Alua Atlantico Golf Resort

Not a bad hotel but not one we would revisit. We’d not been previously and thought that having “Golf” in the title would make it better quality. This was not the case as so many guests were morbidly obese, covered in tattoos and uncovered in public areas. Gave the hotel a real downmarket feel which was unfair. Positives Food was generally ok. Not great but ok Rooms very good and clean Reception area good Readily available taxis were cheap Pool areas clean Staff very helpful The 2 local golf courses were decent Negatives Food themes were poor À la carte disappointed Avoid block 2 like the plague. Noise and smelly drains. We moved Nothing to do with golf whatsoever Free bus gave only 2 hours visit time The beer was dreadful with no alternatives

The hotel is made up of two hotels side by side, we stayed in block 4 which had its own pool area, restaurant & bar. The room was large & modern with a separate bedroom & a large balcony & cleaned everyday. The restaurant had a good selection of food but the hot food section did not work so it was always cold or tepid which is such a shame as everything else was lovely. The breakfast was also cold, fried eggs pre-cooked & placed on a cold plate in front of a hot griddle!!!! why not cook to order. The bacon, sausage, beans mushrooms, scrambled egg etc.. placed in the same hot food station that did not work so all cold, when i complained they apologized but changed nothing. The pool area was good but the tiles around the pool are lethal when wet so be careful, the pool bar was busy but ok Overall our stay was ok but the food let it down & based on that we would not return to this hotel which is a shame

Stayed for a week beginning of october. Rooms were cleaned daily and spacious. Clean towels daily. Check in was quick and straight forward. We couldnt get in rooms until 3pm but had change of clothes in hand luggage , able to change and enjoy the facilities. Food good. Breakfast was tasty and hot. Snack bar had excellent choice, pastas, fruit and salad, choice of fresh filled rolls and the usual chicken nuggets, chips, onion rings, samosas and pizza. Token system for drinks but we took our own cups as well. The system works well and no cups left about. Pool towels 10€ deposit which you get back when u leave. Bar staff excellent, drinks very good. Hipodino shop 10 minute walk away and some shops in san blas, we had a taxi here 7€ each way but worth it. No mad rush for sunbeds, we put towel out around 9am and then went for breakfast. Did witness pool staff leaving signs on sunbeds and removing towels when left for an hour or so , which is not a bad thing .All in all a fantastic holiday and would 100% return .

Visited Alua with my husband and infant daughter in and had the most incredible week. We weren't really sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised at every turn. One of the first all inclusive hotels I've truly felt like I want to return to year after year. Daily entertainment ran by the upper pool every day, even though in late September/early October we were arguably out of season and had expected it to have finished. We played daily couples games, joined beach volleyball, and took part in aqua aerobics. The lower pool (known as the "Quiet Pool") has beautiful sea views and we were always able to get a sun bed there, regardless of what time we arrived. My only note on the pools is there's really no shade when you're in the water - especially for the children's pool and splash pool, it would be helpful to be able to keep out of direct sunlight while swimming. Food was also fab, beautifully presented and tonnes of variety. You could easily have eaten a different meal every night for a week, and for an all inclusive the quality was good too. All inclusive daytime options were also great - proper branded drinks and quick service, plus near-unlimited snacks available throughout the day. I've seen some other people complain about the drinks token system but it really wasn't an issue for us. The cot provided for our five month old was great. In the past we've had hit and miss experienced with rental cots, but were really happy with this one. It was a standard travel cot, but had a proper, 10cm thick mattress in the bottom so still really comfy. She slept just as well in that as she does at home! In terms of provision for babies, there were lots of young children and infants around and plenty of high chairs available. The placement of lifts in the hotel is a little strange so you definitely rack up some extra steps if using a pushchair, but it's easily navigable once you've worked it out. It's worth noting that the site clearly used to be two separate hotels, which is why the photos of the outside are quite limited. Internally both hotels are equally lovely and have been done up to match, but externally look different. Travelling between the two is a bit confusing at first, especially with a pushchair, as you have to take some convoluted routes. But once you've worked out a route it's absolutely fine. Location-wise, there isn't a huge amount to do in the area. That works well if you're looking for a lazy hotel holiday, as you really don't have to leave if you don't want to. There's a small supermarket two minutes from the hotel entrance and a few restaurants around. You can also have a wander down along the marina or along the seafront paths, which are an easy walk and provide a great view at sunrise. Tonnes of day trips and excursions are available across the island, if you want something a little different. Before arrival we were a little worried about plane noise, given the proximity to the airport. We had an balcony on the external west side of the hotel, and when sat outside in the evenings did hear and see a lot of planes, probably five or six an hour. It wasn't a massive issue but was slightly inconvenient, especially when trying to keep the baby asleep inside. The noise was loud enough you'd often have to pause conversation to let the plane pass. However when sat around the pools in the day we barely heard plane noise at all. Possibly worth requesting a pool-view room, or a room in the eastern-most building, if you're concerned about potential noise. Overall really happy, would definitely recommend as a hotel and seriously considering revisiting next year!

Overall, lovely hotel. We had a double suite overlooking the marina which was really spacious and had a lovely shower area. Overall food was good and plenty of vegetarian options. There are two restaurants one which was a bit more canteen like and could be noisy. We opted to use the ocean restaurant which tended to be quieter. We didn't have a problem finding a sunbed by the pool. Bar, housekeeping and restaurant staff were friendly. They had a mix of entertainment to suit everyone. Only reason I haven't given it a 5 star was room wasn't ready when we arrived at 1:30 and was told we have to wait until 2.30/3 so waited in reception where we were clearly visible. I then checked at 2:50 and receptionist reached for key behind her so not sure how long the room had been ready and would be good if they had told us as we were sitting right there. Did find receptionists very abrupt and not helpful and didn't go out of their way. However this would not put us off staying again as overall a lovely stay.
