Gran Castillo Tagoro Family & Fun

This is a smart, lively, well maintained hotel that is full of character with interesting architecture throughout. The hotel is situated at the far end of Playa Blanca next to the spectacular Punta de Papagayo. We really liked this location. It's a 20 minute walk to Rubicon marina, a bit longer if you have children! It is about 40 mins to the Playa Blanca strip. The paths are good and the views beautiful. If you don't want to do the walking I think there are bus/taxi options. There are plenty of shops and some cafes/bars very close to the hotel so it is by no means isolated. You can also hire bikes and book excursions in the shopping centre right next to the hotel. The staff are without a doubt 5 star. Upon arrival to the hotel, no sooner had we left the bus, one of the reception team ran out to greet us and carry our cases. This was such a friendly welcome. We were all given a drink and our child was given not one but two balloons on a stick which was very much appreciated. The housekeeping team were brilliant. It was nice to chat to them, and all their hard work did not go unnoticed. Each day our room was immaculate and tidy. The restaurant was extremely well organised and again the staff worked tirelessly to provide a top quality service. The animation team also provided lots of fun activities throughout the day. Our room was fabulous. Very big with two large single beds and a large sofa bed. I didn't think the noise insulation was particularly bad. The main door to the corridor was well sealed and there was another door before the room. So we didn't hear much noise from corridors. The bathroom was very good and spacious. There was some very thoughtful detail included in the room such as a little step for children to be able to reach the sink and handsoap. Also, toiletries for adults and children and two large bottles of water on arrival. Again, these extra touches did not go unnoticed. Breakfast was exceptional. Lots of delicious breads and cakes to choose from, cereals, lots of fresh fruit and all sorts of hot and continental options. A particular favourite was the big block of honeycomb oozing very tasty honey and the fresh coffee with hot milk. The only problem is ... what do you choose! Again this was all very well organised. Now we know why the word "fun" is in the hotel's name. There is so much going on for children here. It is very child focused. There are several swimming pools to choose from plus a fantastic splash park and a slide pool with the most beautiful backdrop of mountains. There is also a football/basketball pitch where children played for hours. There was a mini club for children but we didn't actually get to experience this because there was just so much to do elsewhere. We stayed in the castillo zone half board and didn't use the gold level and this was absolutely fine for us. All the facilities available to us were good. The view from our room was of Punta de Papagayo so very delighted with this. The only negative is not a criticism but more of a personal preference. There was very loud music entertainment each evening until about 10.30pm. There was no option to have a quiet evening on the balcony for instance. If we could have had the choice whether to listen to this or not it would have improved our experience. It is a fun hotel though and if you like lively music entertainment and lots of fun each evening then this would suit you well. Muchas gracias team Gran Tagoro. X

So far so good, I mean so far beating expectations. I don’t normally like all inclusive vibes but quality, service and general feel good vibes so far (2days in) very happy with our choice. Staff on point on every ask, even down to waiting and cleaning team, just make you feel good to be here!

We have had a wonderful family holiday at the Gran Castillo Tagoro!! We spent 10 brilliant days here as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children, 7 and 3). I would say this hotel is absolutely perfect for their ages - spot on, they were never bored once! It was lovely to be greeted by the manager on arrival. She is absolutely lovely and makes a real effort to speak to all guests during their stay to introduce herself. We stayed in an adventure room, which was fantastic for the kids and very spacious and beautifully clean for us all. Great to be right beside all of the kids pools too. The Adventure side is excellent for families: there is a small 'baby pool' area with two pools for paddling, a larger family pool, a. splash pad - which is excellent - and the kids 'Dragon slide' pool with the slides - our kids spent hours here having the best time ever. We ventured over to the Castillo side pool on 2 occasions and had a great time there, but the adventure side suited our kids better so we spent most our time there. All of the staff are wonderful, so hard working and polite - especially during the busy half term week. The restaurant service at the main buffet restaurant is so slick! Big shout to them all for looking after us all so well. The food is AMAZING.. my goodness, we feel very well fed and watered after 10 days! One thing that was new for us was the table drinks service for lunch and dinner, it was nice to have a member of staff get your drinks for you like you would in a normal restaurant. SO much variety, cooked to perfection and a real effort made on every meal. I cannot see how anyone could say otherwise - it was brilliant and the chefs and staff should be commended - thank you! (One thing we would say could be improved is the coffee - but that is all!) The animation team were great fun! We loved that they came and spent time with the children in the afternoon and had games for them, or they got in the pool and played with them, and even did a mini disco in the water (the water fight was great entertainment!!). The mini disco each night was a real highlight for our boys. We enjoyed that it was outdoors at the Adventure side, but this ended at the end of October (along with the breakfast at the Adventure side which we also enjoyed) but we can understand the reasons of course being the end of the busy season. We thought the hotel was well placed to enjoy a lovely walk to the Marina, and also a very short 10 mins taxi ride to Playa Blanca. There are also a couple of little shops and a supermarket right next door to the hotel. The reception staff were so helpful and nothing was ever a problem. Overall this is an excellent family hotel, perfect for us and our children. It is probably more of a 4 star resort, but don't let this put you off. You will have a great time here and you will be very well looked after! Thank you for a great holiday

Great holiday, lovely hotel with a variety of foods and entertainment. Lovely meal in Italian restaurant on site.

We have had such an amazing stay at Gran Tagoro ! We stayed in the Adventure Area and our Junior Suite was so spacious (2 floors!) and comfortable . The food throughout has been incredible and my kids were very happy with the selection (I also love that whilst there is pizza and chips available they are slightly tucked away so you can encourage your kids to try some more adventurous things too. The desserts are incred.). The swimming pools were awesome with something for everyone - a big pool if you want a bit more of a swim and of course the dragon pool for slide fun. The staff are the jewel in the crown- Montserrat at breakfast, Miguel and Sonia in Ricotta restaurant , all the amazing entertainment staff - I wish I knew all their names to thank them- the chefs, the bar staff etc. The beach opposite the hotel was better than I thought it would be - small yes, but perfectly clean and we had a lovely afternoon there. For 4 euros in a taxi you can be at Playa Dorada which is a beautiful large beach, with very gentle waves and all the services you need . We will definitely be back!
