Hotel Catalonia Oro Negro

Arrived at the hotel at midday the room wasn’t ready which we expected so got a lounger round the pool. Our room was 334 over looking the pool , nice room but dated but it was ok , cleaner came in every day . The entertainment team were fab and the staff were pleasant . The food was nice. Dreaded the bed snatch on a morning with everyone having there areas to sit ,god help you if you took there spot 🙁 After speaking to a lot of guests the hotel had contacted them about building works renovating two floors in one of the buildings and tiling 2/3 of the pool area we wernt told about this and some days it was loud end of the day it will look great when finished. Leaving tomorrow after a week stay at this hotel. We have been before. Hotel itself is a great location central to local shops and restaurants. Pool area brilliant and great swimming pool. Staff very friendly and helpful especially the restaurant and bar staff can’t do enough for you. For a 3 star I thought the meals are fine the food is good quality and always something you can eat, yes it can be a bit repetitive but what hotel isn’t. Parts that are not so great our safety deposit box didn’t work on arrival and when we raised concerns about this the reception staff didn’t seem to bothered. So we have went our full holiday with none. Our room was clean on arrival however could be doing with updated as lots of wear and tear. The cleaning is not up to standard I had to ask for clean towels 3 times in one day and our beds got changed once the whole stay which isn’t good enough! Especially the money we paid for the holiday. So this really needs worked on. Overall not to bad an experience and would return here but definitely needs some work done to improve.

AVOID this hotel! It should be closed as it is a building site. Unless your are a return ( favourite ) customer, the staff will do nothing to help. There is ugly green netting all around the pool. The building work is also going on in the rooms, 1 level above ours. From 8am until 6pm. The dust on the balcony was awful, and never cleaned during our stay. We were offered 1 alternative room, which was like a shoe box, facing a very, noisy, busy road. We asked to be moved by Jet2 daily. Nobody helped? The alternative was to use another hotel daily. We found out on the last day that there was a rooftop pool. No offer of this to guests. On the last long day, not a chance of late check out, no courtesy room either. Just a shower outside. We were even refused towels after check out. When we asked the day before for towels, the same woman said ' yes '. You know who you are! We were willing to pay for anything, to have a better experience. Rooms were available to book online, and I told you there was room at the hotel for a late check out? You all knew about my health conditions, yet you denied me a nice relaxing holiday, so did Jet 2. I asked for a hoja de reclamaciones from reception to be denied and given an in house feed back form? This is illegal and again, hotel staff, you knew what you were doing until I mentioned the police. You couldn't give it to me any quicker? Manager don't bother saying sorry, you were no where to be seen. You are fully AWARE of these above issues, as you've apologised to other reviews and have done nothing. Shame on you. Outside of the hotel to the left and right are lap dancing bars, this should be mentioned also. This had put me off Las Américas completely.

First time at the Oro Negro and it was really good. We were pleased to be upgraded on arrival to a premium room on the 9th Floor, it faced the pool and had a lovely sea view. Robes, slippers, complimentary water, chocolates and a fruit platter were in the room. The beds were clean and very comfortable, air conditioning was spot on. There was a refurb taking place at the pool and some of the rooms but noise wasn’t too bad. Breakfast was great plenty choice, dinner was a hit or a miss, we went twice there was always something you could eat but we prefer to eat out. Entertainment was fine, the staff are lovely, the receptionists very welcoming and always phoned taxis for us special mention to Jolanta who works in the pool bar she is very efficient and such a nice girl. We really enjoyed our stay and met some nice people too. We will most definitely return.

Very dated and uncleaned rooms, sun loungers locked up till 9-10am. Staff very nice
