We stayed here for the first time last summer and decided it was so good we'd return in October. Hotel was busier than last summer, but everything was just as good and no issues getting a sunbed every day. Breakfast and evening meal lovely and room great. We will be back again one day.

Recently, we spent our 12th holiday at the Colon Guanahani and as always it never fails to please us. The reception staff welcomed us back again on arrival with smiling faces and check in was very swift. We were offered welcome drinks which was a lovely touch. The staff throughout the hotel were so pleasant and helpful and many of them are still there from our previous stays. The food in the restaurant was excellent, as always, with a huge selection to suit everyone's needs. The room had been recently decorated which was lovely. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout and our room was cleaned to a high standard each day. The heated pools are lovely and relaxing for daily swimming. This hotel provides every thing you need for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Looking forward to our next stay there.

This was our sixth visit to the Colon Guanahani and we were very pleased to note that standards remain very high. The team members who work there are all very friendly and many greet you as returning friends. What is enjoyable is the tranquil atmosphere, the warm pools with no shortage of sun beds and the variety of the menus. The standard of cleaning is very high. It actually pains me to leave a negative review for this hotel, we had such a fabulous time at their sister hotel just over the road, we fully expected pretty much the same, although it is "one star" less. It started well, check in was a breeze, straight to the room, dump the bags and dinner (which was actually nice), then back to the room. I booked a suite so that, post surgery, I could have a lounge to relax in both at night and during the day, to avoid annoting my partner. On first look it was great, spacious, clean, tidy, great bathroom and with a large veranda just steps from the pool - what's not to like... I thought! True to form, in the night I was uncomfortable so got up and retired to the lounge and took to the sofa - OOPS! It was, without doubt, the most uncomfortable thing I have ever tried to sit on. Just a 2 seater, that swalled you up, your bottom went down, your knees came up and the back tilted you forward - ABSURD! I actually waited until day 3 to mention it... by this point the whole absurdity of the "suite" hit home. The bedroom was towards the back... it actually had a window in one side... leading onto the open corridor... no chance of fresh air or else everyone walking by would just be able to pop their heads in! But the lounge was a no go waste of space... I asked them to change the sofa. Not a spare in the house. The staff sat on it, tried stuffing it with quilts, cushions, you name it... they brought me another single sedan chair... but the suite was to relax in, as a couple... such a waste of space! At the same time as hating the suite we wre both very over the food. If you mix Tepid and Repetitious you might get TRepetitious!!! It really was. After the third day everything looked the same, tasted the same, and even when you ordered the "special" to be served... it came on red hot plates but was again... Tepid! By day 6 I could take no more and emailed that we would be leaving early. NOW here is something to their absolute credit. I had informed them of my comfort needs well in advance. I had complained... They accepted that the sofa wasn't really good enough... They also apologised that they had not been able to help. On learning that we were leaving early they refunded me the final two days. I am indeed beyond grateful for that, truly unexpected. To their credit almost all of the staff were great, always smiling, always interested - aside from the chap that took your orders at the pool bar... for 5 days he was the most miserable person ever - but only with us!!! Another PLUS point... their heated pool although not as warm as their sister, 5 star hotel, was WARM! So much warmer than others that say heated and they really mean just "not cold". I could climb in at any time of the day and it was comfortable. Countless other guests were there for their 4th or 5th visit... Adults only, Older Clientelle, it obviously suited some... Sadly, not for us.
