Grand Hyatt Lanzarote Playa Dorada Resort

Just got back from a weeks holiday at this hotel. Stayed at the Barcelo last year whoch is much newer and hard to beat. Both are perfect location for the beach and marina. We are a family of 3, and we only booked a week before we went so our room didn't have a a nice view really as we were on the first floor near to the children's pool. The room was quiet and had a large single bed and a super king size bed. The room was tidy and had everything you needed but the hotel is certianly not a 5*, the paintwork on the bathroom, wardrobe and toilet doors were in need of some tlc. However, there were painters painting the outside of the bedrooms for the past 2 days touching up the white washed walls. In terms of food, the buffet was by far the best food in options and quality. I am a very fussy eater and pescatarian so lots of choice for fish eaters. My boyfriend also loves meat and had loads of choices too We ate at Hana the asian restaurant which i liked, the Italian that wasn't the best and the grill that was gorgeous inside but the food didnt really match up to the ambiance. The cocktails are delicious and good options for All Inclusive, some of the staff are a little grumpy and need some warming up! However, the pool bar staff 2 x young men are great! Id definitely recommend going to the marina for a meal to break up the AI meals and the chinese Gangnam is also amazing! All in all a lovely holiday a perfect location in Playa Blanca as nicer hotels

My first day and wow beautiful hotel staff friendly helpful.Service top notch.Had a meal in the buffet it was so good,I normally cruise and I would compare this andalucian buffet to celebrity 😋 if you know you know.Looking forward to the rest of the week well done.

We visited with friends and had a very pleasant experience. The food at Hana and Nao was excellent. A special thank you to Kelly, who introduced us to the restaurants and gave us great recommendations, and to Emilio, who served us some wonderful drinks. We would also like to thank the lovely young lady who prepared such a delicious coffee. Everyone made our visit even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back in April 2027!

* We stayed as two adults and two children on standard all-inclusive over October half-term, paying around £5,000 as a flight + hotel package. * We had a good holiday, but overall felt it was overpriced and didn’t deliver the standard we expected from the Grand Hyatt name and, very shocked it’s part of Jet2s Luxe collection! The negatives * Buffet: Limited choice and repetitive. Food labelling was poor, and serving spoons were mixed between dishes, which would make things difficult for vegetarians, vegans and anyone with food intolerances. * À la carte restaurants: Disappointing overall but better than the buffet. My pork dish in the Italian appeared undercooked and was inedible for me. I saw another woman receive a similar-looking dish the following day. Perhaps that is how it is intended to be served, but it wasn’t for me. * All-inclusive food availability: It didn’t feel like a full-day offering. Snacks were only available between 3pm and 5pm, with no all-day snack bar. * Children’s ice creams: None available at the bars, and the buffet ice-cream machine seemed to be out of action about 80% of the time we tried it. * Pool rules: No pool toys or floats allowed in the main pool, which was disappointing for the children. * Pool furniture: The main pool and children’s pool felt like the place where old sunbeds and tables go to die! Very tired, shabby and well below the standard I expected. * Main pool: The water looked very cloudy during our stay. The pool itself needs a complete refurbishment, including tiling to bring it up to the standard of the other pool. * Pool temperatures: We found the pools cold. * Restaurant toilets: Tired and unpleasant. The positives * Drinks: Very good cocktails, beer and wine, plus branded soft drinks in bottles. Coke from a glass bottle always tastes so much better! * Staff: Friendly throughout our stay. * Family rooms: Proper beds for the children were a big plus. However, the partition offered little useful separation—sliding partition doors would make a huge difference. The bathroom would also benefit from an extractor fan. * Balinese beds: Paying €60 for a family bed in the Grand Club area genuinely saved our holiday. This area felt much more like the Hyatt experience we had expected, and we booked it three times. Lovely, although disappointing to feel we needed to spend extra to get that experience. * Location: Lovely views and walks, particularly around the marina. Playa Blanca itself felt a little dated, but we enjoyed exploring. Overall * A good family holiday, helped enormously by the friendly staff, quality drinks and Grand Club days. However, at for the price we paid for standard all-inclusive, the food, pool areas and overall upkeep fell short. You’re paying for the Hyatt name, but the experience doesn’t consistently live up to it. My tip if you’ve already booked * If you’re on standard all-inclusive rather than Grand Club, book a Balinese bed in the Grand Club area each day if your budget allows—it made such a difference to our holiday! * Have a big, late breakfast, then eat at the snack bar between 3pm and 5pm to minimise trips to the buffet. Snack bar is better than the à la cartes. * Enjoy the fabulous drinks, the view, and friendly staff.

What a disappointment! This really wasn't what we expected from a five star, all-inclusive hotel. The main hotel is looking rather tired and would benefit from a fresh coat of paint particularly in the busy communal areas. Staffing also seems very limited, resulting in delays at the bar and tables not being cleared promptly. The main buffet restaurant food is very repetitive, often cold and overcooked at times. The food area often looks untidy as lots of kids being left to serve themselves thus causing spillages that are not cleared promptly. The rooms themselves are nice, although the toiletries provided were very limited. As for the minibar, it consisted of beer, water and fizzy drinks. A small bottle of wine would certainly have been a welcome addition and more in keeping with what you'd expect from a five-star all-inclusive experience. Don’t get me started on the sunbeds around the main pool. They are often reserved early in the morning, only to remain unoccupied for much of the day. This really needs to be addressed. I appreciate that some guests may have a very different experience particularly those upgraded to the more luxurious areas of the hotel. However, we shouldn't have to pay extra to access a higher standard of facilities and service when we've already booked a five-star, all-inclusive holiday.
