entertainment here was good though and we enjoyed the night. Food on the whole was good. Plenty of choice. There was a grill station where the chef would cook you something fresh and this was always tasty. However, again, the hotel just didn't seem ready for the number of guests. The chef would take 2 orders at a time so you quite often had to wait for 6 people in front of you to have their food cooked. The grill was huge, why not cook as much as possible? Service varies in the restaurant. One night we had a lovely lady show us the wine list and we picked a nice wine that was included. The next night we tried to get the same wine again from a different person. Even spelling the wine out on her pad we still got the wrong thing. In the end I gave up. Whilst here we suffered a power cut in the room and it was off for about 4 hours. I reported to reception and they said they were aware but could give no estimate as to how long a fix would take. I know hotels, like anywhere, can have issues and we were not bothered by the power cut but the hotel didn't seem to care how it affected us. They didn't offer to change rooms, they didn't offer a temporary room. When I told reception that we had to have a shower using the torch light on our phones he said "using the shower takes more power and you are making it worse". I said we were not prepared to stay in the room without power overnight, he just shrugged and said they were fully booked. An hour later power was back on so we were ok. The facilities at the hotel are excellent. The Olympic pool is really good if you are a good swimmer. I used the pool at 7am and walking through the hotel I met the army of cleaners doing a great job in getting the resort ready for the day. Overall the hotel is good, it's just a couple of things that stop it from being excellent. The odd drinks package, the fact there's not enough seating in the bars when it's fully booked and some indifferent staff.

Lovely relaxed week in the sun (mostly . Our second stay at this hotel and we will go back again. The only downfall to our week in the sun was the queues we faced to get through passport control on arrival.Very disorganised.

Junior Suite was great just such a shame about the view , the staff where great , service great good food

Just back from the barcelo royal level Lanzarote. We stayed 10 nights and totally enjoyed our stay, the staff are very friendly and helpful. As we stayed all inclusive royal level we had access to everything the hotel offers. We ate mostly in the buffet restaurant and the food was very good lots of variety the restaurant itself is spotless and food is well displayed, the staff here are very friendly I found Rosie and yousef (Joseph) very attentive. The hotel is split into two the royal level side and right across the road the sport active part of the hotel which is exceptionally big it seemed to be suited more to families, it would not suit us and we were very happy we chose the royal level side. we had access to everything over in that side too. I do think that at least one of the pools and pool sides should be adult only for royal level guests which is usually the case when you stay royal level or priority in other hotels. There are enough pools to make this possible especially as there are three pools on the higher side where the goa bar is. There is also two pools in another section which has artificial grass which is under utilised …. The Bali beds are broken and the bar is not open if updated it would be very suitable and fun for people with babies and young children. There is then a very large pool and area for people who are not royal level. There is a very lovely foyer with plenty of seating live piano playing card/ game playing and chatting it has a very good atmosphere . I would return to this hotel and with the addition of an adult only area I would definitely return.

From check-in, we arrived late, when the friendly reception staff made sure we were able to get to the restaurant for dinner before it shut at 22.30, all through our 10 night stay it was simply a fantastic holiday for us. Great hotel, superb food and premium drink, I'm not a lager drinker but the local beer Dorada is excellent, rooms were big, clean and had everything we needed. Lovely bathroom, walk-in shower and double basins. The pool areas were spotlessly clean with plenty of sunbeds and cabanas. Everything is perfectly located, you're never more than a 5min walk from anything! Excellent gym which we used 3 times. The Koi Asian restaurant and the Dolce Vita Italian restaurants are nice for a change of scenery and vibe from the buffet restaurants. The town of Teguise is a 30min walk or 10mins by bus and worth a visit. We walked it a few times and stopped at a couple of the little beaches for a bit of snorkeling which was excellent! This is our 2nd time to Lanzarote and based off this experience we would definitely return and would happily stay at the Barcelo Lanzarote Active again. The Royal Level upgrade is 100% worth it if you fancy a more relaxed atmosphere. Location = excellent. Rooms + Facilities = excellent. Food & Drink = excellent. Staff = excellent!
