Mediterranean Palace

We have stayed at the Mediterranean Palace in Playa de las Américas several times before the recent refurbishment and have always had positive experiences, particularly with the service at the pool bars and main bar. Unfortunately, this visit did not meet the same standard, and we noticed several areas where the service and facilities could be improved. The drinks at the bars felt very expensive, and many were served with a large amount of ice, leaving less drink than expected for the price. The service also seemed less welcoming than on previous visits. At times, staff appeared busy or disengaged, with limited acknowledgement when guests approached the bar. We appreciate that staff may be working under pressure, but a more friendly and attentive approach would make a significant difference. The main bar in the evening was particularly disappointing. Although it is advertised as serving until midnight, the pumps were being cleaned down at around 11:45pm. When we asked for another drink, the staff appeared frustrated, and the interaction felt uncomfortable. We found one member of staff, who had distinctive rasta-style hair, to be particularly abrupt during our visit. This is based on our personal experience, and we hope the hotel can provide additional support or training to ensure that all guests receive a consistently welcoming service. The dining hall can become extremely busy, sometimes making it feel more like a queueing system than a relaxed dining experience. However, the food itself was excellent, with a wide variety of good-quality options. The drinks served in the dining room were also very good, which was a definite positive. Housekeeping was fantastic, and we had no complaints at all about the room service or cleanliness of the room. The pool area was another area that could be improved. It felt very cramped, with sunbeds positioned extremely close together. Although we were able to find sunbeds, the area did not feel particularly comfortable or spacious. We also noticed that the pool area appeared dirty, even early in the day. The sunbeds seemed to be cleaned, but the surrounding areas did not appear to be washed down as regularly as they could be. It is a shame because we have stayed here before without experiencing these issues. The hotel is in an excellent, central location and is convenient for everything, which is one of the reasons we have returned several times. Unfortunately, based on this most recent stay, we would be hesitant to recommend the hotel or return at present. There are many positives, especially the food, housekeeping and location, but the bar service, pool area and busy dining hall affected our overall experience. We hope management will take this feedback constructively, as improvements in these areas could make the hotel a much more enjoyable place to stay again.

The hotel is tidy, the staff are polite, cheerful, and fun. I haven't often seen cleaning staff singing while they work, but I liked it 🙂 The hotel is well located, close to good restaurants, shops, and the beach is at the end of the pool area. Food is great. There are always free benches in the garden, and the pool is really good. We had an all-inclusive stay for 2 weeks and it was amazing. On top of that, we each got 4 free tickets to the restaurants Coal and Diabolo, which are in the hotel grounds. Everywhere you go, you're greeted by smiling staff who are up for a chat. The gymnastics in the pool area is super fun and a must-do. I can't praise this hotel enough. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and plan to take my whole family there soon.

Just spent a week in this wonderful hotel. Almost everything was fantastic. Hotel is clean, beds are great . Location is fantastic and staff could just not do enough to help, in particular almost all of the staff in The Pier Restaurant just could not do enough to help us. Unfortunately there was one staff member who was cross and unhelpful every day. Her name was “ Micaela”. She was a well built blonde hair woman . I reported her to the restaurant Manager and explained that I never complain but I just had to bring this woman to his attention. He asked to write a review on trip advisor.

Stayed for a week and enjoyed the facilities. Bedroom was modern, clean, well appointed and comfortable. Bathroom was small but had a good shower. Pool area is large, clean and well maintained. Pool bar was busy and quite expensive. Coal restaurant was a disappointment as both our steaks were extremely fatty with little meat. We told the waiter but no allowance was made for such a poor meal. Main negative about the hotel was the lack of sound proofing between rooms and hallways. The walls are extremely thin so the noise from other rooms and corridors was incessant. Otherwise I would give a better rating. Location is good and well situated for local shops and the beach.

Second time we’ve stayed here. First time was before the refurb. They have done a great job with the refurbishment and the rooms are lovely. All the staff are really nice and polite and the room cleaning was spot on. We stayed half board and the food was really good with plenty of options. Our only one annoyance was people leaving towels on sunbeds from 8am and not coming back until the afternoon. There are signs saying this isn’t allowed and that towels will be removed but staff don’t follow this through. Why say you’ll do this and then don’t. It’s very frustrating.
