Honest review from a family with 2 children, age 7 & 2. The Best Tenerife is an average hotel. It is certainly not 4 stars and I’d argue quite expensive for what’s on offer. If you’re looking for a basic stay with intentions to head out each day then this hotel may be the one for you. Pros The staff are really friendly and helpful- especially at the pool bar. Rooms are cleaned each day & towels are changed if left on the floor. The food is good- there is good variety & we weren’t bored after ten nights. Location is good- lots going on outside, supermarket literally outside and hotel and the beach is a short walk away. Cons The hotel is really dated - the corridors and rooms are old. They need a touch up of paint. There was mould on our bathroom ceiling & the wardrobe door wouldn’t open. The cleaning spray is unusual - it leaves a strong smell of urine as you walk into your room- not nice at all. The pool area is overcrowded - not cleaned throughout the day & there is a strong odour of sewage which comes over in waves into the eating area. There is a fight for sun beds everyday & they are piled in so close together that it’s impossible to get between them. There is a children’s outside splash play area- the wall is covered in mould- not appealing at all. The swimming pool itself needs a good clean- black mould between the tiles and on the floor round the edges. The chairs in the dining room are old, the backs are sticky & unpleasant. The ‘entertainment’ is awful- the live music outside the hotel is much better. There isn’t an area for children in the evening. This results in groups of kids playing football in the walkway. They have no where to socialise or play. No playground area for toddlers or small kids. It’s by far not the worst hotel I’ve stayed at but if asked, we wouldn’t stay here again. It certainly needs some TLC. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We went to this hotel after receiving some very good reviews and recommendations from friends. We wish we didnt. I'll start with the positives: I liked that the drinks were all self service, as it really reduced the queues to get drinks. Lots of options available. I had read about the paper cups, so we brought our own plastic ones (highly recomnded). Ice creams on option too, and ther3 were then small fees for names brands, or other snacks (we then learnt card payment only, they don't take cash). The animation team were fantastic, especially Dily. She was brilliant with my son, who has ADHD, and she was letting him help with the likes of Bingo and even the music in the evening. He loved doing this. If you've got kids, the entertainment to amazing. Activities also catered for adults, and the had a couples night while we were there which was great fun to watch. The A La Carte restaurant was amazing. Definitely worth a visit. I found out that if you upgraded to superior, you could visit as many times as you liked during your stay: just book at the main restaurant. The location was great: 30 mins from airport, 5 mins walk to the beach and golden mile which made nice walks in the day and evening. Rooms were cleaned every day, and bottles of water put in the room each evening too. Our flight ome wasn't until the evening, so Check out was 12pm, but your all inclusive stays with you until you leave, which i thought was great as other hotels we've stayed in finished at 12pm, so we could still get drinks and lunch. There were 2 shower rooms available, but you had to book these at reception after 8:30am on the day you leave (first come first serve for half hour slots, so plan in advance). No charge for this, so we could enjoy the time by the pool, and then shower and change before the coach picked us up. Now the unfortunate negatives: - the pool was filthy. It had black mould floating in the kids pool, and we heard about people being I'll from this. I was always up early, but only ever saw it cleaned once in my whole week there. I was told it was done every day (must be done at 2am when no one is about). - The restaurant. 9/10, the food was cold, or luke warm at best. I get it's all inclusive and buffet style, but never saw anyone doing temp checks, and when you've got the likes of pork, chicken, etc, this is dangerous. - We encountered a few rude members of staff. A girl on reception wasn't that helpful when I asked for the hotels address due to a case of mine which was missing. She just through me a business card, and went back to the computer. A member of the bar staff then shouted at my Son, as he wanted some pop corn (which you had to pay extra for), as he said "can't you see there's a line? Go and get to the back!" My son is 7 with ADHD. He came back very upset. - The hotel was very outdated and could do with a make over. We had 2 rooms, both of which the air conditioning was as useful as reception staff. It didnt work at all, just a very low small breeze. After speaking to the reception team about this, they said the main extractor was broken (had been for months apparently). - No one seems to know first aid. My daughter fell off the stage during the kids disco (accidentaly). She had a massive bruise on her arm. Went to go and get some ice from the bar, and had to go through 4 members of staff to eventually get some ice in a "rubber glove". Sunbeds: everyone comments on this, so I'll add my 2 cents. If you want a sunbed by the pool, be up by 6am I found. Supposedly can't reserve them, but this is not monitored. Most days, there were sunbeds available up until about half 8, easily. After that, it was a struggle. Parasols were again a wide range, but these also very quickly went. Would we stay here again? Unfortunately, the cons outweighed the pros too much, so no we wouldn't.

We have been coming to this hotel now for 9years, we returned home yesterday after our most recent stay with a party of 15 to celebrate my mum’s 70th birthday. Last year we came for my 40th and there were a few things we picked up on a few little things that we didn’t like. We said we would only return if the price was right which it was so we decided to give it another chance and I can honestly say we’ve had a wonderful time and so many improvements have been made. This is despite the fact that on day2 one of our party was taken ill and had to spend a week in hospital. The trolley to put the stretcher on for the ambulance wouldn’t fit in the lift so all the bar staff pulled together and helped to carry the stretcher from the room to the lift and held him until they got to reception and got him on the trolley. The hotel have been great and so supportive, they’ve even let them keep their room on until they are fit to fly, big shout out to Ischa on reception and the manager David who have gone above and beyond and we are so grateful. Sunbeds- yep we were down at 6.30 to get near to the pool …if you can’t beat them, join them…it’s not really an option if you have young kids and need to have eyes on them. If you didn’t want the first few rows, plenty of sunbeds still stacked up throughout the day. We were there in May half term last year and the sunbed situation has massively improved since then. Inflatables could be used in smaller pool, not in bigger pool, this isn’t the hotels decision, this is the same across all hotels due to safety in the water. Food- never had a bad meal in the main restaurant, lots of choice even for the fussy eaters in our party, the noodle bar was a hit with my son and I think the whippy ice cream was a hit with us all! Ok some of the food was repetitive but most all inclusive are. The snack bar has had lots of change since our last visit, lots more choice and drinks are now positioned better. Entertainment - can’t really comment about the evening as we tended to go out and then go to the bar upstairs and play pool…no paper cups in that bar 🍻Lots of things going on on the day. Rooms- we had a suite which was well worth the upgrade and a bit of extra space. The views are fantastic too. However i do think there should be different rates for the refurbished ones. We had a refurbished but someone else in the party didn’t although they had 3 separate beds which was useful to them. Two of the rooms experienced a cockroach but we had taken some cockroach spray with us and after all we were in Tenerife so there’s always the possibility of one flying in with the balcony door open. On arrival there are 2 bottles of water , orange and Coke. Water is replenished daily. I’ve seen people complaining the fizzy drinks aren’t replaced…there are bottles of Coke and sprite available in the fridge on the roof if you desperately need a bottled one or simply fill a cup up from downstairs. We have never had a bad holiday here, for anyone looking at the reviews regretting booking this hotel then don’t worry, everyone’s experience is different, please go with an open mind and enjoy your holiday, safe in the knowledge that if anything did go wrong the hotel would look after you. We would definitely return, in fact we are already pricing up for next year!
